Azul Ocean Resort is situated in a remote and idyllic area on the northern Pacific coast of Guanacaste. The final 22 kilometers to the hotel, along with nearby roads, are gravel. Transportation is necessary to reach the resort or nearby locations, either by vehicle or taxi, as public transportation operates only three times daily.

This exceeded our expectations. The staff were all very friendly. The beach was lovely and even though public there were never more than 10 people, while we were there. They welcomed us with cold coconut water, fresh fruit plates and flowers on the bed. It was lovely. We loved our outdoor shower and the extras they provided such as a beach bag.

This place was a beautiful find! Be warned it is a very long ways down a dirt road but the location and stay was worth it! It’s right on a private black sand beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Súper recomendable! Desde que llegamos al lugar nos enamoramos. Un lugar único, muy acogedor, y un ambiente muy agradable. Las cabañitas están frente al mar y es el lugar ideal para desconectar y relajarse. El staff fue súper amable y muy simpáticos. Definitivamente uno de mis lugares favoritos!

The only drawback to this lovely location is the 20km drive on a rugged unpaved road, otherwise you will be totally charmed by the paradise-like setting. The staff is wonderful and attentive and respond quickly to make one feel welcome and well taken care of. Our junior suite included a second outdoor shower in a volcanic rock stall-very nice touch that we made full use of. Many activities and equipment for entertainment and adventure. Lots of extra touches including a hammock on the front porch to relax and gaze upon the scenic grounds, snorkeling equipment, surfboards, even horses for riding. Make sure to book a few extra days to fully take advantage of everything this place offers.
