4BR Villa in Puerto Morelos

Good, 3 months ago

Cancun has too many drunks and party people. Playa del Carmen has too many vendors nothing you constantly. Puerto Morelos was relaxing and the people are friendly. The house we stayed in had everything you needed to feel comfortable. The seaweed on the beach is a well known problem. I suggest you rent a car and go see the sights.

Beautiful, spacious house right by the sea. Very quiet and with privacy. The equipment is a bit outdated, and the seagrass was a negative point. Irma can't control the weather, after all. We would come back; it was absolutely beautiful. Thank you, Irma.

Great little location, 10 min drive north of Puerto Morelos. I'm glad we had a rental as there are no restaurants or shops within walking distance and it's tucked away between other homes and quieter resorts. Even better than the pictures to be honest, the house is gorgeous. AC was great, which was one of my main concerns. Unfortunately the whole peninsula got hit by a weather phenomenon where red algae weeds wash up on the beach and sometimes smell bad (called Sargassum, 2026 is supposed to be a record year). It usually happens later in the year but this time we got hit in spring due to winds. Despite that we still had a good time on the beach, in the AIRBNB, walking around Puerto Morelos, etc. Just not in the water for our kiddos. Amazing AIRBNB! We're so grateful we came.

Wonderful stay in this beautiful home on the beach. Had everything we needed, including a family of lizards! The only downside, which is obviously not the fault of the owner and not reflected in my review, was the sorgassam started and kept on coming. We were able to swim the first few days, and really enjoyed it. Cece was very helpful in recommending restaurants, grocery stores, her favorite cenotes, and a snorkeling trip which was amazing. We would definately stay here again!

I have to start with the location - right on the beach and so private. Even though there are condos in this area north of Puerto Morelos, it is so quiet and calm. The house was bigger than we expected, totally accommodated our family of six adults very comfortably. And one of my favorite parts of many: very comfortable bed with soft sheets and extra pillows. The common area with access to a private backyard facing the ocean is huge! The kitchen has a nice big stove and we like cooking together and hanging out. I noticed other people said it is a little older but that is 100% part of its charm. We loved Irma's place and will definitely return. It is a 30-40 minute walk down the beach into the downtown area of Puerto but we used the bikes and our kids rented extra bikes, makes it a 15 minute trip. There are also plenty of cabs. Excellent communication from the manager, Cece, too. She answered the couple of minor questions we had immediately.

A beautiful home with gorgeous views. We really enjoyed having a front yard to relax in and the cooling ocean breezes. When we had issues with the refrigerator a new one was actually purchased and delivered! I was very impressed. When we ran low on drinking water, new refilled bottles were quickly delivered. It was convenient to have the two bicycles because the town of Puerto Morelos is about a 25 minute walk away or a quick bike ride. It was a wonderful home in which to celebrate Christmas.

We LOVED Mi Mar. The house is so unique and perfectly located right on the beach. Sunrises right from your bed! The house is older and has the welcome feel, quirks, and wear of a family beach house. The place was spotless. Not one speck of stray sand anywhere! Which is pretty impressive considering the beach is literally the entire yard. Irma and CeCe thought of everything and were so kind to talk to and host us. We would definitely come back.

This airbnb is very nice to stay at. It’s right on the water the pictures do not do it justice. If you are looking for a direct stay on the beach it’s quite remarkable. The water isn’t as blue as Cancuns main strip but it makes up for it with the peace of no one being around. We did have an issue one night with one of the air units but Cece responded even in the middle of the night. They fixed it the next morning. If you need to get away from it all I would definitely recommend staying here!

Always love the stay.

Extremely responsive and a very unique place to stay! Two issues that were out of the owner’s control but did affect our stay: Sargaso was quite intense and kept us from being able to access the ocean during our stay. This was remedied by scooting on over to the beach clubs where the municipality seems to manage the sargaso a little more frequently. In addition, our internet was out for most of our stay. This was a system-wide outage, but did affect our ability to communicate with delivery services as well as access communication with family back home. In all, Irma’s place was as described aside from the issues mentioned. We rode bikes to town and it was accessible easily commuting this way. The communication and helpfulness was definitely the best part of the stay; Irma kept us up to speed on resolving issues we had as best a she could.

We spent a wonderful week at Mi Mar! The view from both terraces was breathtaking, and the location was peaceful and conveniently close to Puerto Morelos. Considering the challenges of maintaining a beachfront property, we truly appreciated the unique details and creativity that went into the construction of this home—especially the stunning ceiling on the second floor and the way the palm tree shadows danced with the light in the fountain area on sunny days. While it’s not luxurious by typical U.S. standards, it’s a perfect vacation home for a group of 8 family members or friends. Appreciated owners fast communication and checking on us!

Loved our stay at Irma’s place. Location was great and right on the beach. She allowed us early check in which was so helpful coming on a ferry with our pup. Lots of space and most everything one could need. It’s incredibly private and quiet but also just a short drive to local restaurants. There was a ton of sargassum, which is normal this time of year, so we weren’t able to swim at the beach outside the house. Would definitely come back. The use of the bikes was an extra bonus!

It's a beautiful location and the house is amazing. I would book again 100%. My guests and I really loved the home and stay.

We loved our stay at Irma’s Mi Mar. I recommend having a car while you are here so that you can easily get around town and take a day trip to the local cenotes. The veranda is nicely shaded to sit and relax or have dinner. The breeze travels off the ocean to through the house. We didn’t need the air conditioners but they work extremely well. I fell asleep to the sound of the waves and had only the screen closed on our patio each night. A great place!

Our family of 6 adult and 2 kids really enjoyed this place. Great location right on the beach. No vendors hawking their wares. Easy access to the water The house is not fancy but has everything you need. Lots of beach towels, 2 big beach umbrellas, drinking water, beach chairs, everything you need in the kitchen. Washer dryer, lots of hot water Could use a hair dryer Cece had the first floor bedroom twin beds made into a king for us which we appreciated A easy taxi ride to town It is a perfect place for families We had different families coming early and going late and Cece accommodated them Cece and Irma responded quickly and even referred us to a doctor. Then followed up to see if everything was ok and if there was anything they could do We would definitely stay there again ❤️

The description of this house is quite fair in some respects but here is what we would have liked to have known before booking. First, the photos show the house in a much better light than reality. She has been suffering from a blatant lack of maintenance for several years: - Indoor and outdoor paint is in poor condition. - there were traces of what seemed to us to be mold on a few walls. - the kitchen falls into ruins: cracked countertops, wardrobe door falling, questionable cleanliness. Really dirty and non-functional hood. - the water pump makes a noise that is disturbing day and night. - Hot water is abnormally late to flow into showers and kitchen. It may take more than 5 minutes to arrive. - The shower in one of the bedrooms was not functional at all. - The kitchen air conditioner was not functional. - Cleaning was incomplete upon arrival.

Sweet beach house . Nothing fancy. Not terribly clean but yer on the beach!

The place had a good view. Had all what we needed. Plenty of towels. Kitchen was stocked ok with basics. The weather was super hot. All the rooms had a/c and worked well, which was a great plus during our stay. Irma was very responsive. Her recommendations for all the restaurants was awesome. The Blue Morales was our favorite. They owned a snorkeling business, so the boat came and picked kids up for snorkeling and droppped them back. The taxi driver (David) Irma recommended was very punctual, responsive and very friendly. The only issue we had was the with the transfer services that Irma recommended (Jin- ride Mexico). The communication was very bad, kept sending drivers that barely spoke English, and messed up our times. But the stay was great .The views were amazing. There is an Iguana that lives on the patio. The kids had fun feeding papaya to the Iguana. Saw Several wild animals like raccoons and some others. We did not have any trouble though. The house does need some updating

Hi Sandhya , I am sorry for the miscommunication about your pick up. I followed up after reading review. Jin said your original pick up time was 11:30, and the night before you changed it to 1030 which he did not see until today and for that reason was 30 minutes late… I apologize, for that error, but Jin is a local Service who is very reputable. It is always much much more expensive getting from the airport to your house because of the union; only licensed drivers can leave the airport, like the company that I referred you to, Jin . But moving around, and getting back to the airport, you can use Puerto Morelos taxis and it’s much more affordable. That’s why I gave you my taxi driver’s contact. Thank you for coming , I appreciate your feedback.

Our stay at Mi Mar was very comfortable and peaceful! The house was so beautiful, and the beach access was amazing. We walked into Puerto Morelos a few times (~35 minutes on the beach) for dinner or drinks. Parking and finding the house was easy, and Irma and Cece were very helpful in making sure we got in safe and sound. They were also great about making sure we had enough drinking water before we even asked, and they were reassuring about the local wildlife! We loved lounging on the beach chairs, having movie nights, and really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen (which had some essentials to get us started). Can't wait to come back!

The Mi Mar is a great place just outside of town. Very private and quiet neighbourhood. Beautiful beach right out front. Beach is visible from almost all bedrooms and it is a stellar view. Loved visits from 2 iguanas on the back deck! Cece was super responsive and helpful. The sea air does take a bit of a toll on things like door and window hardware and hot was a bit spotty but Cece would take care of things very promptly and efficiently. Overall, a really comfortable place to stay with a small group. 40 min walk into town for us. Loved the walk. If you have mobility challenges, renting a car could be helpful.

We were four people and had tons of space in this house. The kitchen had everything we needed (we especially liked the blender) and the pictures describe the place well. Large, simple and beautifully-located villa at the beach. 5min drive to Puerto Morelos town. Perfect communication with the host, who was extremely kind and gave us quick feedback to our questions.

Host Response

Gracias Dennis! Nos da gran gusto haberlos complacido y que hayan disfrutado tanto su estancia en Mi Mar! Nos esmeramos siempre en cada huésped!

MI-Mar is a fantastic find! Plan on renting bikes a head of time and use them to explore the surrounding area, including the easy, safe ride into the town for yummy food, shopping, and other amenities. Then come home and jump in the refreshing ocean water for a relaxing swim. Bring a mask because the nearby pier is a great place to catch sight of cool ocean life! Sleep with the balcony doors open and enjoy the nighttime sounds of soothing waves and breezes. Don't be surprised if an iguana visits to sun itself in the wam, soft sand. Lounge on comfy furniture inside and out, and absorb the casual beach vibe! Ahhh! Oh and should you need anything, Irma and Cece are very quick to answer questions and they make great recommendations! Highly, highly recommend Mi-Mar and hope to return soon!!

Host Response

Mil gracias Rees por haber elegido Mi Mar; nos encanta saber del extraordinario tiempo que pudiste disfrutar y estaremos felices de recibirte nuevamente!

This was a great place to stay. Description and photos matched well. I would highly recommend. We had a problem with a light and it was fixed right away. Make sure to ask for a water refill in advance of when you need it as it can take some time for the service to drop it off. Other than that very minor issue, every thing was fantastic. The kitchen was well stocked and the appliances were great. We cooked most meals. Only caution is the water in front of the place is a boat channel so you will have to find a marked swimming area if you want to go more than 15 to 20 feet out into the water.

One of the best airbnb experiences we've ever had. The house has lovely views of the sea from almost every room and is so quiet and comfortable. It was everything we wanted, making our family vacation and mother's 75th birthday celebration one to remember. Additionally Cece was incredible! So helpful and kind, always quick to respond with excellent suggestions for restaurants and things to do. She also went above and beyond by making us a doctor's appointment. We hope to have the opportunity to come back next year. Truly an unforgettable special place.

Host Response

Thank you so much Karen! I’m happy it was a memorable trip and I hope to see you next year! Be well!

We had a great stay at Mi-Mar! Suzy is very helpful and quick to respond. There were a couple of issues with the house that were beyond her control but she did her best to make it right quickly. We were looking for a home to suit our family for a private beach vacation and this place delivered! Beautiful surroundings and unbeatable sunrises. There are lots of tropical fish around the nearby pier if you like to snorkel and the backyard offers plenty of sun or shade. The house is spacious and quiet with gorgeous ocean views. It's about a 1/2 hour walk or a 15 minute bike ride or $15 cab ride into town. I highly recommend it for a private vacation away from the busyness of the hotels.

We had an excellent time at the house. It was the perfect way to spend the last couple of weeks in Mexico before we flew home. It was relaxing, very quiet(though some construction was starting a few houses away as we left). The sunrise hits the house first thing in the morning over the water, the beach at the end of the garden was great (although Sargassum is an issue here, as is most of the Riviera Maya) and a great patio area to relax and watch the world go by. The property has everything you need. Internet was fibre, stable and ~250mbps Down & ~50Mbps Up. We cooked everyday with no problems. The laundry facilities were a great addition as well, saving us having to risk a laundromat. Supermarkets and the town of Puerto Morelos are all a short drive away. Parking is just outside the property on a private space enough for 2/3 cars. There is a gated area within the property which you could use to park a car/bike within the property bounds if you wished. However the area is very safe, quiet and has no through traffic at all. While the property is well equipped, it would be fair to say that it does need a little TLC and some investment to get it up to a higher standard. However for us and what we were looking for it matched our needs perfectly. Susy was great throughout our stay. We had a couple of problems on the first couple of days that were teething issues. She resolved them for us very quickly. There was potential for a Hurricane to hit the coast and she kept us up to date each day with the weather reports. It ended up missing Mexico thankfully. She was also very forthcoming with recommendation for local bars/restaurants in Puerto Morelos and thankfully accommodated our request for a later checkout as our flight left a little later in the day. Highly recommend this place
