The Space
Kinamira is located just 1.8 miles from the golden sands of Playa Grande, offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. The property is thoughtfully designed to blend the essence of Costa Rica with Mediterranean influences, creating a space focused on well-being and attention to detail.
You can rent one of three private cottages, each featuring its own tranquil pool. These intimate accommodations open to nature beneath thatched palm roofs. Whitewashed walls reflect natural light, while subtle blue accents evoke a refreshing sea breeze. During the rainy season, the gentle sound of the nearby river adds to the serene atmosphere.
At Kinamira, every element is crafted to help you relax, reconnect, and occasionally meet fellow travelers. The large shared pool area, shaded by a palm roof, fosters a laid-back and inviting environment—perfect for lounging or enjoying a casual drink from the self-serve mini bar.
Cottage Features
Each cottage includes:
- Premium king-size bed with air conditioning
- Smart TV with Netflix
- Additional curtained sleeping area with a second king-size bed
- Fully equipped kitchen stocked with essentials such as coffee, tea, olive oil, and salt
- Semi-open bathroom featuring a spa-style shower, separate toilet, and organic, locally made bath products
- Spacious terrace with outdoor living space, dining table, and a private 2 x 2 meter pool
From your terrace, you might observe local wildlife including howler monkeys, coatis, hummingbirds, and parakeets.

- Close to Las Baulas National Park, a protected nesting area for leatherback and green sea turtles.
- Conveniently situated between Tamarindo and Flamingo, in the heart of Guanacaste.
Guest Access
- Access to the Suite Anafi.
- Use of the large shared swimming pool from 9 AM to 6 PM.
Additional Information
- A car is necessary to explore the region fully. The suite is accessible by all vehicle types. Motorbike and scooter rentals are available nearby.
- Laundry service is provided by staff. A large bag of laundry is cleaned free of charge; additional laundry will incur a fee.
- The property is about one hour from Liberia International Airport.
- Close to four of the region’s most beautiful beaches: Playa Grande, Playa Minas, Playa Conchal, and Playa Piratas.
- Wine is available for purchase in the cottages.
- The mini-bar by the shared pool offers drinks, snacks, and homemade ice creams.

Kinamira is comfortable & easy to access with beautiful decorations and European details. A quick drive to the beach and the hosts were fast to respond to everything we needed. The wine for purchase in the fridge was an amazing addition! I stayed with my mom so the open floor plan was ok for us, but because the walls do not go to the ceiling, there is very little privacy in the bathroom or bedroom. With only 1 AC in the bedroom, sleeping in the extra bed by the kitchen was pretty hot at night even with the multiple fans. The private plunge pool is shaded and therefore more like a cold plunge. There is also a shared pool on property but we didn’t have time to use it.

We had such an amazing time here. Visited daily by iguanas, monkeys and all kinds of beautiful birds. The cottage is beautifully decorated and all we wanted to do was relax outside and by the communal pool, which we mostly had to ourselves. Great communicative host with lots of local tips and a useful guidebook. Edit before review window closed: Over a week after we arrived home I received a near $200 payment request to replace pots and pans from Sophie which were already slightly damaged when we arrived. We did our usual best to clean everything up and leave it exactly as we found it, but all we did was cook using the pans. There weren't a lot of dining options considering there was no power or water the whole day before we left. Obviously not the fault of the hosts, which is why I never initially called it out in my review. Just be sure to document any minor damages and take pictures. I should’ve done the same. Disputing the charges but an unfortunate end to an otherwise lovely stay

Our stay at Kinamira was an absolute dream! If it's available, don't hesitate to book. It's our second time visiting and it's hands down the best Airbnb experience we've had. Sophie and Christina are amazing hosts, and her property perfectly blends Costa Rican nature with elegant simplicity. We loved relaxing in our private plunge pool and watching the local wildlife. It is a quick drive to Playa Grande, so a car is essential but well worth it. We cannot wait to visit again!

My spouse and I booked with Sophie for our anniversary trip and desperately needed some quiet time together. The lodge and room were both exactly as described and exceeded how peaceful I was expecting. Honestly it was hard to leave Kinamari because all I wanted to do is relax in the hammock or in our pool and listen to the birds and wildlife. Such respite!

Very nice stay, quiet, ultra clean. There was nothing missing. For a special connection with nature, this is a great place to stay. Sophie's recommendations for restaurants, bakery and more are great. The sunsets on Playa Grande are exceptional! An exceptional hostess. Thank you for everything
