Marilena and Hari were wonderful hosts. The place we stayed was very clean and the included breakfast was delicious. There were plenty of activities to do on the island and many nice local restaurants to eat classic Nicaraguan food at. Unfortunately, we arrived right after a hard rain so the road up to the airbnb was very muddy and we were unable to make it up in our 4x4 pickup truck. However, our hosts were able to come down and help us with our luggage. The island is beautiful and it's a shame that the current socio-political situation is deterring other tourists from coming. It's a beautiful place to visit!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful ranch in the rural island town of Merida. We had our own private cabana, was quite clean and well furnished. They served tasty and nutritious breakfasts every morning, offered delicious fresh juices and other foods throughout the day for a bit extra. Probably the biggest bonus for us though was that they were very helpful in helping us plan activities. Even when our plans changed they were quite accommodating. The people that they connected us with (hiking guides, taxi drivers, etc.) also were very helpful, courteous, and seemed quite trustworthy. Would definitely recommend!

Our family of four had a wonderful time staying at Finca Montania Sagrada! The finca sits at the base of the dormant Volcan Maderas and is absolutely beautiful. There are numerous dogs and cats on the property as well as talkative parrots and healthy, well cared for horses. The breakfast provided was excellent and included fresh fruits, yogurt, homemade bread and juice. We went on a tour with Hari's Horses that included the horses swimming in the lake, it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. We also spent an evening enjoying chocolate birthday cake and rum with Hari and Marilena and listening to their stories of travel and adventure. We also suggest checking out El Pital - Chocolate Paradise - outside of Santa Cruz. If you are a light sleeper, I suggest ear plugs, as farm animals can be a bit noisy!

Sweetest people, absolute paradise with gentle animals, large garden, butterflies and a satisfying breakfast ... My 4 and 2 year old became immersed in the nature. Close to waterfall, kayaking and great restaurants. Pictures don't do it justice.

Marilena not only arranged our travel to and from the ferry but also throughout all of Nicaragua, she was a great help throughout our stay on ometepe and in Nicaragua in general. Went well above what we expected. Our children (4&7) loved the grounds and exploring nature as well as loving on all the animals. Great hosts, great food, great experience.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at FMS! They were very welcoming of our family with 4 small children. Breakfast was wonderful. The staff was all very kind and helpful. They arranged for transportation for us from the ferry as well as to the nearby waterfall. We were provided with good recommendations for daytime activities as well as eateries outside of the finca. Hari's horses were beautiful and well cared for. Hari planned a horseback riding trip for our family and taught our 5 year old and 7 year old to ride in a matter of minutes. He selected excellent horses with the right personalities for each of our children. Katharina, who was helping with the horseback riding, was a huge asset for our kids too! Much thanks to Marilena, Mirca and Hari for a beautiful visit!

We had a great stay at Finca Montania Sagrada! The drive up is a bit bumpy - would recommend all wheel drive or parking the car down and walking up. The cottage was perfect and the hosts were great. Had a very short stay so we did not get to enjoy the famous breakfast but everything during our visit was great.

Hari, Giovanni and co have a lovely place and are all super welcoming and helpful. It's a happy sort of chaos with all the dogs playing. We were really pleased we chose to stay here rather than in Moyogalpa. We were initially worried we'd be a little isolated, but although it is a bit of a shlep from the ferry, it's worth it. We got to see real island life and were mostly in the minority as tourists in the few local restaurants. Hari's horses are excellent. Really well trained and good natured. Suitable for all levels. I was the most experienced rider in our group and they let me go ahead for a canter. Most trekking centre horses would have hated going ahead like that, but Pipollo was an angel. Likewise, my husband, a nervous beginner, was well instructed and looked after, hanging at the back. The grounds are gorgeous. Double volcano view, and hummingbirds flitting about all the lovely flowers. The little veranda was a great place to relax, sometimes by nothing but the moonlight, which was astonishingly bright! We'd absolutely stay here again.

Ometepe is an extremely rugged island. Finca Montania Sagrada is a beautiful oasis within. The property is well-cared for and Cabana Ilse was actually more pleasing than what the pictures presented. It was clean and simple, but everything we needed for our overnight stay in the island. The breakfast was also very simple, but so fresh and delicious. Watch out, we did find a scorpion the morning after our stay...so just look around and make sure you are aware of your surroundings. Giovanni was communicative before and during our stay, no complaints there. Hari was a little upset that we cancelled our horseback riding tour in short notice (we were tired from our 3 hour ride from SJDS and they didn't let us know it was an issue when we asked), but I understood where he was coming from. However, my two friends were left with a little bad feeling after that. It was the only negative energy we got in Nicaragua and we stayed for a full week. I did see Hari down by the beach with a few horses and other guests. They all went in the water and it looked magical, so I'm sure the ride was wonderful. Too bad we missed it. Overall a good stay.
