The Space
La Orquídea, opened in May 2005, is the only private guest house nestled inside the crater on the shores of Laguna de Apoyo. Designed as a home away from home, it includes:
- A fully equipped kitchen
- A private bathroom
- Living and dining areas
- Balconies on both levels
The balconies offer spectacular views of Nicaragua’s cleanest lagoon. The peaceful surroundings are home to countless migratory and native birds, creating an ideal setting for relaxation and enjoying the sunshine.
Guests can unwind in a hammock, take a two-hour ride to nowhere, or hike through the crater surrounding the house. The two-story guest house accommodates up to six people and offers an alternative to hotels and crowded hospedajes.

We had a fantastic stay at Michaels house! The kitchen was very well stocked, something that is rare in Latin America. The house was spotless. The private beach was perfect and the beds were comfortable. We will be returning for sure. Perfect spot to stay to visit Masaya, the volcano and Granada. We much prefer to stay at the lake instead any of the surrounding towns.

Michael y su personal en sitio fueron muy amables . Doña Ana y su cuñado fueron muy atentos y serviciales. Michael mantuvo una comunicación fluida y fue muy atento y flexible. La casa es muy bonita y a pocos pasos pasos tienes acceso directo a la laguna Gracias por su excelente servicio!!

Mis amigos y yo disfrutamos mucho nuestra estadía en La orquídea. La belleza natural del lugar y el estilo colonial de la casa es maravilloso. Las trabajadores de Michael son de mucha ayuda y siempre estarán para ti cuando los necesites. Espero regresar pronto.

Beautiful location, quaint, peaceful, Michael was very helpful. A lovely alternative to Omotepe island. Close to Granada. I’m grateful for the experience.

Nice place with great access to the lake. Caretakers were very friendly and their dog was a lot of fun. A few restaurants within walking distance for lunch/dinner. Access to the lake is shared with another house.

The house was nice, no problems. But the workers made a lot of noise in the early morning. Sweeping at 5.00 a.m. and making other noises. That was not what we expected in a quiet environment.
