Additional Information
Please note that south winds can occasionally bring sargassum seaweed to some Caribbean beaches, including those along the Riviera Maya. While this is unpredictable on a weekly basis, it may affect beach conditions and water entry.
The Riviera Maya offers abundant natural beauty and numerous outdoor activities. We have a curated list of adventures and attractions that remain unaffected by sargassum, which we would be happy to share to help you make the most of your stay.
With so much to explore, Casa Cavu provides an ideal base for a memorable vacation in this remarkable region.

Absolutely gorgeous location for the Airbnb. The caretaker was wonderful and really made sure our stay was special. Each room has its own A/C unit to make sure you can sleep overnight in the hot/humid nights. We didn't make use of the pool too much but it was super clean and a great option for us. There were a few hotel restaurants nearby which was a nice option for breakfast or on the nights we didn't want to drive. The caretaker can also make your meals, though! We did scuba diving through Mexidivers and they met us down the road at the cenote, which was just a short walk from the Airbnb. Note: if you rent a car that the dirt road to the Airbnb is VERY bumpy and adds a few more minutes to your commute (my minivan was bottoming out).

The house was perfect for our family of 5. We knew that there would be construction during the day, and possible sargassum, but our days were filled with swimming in different cenotes and visiting other areas so it wasn’t an issue for us. The highlight of our stay were the hosts, Jose & Delphina, who greeted us with homemade guacamole, ceviche & chips! We hired them to make our breakfast the next am since we were leaving early to Chichén Itza. What a treat, and the freshly squeezed guava juice came from the guavas in front of our house ! They even made our beds, came back another afternoon with sliced guavas. Jose always had a warm smile and wanted to make sure we were comfortable. We’ve stayed at Air Bnb’s & VRBO’s for 20+ yrs but this hands on experience has been beyond 5 stars for us! Muchas gracias for your services Jose & Delphina !!

This is without a doubt the best AirBnB experience I’ve had. The caretakers brought fresh fruit and coconut drinks, checked in on our needs, offered to do anything needed, all without prompt. In addition, we asked for the cooking services two nights and it was amazing. I avoid hyperbole - the best I’ve ever experienced. Quiet, walkable to a few restaurants, amazing pool, cold ac in the rooms, well priced, everything. If you’re trying to pick, this is it.

We had a lovely stay at Casa Cavu. The concierge arranged our rental car through Quality car rental and we were met outside the Tulum airport when we arrived. The house was clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well-equipped. We shopped for groceries in Tulum, but we had the hosts cook one of our meals and walked to a nearby restaurant one night. The breeze off the ocean was delightful and the pool was just perfect. The white sand beach was steps from the pool and there were only the occasional passers by. We found the entry into the water difficult due to the rocky coral close to shore (bring water shoes) but enjoyed the provided kayaks. The snorkeling away from shore was good on the calmer days. The AC in each bedroom worked well. Before confirming our reservation, the host was careful to disclose the construction going on next door. Overall, a fabulous place to stay: a private house with a private pool right on a quiet beach.

We had an incredible 8 days at Casa Cavu ! The home was comfortable, clean, right on the ocean, and near to restaurants and downtown Tulum. The Grounds Keeper Jose and his wife Delfina were kind, attentive and wonderful. They kept us stocked with clean towels, necessities and even shared delicious home-made tamales with our family for a New Years surprise! The home, including the kitchen, was cleaned everyday! We used the pool and kayaks everyday and lounged on the comfy beach chairs to our hearts content. We walked just a short distance to several beautiful cenotes, snorkeled right off the dock by the house, and enjoyed breathtaking sunrises and sunsets every day! We highly recommend this property. If you are able and budget/time allow, we recommend having Jose and Delfina prepare a meal (or meals) for you and your family! You will not be disappointed - we enjoyed a truly special and decadent meal of BBQed authentic Mexican cuisine, sides, salads, and desserts.

Wow! We had an amazing experience at Casa Cavu, and an even better experience working with Akumal Direct! They are a true one-stop shop. I was really nervous about renting a car, and choosing a rental car company was giving me anxiety because most have bad reviews. Akumal Direct helped us book a rental car from their trusted vendor partner, Quality Rental Car - they were fabulous, super responsive over both email and messaging, and met us at Tulum airport with our car. We also used Akumal Direct’s concierge services to book two different tours. Both tours were great and picked us up from the Airbnb on time. Our whole trip was so smooth and delightful due to us finding this Airbnb hosted by Akumal Direct. The actual home was gorgeous. Huge, three stories, right on the beach, amazing large pool! It was spotless clean, and the caretakers were so sweet. Everyday while we were out and about, they came in and cleaned. I can’t recommend Casa Cavu and Akumal Direct enough!

This house is just fabulous. Literally on the beach, beautiful sunrise. Clean & comfy, everything you could need (although no kettle). The pool is great, amazing to be able to swim or kayak to a coral reef - take your snorkelling gear. We found it hard to find - maybe someone should drop a pin on a map? The house was a lot to rent (maybe that’s just us) and we were then asked to tip the housekeeper and groundsman 30 US dollars per guest per week - that’s a lot of extra! The whole area is expensive - we were paying £15 for a cocktail - London prices. Lots of excellent local recommendations from Rhett who manages the property, from towns to visit to restaurants worth paying for. Tulum itself was not for us. You can’t access the beach unless you pay extortionate rates to go through hotel or bar - all very boho, super cool nonsense. We loved Valladolid and Acumal (all recommended by Rhett). Would also recommend asking Isidra to cook for you - fabulous food!
