Amazing location right in town, truly walkable to everything, with just a quick taxi ride to the beach. We felt completely safe and at home here. The listing is very accurate: you're by the jungle, so you'll see some bugs. We also had very heavy rain one day that caused a brief plumbing issue. That said, we share this not as a complaint but as a note for expectations - if you're looking for a luxury resort experience, this may not be your place. But if you want a well-loved, comfortable property in a fantastic, walkable location, this spot is absolutely your jam. The host, Téa, was incredibly responsive, and Soco, who cares for the property, is the sweetest and so helpful. Bonus: there's a very sweet dog and the friendliest cat on the property - they'll happily stop by for snuggles Thanks for sharing your mom's beloved spot with us!

We'd never been to Tulum before, and were interested in spending a few days in the town, among the community. Stone Tree was perfect for that experience. We were able to walk every morning in a different direction and find cozy coffee shops, bakeries piled high with fresh local breads, and kids and even adults playing organized sports. The house itself is very spacious and blends artistic touches, aspects of local nature, and private spaces. There was someone at the house who cooked a meal for us at a reasonable additional charge. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Everything was perfect. Tea's responsiveness, cleanliness, accuracy for the location / listing, and value could not have been better. It is obvious how much love and thoughtfulness went into this house - we treated it with love and respect. Soco is a delight and incredibly helpful. It was great for a group of 9 - everyone had a bed and were comfortable throughout. Thank you again, Tea!

Beautiful, charming, relaxing place in a very convenient location. Walk to dozens of highly rated restaurants. We found it very easy to catch a cab to the beach from the nearby main road (Avenida). Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy home to stay in while you adventure around Tulum!

For a local not over the top place to stay close to the center of Tulum, Tea’s place is an excellent choice.

Donna's place lived up to its billing for us. Her home is a quiet oasis in a setting that provides a fascinating and authentic modern-day Mayan experience. Our group included two quite elderly folks and a disabled young man, and the place worked great for all of them. Be sure to experience Soco's mole!

Donna's place provides lodging for a large group in two well-designed and comfortable houses. When we wanted to gather, there was a large living room and beautiful patio, but when we wanted privacy, we could retreat to our bedrooms or small apartments and their adjoining patios. The patio pool is perfect for small children to play in and the adult also used it daily to cool off and relax. This location is perfect for the adventurous traveler who wants to experience small-town Mexican culture. Though the house itself has an oasis-like feel, it is located in an urban neighborhood. We enjoyed walking to downtown and to the neighborhood shops, fresh produce markets, restaurants and parks, and felt safe as we did so. But a traveler seeking a beachfront spa-style resort would be disappointed. Donna's communication with the guest before the trip is phenomenal. She provided numerous pages of tips, instructions, recommendations of places to go, and a local map. She also responded promptly to questions via email. The house manager, Soco, lives on-site but unobtrusively, and was tremendously helpful as well. Not only that, but she is a wonderful cook and provided us with two delicious authentic Mexican dinners. (This is a service that is arranged and paid for separately, not part of the overall rent). If you are comfortable using mass transit, Donna's tips tell you how to do so and taxis are also readily available. A rental car came in handy for excursions far out of town, but if we visit again, I think we would only rent one for a day or two of the trip, and use mass transit or taxis the rest of the time. We are very glad we stayed at Donna's place and were able to discover the many beautiful areas in and around Tulum. We highly recommend visiting the amazing cenotes at Dos Ojos and the beautiful beaches, including Playa Paraiso. We also enjoyed the Mayan Ruins at Coba, where you can ride in a pedicab on paths through the shady jungle while learning about Mayan culture. Xelha is a more modern eco-park/amusement park, but lots of fun as well.
