This is a no-frills, and rustic accommodation to be sure. However, they have a well functioning window air conditioning unit in each bedroom. This is ESSENTIAL in puerto Jimenez. Jackie, the manager was delightful and got me in contact with local guides and referred me to a doctor for my return pcr test.

Chosa Del Manglar Nature Retreat was another amazing discovery for my family. We needed a place to stay overnight and we were lucky to find this place in Puerto Jimenez before heading out to Carate. Our cabin is big with three bedrooms and we were lucky that there were no other guest but us so we had the place to ourselves. The cabin/house has a huge lounge area with a hammock, ping pong table, lots of sitting area which would be fabulous for a nice get together or a group of friends wanting to hang out. There is a also a balcony on the roof to help view the wildlife and of course, howler monkeys were out (on our rooftop) as soon as we got there. The beds are comfy and the AC is a huge plus! Wi-Fi didn’t work well but we only needed it to make sure our family back in LA knows we got to Puerto Jimenez safely. Allan is Andrew’s caretaker and he responded to my messages immediately when we couldn’t find the place. He recommended a good place to eat and buy groceries. Thanks Andrew for allowing us to stay in your amazing sanctuary!

We stayed in the Monkey hut and had plenty of space for 4 of us. Andrew was easy to communicate with and helped us work out another night when we needed it. As mentioned by others, the grounds couldn't be more beaufuful! We saw monkeys, toucans, and many other birds right near our place. There are chairs and hammocks around to sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. There is also a restaurant in the property with a small but delicious menu in a lovely open aired room. The food was beautifully served. It was so convenient after hiking all day. It was fantastic to have air conditioning in our bedrooms! The location was very close to our activities and we loved Puerto Jimenez! The things we did there were our favorites in our entire Costa Rican adventure! The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is because there are little things that don't matter a lot but still make it not up to the comfort level of some of the many other Airbnbs we've stayed at. Some examples are that I could barely see in the 2 small mirrors because they were placed so high(I'm short, but a bigger mirror would have been nice). There is not a plug near either of those mirrors so drying my hair before going out was a little frustrating. There are no condiments (i.e...salt and pepper), and the only coffee pot is a Costa Rican one, which is fine, but I would have liked directions in how to use it. The 2 couches were old and a little dirty and one always collapsed backward into a bed if you leaned on it. Our room wasn't cleaned one day. These are little things that don't override the beautiful surroundings and ability to be close to everything, but still put it into 4 stars category. I would recommend it, though.
