The Space

Ananda Guesthouse is a unique sustainable guest house with only five guest spaces. This 1-bedroom apartment, spanning 100 square meters, offers stunning views from each of its nine large screened windows.

The open-plan design includes:

• A king-size bed
• An open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area
• A modern bathroom with a toilet, shower, and basin
• A spacious terrace

The upstairs apartment provides breathtaking views from every window, allowing you to birdwatch and stargaze at night. Large screened windows throughout the apartment ensure cool breezes year-round, complemented by ceiling fans in both the bedroom and living room. The kitchen features unlimited filtered volcanic spring water.

The bedroom includes:

• A king-size bed with night tables and lamps
• A large clothes closet
• An additional single bed

The highlight of the apartment is the enormous porch, which is partially covered and partially open. The porch features:

• A two-person hammock
• A seating area
• A second dining area

This apartment offers maximum comfort while remaining highly sustainable, providing an up-close experience with nature.

Amenities

• Complimentary unlimited filtered volcanic spring water
• High-speed Wi-Fi (please note that uninterrupted service cannot be guaranteed)
• Breakfast service available for an additional cost of $6 per breakfast, which includes:
  • Tea or organic island coffee
  • Fresh juice of the day
  • A seasonal fruit plate
  • A hot plate (generally includes eggs, gallo pinto, plantain, and homemade whole wheat toast)

Location

Ananda Guesthouse is located above the village of Balgue, offering sweeping views of Concepción Volcano and Lake Cocibolca. We are close to the town center, with multiple restaurants and rental options for scooters, dirt bikes, or bicycles within a 10-minute walk. Hikes in the Maderas cloud forest and volcano begin from our backyard.

Sustainability

We pride ourselves on being highly sustainable, utilizing:

• 100% solar energy
• Biological gray and black water systems
• LED lighting throughout
• Organic farming practices

Please note:

• The last 650 meters to the property is along a bumpy dirt road. SUVs, high-clearance vehicles, and off-road motorbikes are recommended. During the rainy season (June to November), standard sedans and scooters may have difficulty accessing the road.
• There is no public street lighting along this road, so bring a flashlight if you plan to walk.

Our property spans five acres and is a work in progress, but it is stunningly beautiful.

Pets

We have two medium to large dogs, Alpha and Osa, who are part of our family. They may bark when you first arrive but do not bite. We also have a cat named Ninja.

Night guards are present daily from 7 PM to 7 AM for added security.

Is Ometepe the Right Fit for You?

If you have a love for nature and all things natural, you will appreciate Ometepe. The island is home to an abundance of flora and fauna, featuring:

• Waterfalls
• Black and white sand beaches
• Incredible nature hikes
• Ancient petroglyphs
• Scenic wetlands
• A natural volcanic swimming pool

However, if you have a phobia of spiders, insects, and other creepy crawlies, Ometepe may not be the right fit for you. While our accommodations are comfortable, the island's biosphere status indicates a rich biodiversity, which includes a variety of insects.
