Location
Situated in the heart of Tamarindo, Balcones del Pacifico is just steps away from the beach, shops, and restaurants. This penthouse unit is located on the third floor (accessible only by stairs, no elevator) within a secure gated community of 21 homes, which is guarded at night. A new pool will be opening in July 2024.
Nearby activities include surfing, ATV rentals, horseback riding, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, and ziplining. Our Tamarindo property management team is available to provide recommendations.
The Space
Step inside this inviting condo and you might never want to leave. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a trip with friends or family, the unit offers ample space and comfort.
The condo features two bedrooms with one king bed and two twin beds, all outfitted with soft sheets. For groups larger than four, the living room includes a queen-sized sofa sleeper that accommodates two additional guests, allowing the condo to comfortably sleep six people.
Each room is fully air-conditioned with individual units, ensuring a cool and comfortable stay. Linens, towels, and basic toiletries are provided, so there’s no need to bring your own.
The living room and kitchen provide plenty of space to relax, whether you want to chat, play cards, watch television, work remotely, or send emails using the condo’s 100 Mbps Wi-Fi.
If you prefer to enjoy the pleasant Tamarindo weather, step out onto your private balcony with a bistro table, head downstairs to the courtyard pool, or go up to the exclusive rooftop terrace. The rooftop is fully equipped with lounges—including a romantic double lounge—a picnic table, and exterior lighting for your enjoyment.
Please note that only guests listed on your reservation are permitted within the gated community. Socializing with locals is encouraged in town, but bringing unregistered visitors into the condo or community is against house rules.
Kitchen and Dining
The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, bakeware, tableware for six, a microwave, blender, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, toaster, stove, and a full-sized refrigerator. An electric BBQ grill is also available on the balcony for outdoor cooking.
You can prepare meals at the condo or enjoy local flavors by grabbing a croissant from the French pastry chef at Utopia or takeout from the nearby outdoor food court, El Mercadito. Tamarindo offers a wide range of dining options within walking distance or a short drive, from street food to fine dining.
Leisure and Entertainment
Take beach chairs and sarongs from the closet and spend the day at the beach, or relax with a book and nap on the rooftop terrace’s lounge chairs. The condo also provides card and board games for your entertainment.
Live music, nightclubs, and lively nightlife are just steps away, but the condo offers a peaceful retreat where you won’t hear the crowds. For the comfort of all residents, guests are asked to be respectful and maintain quiet during their stay.
Laundry and Cleanliness
An in-unit washer and dryer are available for washing clothes, beachwear, and colored pool towels. Guests are requested to use the provided sarongs on the beach instead of condo towels. Before returning to the condo, shake sand off the sarongs on the beach and rinse off in the outdoor shower near the pool to keep the living space sand-free and comfortable.
Guest Access
Guests have exclusive access to the entire third-floor condo, which includes:
- Kitchen
- Living room
- Two bedrooms
- Two bathrooms
- Hallway storage
- Balcony off the living room
- Private rooftop terrace
The rooftop terrace is for the sole use of the condo’s occupants. The pool in the gated courtyard is also available for registered guests.
Smoking, vaping, or use of any tobacco products is strictly prohibited in all common areas, inside the condo, on the balcony, and on the rooftop terrace. Violation of this rule will result in immediate termination of the rental without refund and possible damage charges.
Free parking is available outside the locked gate and on the street in front of the complex.
Additional Information
If this is your first visit to Costa Rica, here are a few important notes:
- Plumbing systems are sensitive throughout the country. Most public restrooms request that no paper be flushed; waste bins are provided for toilet paper disposal. In this condo, flushing some toilet paper is acceptable, but feminine hygiene products must never be flushed anywhere in Costa Rica.
- Many roads around Tamarindo, including the one leading to the condo, are dirt roads. They can become muddy during the rainy season and dusty in the dry season, so plan accordingly.
- Tamarindo has several grocery stores. We recommend exploring a few to find the one that best fits your needs.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. My son didn’t want to leave. If you want something impeccably located in Tamarindo without being as expensive as a beachfront resort, this is it. It was super easy to get in within a minute or two. The layout fantastic. We traveled with my MIL, SIL, nephew and our kids. Enough room for everyone to be comfy with the sofa bed included. The kitchen came in handy with our cooking Airbnb experience, the chef said the kitchen was very well stocked for this. Very walkable, we walked to several grocery stores. Only a few blocks from the beach and excellent restaurants. What’s more, the pool with full view from the balcones makes it easy for kids to play supervised. Many people here were long time owners and very friendly. I didn’t even realize there was a key for the upper patio, with only access from this unit, until the last day. And I wish I had known before, it essentially doubles the amount of space for family to spend time.

We had a great day at Williams place. We came in April and the weather was scorching hot, but the AC in the condo saves our lives. William is very responsive and responded to my questions within minutes. The place is very spacious. We had four adults and two children and we stayed comfortably at the place. The living room has a pullout couch so a few nights my husband stayed there with one of the children. The kitchen is well stocked with pot and pan. There is olive oil, salt and sugar for us to use. The location is really good too. It is five minutes walk to the beach. And it is very close to the hustle and bustle, but remains very quiet in the evening. Well, definitely recommend to any guests coming totamarindo

We had a great experience. The place is located right in the heart of Tamarindo, with a grocery store and restaurants down the street, and very close to the beach. Despite this central location, it was quiet and peaceful, and felt very safe. Check-in was easy (especially appreciated since our flight was late!) and the apartment was well equipped, just as described. At some point during our stay, there was an issue with the door lock. Jennifer and William were super responsive and the issue was resolved in no time. We'd definitely consider going back!

William’s place is just a short walk to the beach and tons of restaurants in Tamarindo. Pool was nice and had everything we needed in the apartment, plus it felt roomy. Kitchen was large, and living room was great to hang out in. Lots to do nearby whether shopping, catching sunset, eating local catch at a beach restaurant, or grabbing pastries in the AM.

A pretty standard Airbnb these days: decent but not nice place to stay, minimal but sufficient effort made to make the place livable. Beds themselves were fine (I didn’t mind the hard mattress) but the sheets were cheap and itchy and did not appear to have been cleaned. Shower heat and pressure was great, towels were plentiful and fine, but no shower amenities. And the towel hooks in the master bath fell right out of the wall when touched. Laundry was a good convenience but even though there was apparently laundry detergent and baskets, their location was not obvious so we didn’t see them until well after we needed them. Just a little more-than-minimum thought that isn’t put into Airbnbs anymore. The roof deck, though very minimally equipped with old deck chairs, was actually great. There’s a metal roof to block the sun and a nice breeze up there. Great location. If you need a “cheap” place in Tamarindo then you could consider this. But you get what you pay for.

The good - beds were comfortable - location is great - hosts were responsive - check-in was easy - lots of easily accessibly beach blankets etc. The bad - the roof deck should not be included as part of the unit with the condition it was in. Chairs incredibly moldy and just generally extremely dirty and unwelcoming. - the pool desperately needs chlorine. It was milky / cloudy the whole time we were there. - The bathrooms had a foul odor no matter how clean they were. Need some ventilation.

I enjoyed my stay. The condo was very clean, well appointed, good pool. Dishes, utensils, everything needed in the kitchen was there. The in unit washer/dryer was convenient. It's an easy walk to restaurants and mini markets. Way better than a lots of other condos in town. Cleaning service is provided and the cleaning ladies did a great job.

We stayed here for 11 days and it was fantastic. This is our 2nd stay in Tamarindo and this place was way better than our last. A quick walk to the beach, great restaurants near by, and friendly host and doorman. The people who own other condos at this place are so nice. We would totally stay here again. I did read a review about the beds being hard, but we slept great in them and we like soft beds. We did find some ants in one of the rooms, but Jennifer was fantastic helping us, and a nice neighbor gave us some spray at 9 pm. Super awesome! After we sprayed no more ants, so no reason to worry about that. Highly recommend this condo - we would stay again! The Hampton’s
