Air-Conditioning Information

Like many island-style homes in Belize, Casa Amarillo provides air conditioning in the bedrooms only. Electricity on the island is extremely costly, so guests are asked to use the air conditioning mindfully to help keep nightly rates affordable and reduce environmental impact.

The living, kitchen, and dining areas are designed for open windows, ceiling fans, and the refreshing Caribbean breeze. Air conditioning is best used when you are in the bedroom with the doors closed. In the evenings, bedroom doors may be opened briefly for airflow, but the system is intended primarily for bedroom use.

On especially hot, still days, guests may run the bedroom units with the doors open to help cool the home. Please turn the units off when leaving the house or heading outdoors. The air conditioners cool the rooms quickly and do not need to remain on when they are not in use.
