Wow ! One of the best Airbnb i’ve stayed. Truly felt home, very relaxying, snorkeling was awesome, little walk on the mountains, everything perfect. Would easily be my everyday home. Gracias !!

I liked everything. Ian's service was really great. Just keep in mind that the electricity at the place is only from solar panels, which makes the air conditioning a bit complicated, since it can only be used for a few hours. And since there were 6 of us, it was an issue, but we managed. I think in hot weather it's something I would take into account. And there's nothing and nobody around, but everything else was fine.

The first impression when you arrive at the lighthouse is that it's a bit far from civilization. That's good and bad, since you have to go out to do shopping. When you enter the residence, you are pleasantly surprised by how the furniture is organized and arranged. Everything is very functional. The rooms are nice, cozy and have great views. The sunrises are wonderful and the nights are stunning. The cool thing is that the house is sustainable! I recommend that you do your shopping before you arrive, since the nearest town is 25 km away. We did some shopping the next day and went to El Centenario for food, but allow for an hour and a half between trips and shopping time. Be careful because there is a lot of livestock and wildlife on the road. It is a very nice place to stay.

If you're going to choose a house to build a vacation around, this is it! A private beach with a reef to snorkle right out front and kayaks provided to explore the shoreline. Grocery options within a 20 min easy drive and all you need to cook inside with a large table to share the meals. Beds were comfortable and we just can't say enough about the location. We had no issues with the solar and plenty of electricity and water being mindful without being wasteful. I'd you're looking for a unique beachfront home to really feel the Baja beach vibe, choose El Faro.

Faro Romain was more than we had hoped. Built by a thoughtful couple just a few years ago, I couldn’t suggest a single improvement. Our weekend was about stargazing, kayaking, beach fires, exploring tide pools, looking for sea glass, and making/sharing meals. This was my Christmas present to my adult kids and I’m glad they were able to join. A weekend at the lighthouse will definitely be on my calendar when in La Paz next winter. IMO, the lighthouse is a minimum of 3-4 nights stay next time!

amazing location. The birds are one of my favorite, sitting and watching them dive into the water is the best.

The lighthouse is beautiful and unique. It is truly a great experience from enjoying the ocean from all views, beachfront, starry skies and beautiful scenery with gorgeous sunrises from the bedroom. The place is great for probably up to 5-6 people since there is only 1.5 bathrooms, shower pressure is not great making showering taking longer if all people have to shower after a day in the beach and outside in nature. The kitchen has basic necessities and since we love to cook we didn’t quite have enough. Had to buy a sharp knife to cut out fresh fish. It would be helpful to have a cooler when grocery shopping or going out to the beach. There are flies and mosquitoes at night but nothing we didn’t expect when staying in the beach. However, we were not expecting vermin (mice)since we found 1 of our apples munched out one morning and then the whole kitchen and living room with droppings. The check in and check out was very convenient. Parking is easy and felt very safe and comfortable

Staying in the lighthouse apartment was absolutely perfect! The space is beautifully decorated, very spacious, and extremely comfortable – especially the bed, which guarantees a great night’s sleep. The view of the ocean is breathtaking, and the peace and quiet make this place ideal for complete relaxation. The nights are truly magical – being able to watch the stars from the terrace is an unforgettable experience. Everything was spotless, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for tranquility, beauty, and an authentic seaside escape.

Such a unique place to stay in a gorgeous location, not far away from La Paz. But far enough to be completely out of the city. Loved the bedroom at the top, waking up and looking out over the ocean. A surprise was the treasure room that we were able to get into at the top of the lighthouse. We did the treasure hunt the owners have set up. Very cool and unexpected. We got a day pass at the hotel nearby and hung out there for the whole day. A fantastic stay was had by all.

For an intimate place, to disconnect from the world for a stay while being in comfort, it's ideal. Exotic, comfortable and well-equipped place, for our family of 6, it was perfect! The sea is calm, snorkeling is breathtaking, marine life is very active. We were able to see species that we had not been able to see before. It's calm and absolute privacy, if that's what you're looking for, it's perfect! thank you for the unforgettable stay!

We had an unforgettable stay at the Lighthouse in El Cajete! Ian was a great host, responsive and friendly. He met us at the lighthouse and went over everything with us when we arrived. We had a late fight, and it was nice of him to meet us to go over the lighthouse with us. We woke up to amazing views of the Sea of Cortez and went to bed to breathtaking sunsets! My wife and I usually sleep in on vacations, however, at the lighthouse we couldn’t help waking up early to enjoy the sunrise and going for a walk on the beach. We enjoyed sitting by the pool at El Encanto, a close by restaurant. They have wonderful food and are super friendly. You can also order from them, and they will deliver which makes it nice for eating breakfast on the beach or dinner on the beach while you enjoy the sunset. We will defiantly be staying at the lighthouse the next time we come to La Paz!!

Phenomenal experience ❤️

Certainly one of the most unique Airbnb stays we have had. Spectacular views, relatively private location complete with the sounds and smells of the sea with a canyon and mountainous backdrop. A very solid concrete structure and sounds of the waves allows for each bedroom to be essentially soundproof. Ian was obviously committed to facilitating a memorable stay, we appreciate when hosts introduce us to the property then make themselves available but allow privacy. So many interesting aspects of the location and dwelling, loved the outdoor heated shower. Tankless water heater takes some time to get used to but plenty of hot water to go around. Also plenty of solar energy for our group. Really great breakfast at the restaurant next door. A wetsuit was comfortable for distance swimming but not needed for brief brisk swims & snorkeling (March stay). Would love to stay again.

One of our favorite spots we’ve ever stayed. Already looking forward to returning. A grand sense of space and autonomy; we were often the only people on the beach. Saw an octopus and squid while snorkeling. Really appreciated the kayaks for great adventures up the coast. Tons of room for lots of people. Lots of beaches and fun dirt roads to explore up the coast, lovely trails nearby. Ian was a great host, very responsive and friendly. Highly recommended!

We had an excellent experience at Faro Romain. The hosts were very respnsive and accomodating. The lighthouse structure provided a unique stay that was comfortable, peaceful and had great views. We enjoyed the use of the kayaks and snorkle gear, which were in good condition. One mornimg we saw a pod of dolphins swim right in front of the the lighthouse. It was an incredible experience. Our stay at the Romain Lighthouse was the highlight of our trip to Baja.

Wow, wow, wow. What a beautiful location. We absolutely loved our stay. The unique lighthouse build was truly special, the surprise in the top room was a fun experience, and the view was fantastic. We enjoyed sitting out in the beach chairs to watch the stars and again to watch the sunset. It was a windy two days so we didn’t get to kayak but there was no place better to enjoy a couple of days with fairly bad weather. The kitchen was great for cooking and the rocks along the beach were fun to explore and find puffer fish. We will be back with more family since there is plenty of room!

Staying at Faro Romain was an unbelievable experience. From watching the immense sea across from a high view, to star gazing at night and waking up to a sunrise where a school of dolphins swam to get their breakfast. The abundance of sea life right at the rocky beach and the view of the rugged coastal mountains was breathtaking. I enjoyed cooking in their large kitchen and spending quiet hours reading and relaxing. It’s very close to La Paz and yet one felt like being at the end of the earth. A littoral paradise. The faro is big enough to host a large group of people and enjoy a memorable time. I congratulate them for having the vision to build such a special place which fits remarkably well in its surroundings. We’ll definitely look into staying there again.

The lighthouse is really unique. My favorite part was the top floor bedroom and the terrace surrounding it. You can sit and listen to the waves and watch the sunrise and sunset. Inside is very well designed & neat. The beach is right outside your door, a little rocky and some fish skeletons (my dog was thrilled!), very calm waves & friendly locals hanging out. To eat there is a restaurant just a short walk down the beach, good food and drinks. Hosts were very easy to get in touch with and helpful!

Our 25th anniversary trip was all about relaxation and epic experiences, & Ian’s lighthouse incredible & exceeded all of our expectations! We took a leap of faith on a new listing with few reviews, and it paid off more than we could have ever imagined. The location meant we were completely immersed in the peaceful, natural beauty surrounding us. Yet, inside, we had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were heavenly, & the AC kept us cool. The real magic was right outside. The water's edge provided endless entertainment: snorkeling, vibrant fish, kayaking, daily pelican gatherings (over 40 one day!), and watching local fishermen. Be sure to walk to the amazing restaurant next door. Ian was fantastic! He even stopped by one cloudy day to make sure we had enough power & water. Despite the "off-grid" nature of the stay, we never once felt worried about running out during our 8 day trip. If you're looking for an adventure, this lighthouse is an absolute must!

We absolutely loved The Lighthouse! It is about as off grid as I like for a relaxing stay. No TV, no radio (internet is fast and reliable), no traffic noise… only the wind, the waves and the seabirds to reset a hectic brain. The water is from a cistern, which Ian kept full for us, the power is from solar and the cooking is propane, so Faro Romain is self-sufficient and quiet. It was only a couple hundred meters to the Beach Club Restaurant for a couple of our meals and adult beverages, but we mostly stocked up in La Paz and enjoyed the peaceful setting. We spent 9 days here and we didn’t want to leave. We are already taking about bringing more of our family back to stay again.

It is an exceptional place, highly recommended to go with family or with a partner. The view from the lighthouse's bedroom is amazing, in the night you can see the stars from the bed and in the morning the wonderful colors of the sunrise. From the lightho we were able to spot dolphins in the morning, we went kayaking and we also saw a lot of fish. We had to reopen a restaurant 3 minutes away walking by the beach. But you can also cook in the Lighthouse because the kitchen is equipped with everything you need. It matters to take groceries because the tents are not close. I highly recommend it, Ian and Cecilia are always very attentive.

Quite simply, the most idyllic, peaceful, adventurous and spiritual AirBnB I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying. I think I experienced some kind of life changing moment while living in Ian’s beautiful light house ‘El Faro’. One night I played guitar in the master suite and watched the sealife swimming in the ocean as the sun set. Another I sat alone on the beach and looked up at the endless stars. This Airbnb does give you the sensation of being isolated (it’s 40 minutes to the closest large supermarket) however that’s exactly why you want to stay here. Just do it. You won’t regret it. Plus Ian and his wonderful family were terrific hosts and made me feel comfortable even tho I was staying alone. I run a company in the US and needed great wifi for video calls - Ian has set up star link which was the best wifi speed I’ve had anywhere in Mexico! Truly magical. I’ve recommended it to everybody I know. If you’re reading this, just go for it and enjoy the most unique stay of your life!

Amazing place. If you’ve ever wondered “wouldn’t it be awesome to stay in a lighthouse?” The answer is yes, yes it is. Sunrise over the water was exceptional. We had fun on the recommended hike; would have loved to kayak but was a little too windy the days we were there. Ian was super helpful. You’ll want to grab food, gas, etc on your way in since it’s a little bit of a drive to get to a store. Peaceful and private. Would love to go back.

Like much of Mexico, the home was located down a dirt track. As we arrived late, it was interesting going from the road to the residence. The property is a 30 minute drive outside La Paz. While the waterline by the property is rocky, it is next to a nice beach. Schools of fish jumping in the morning and evening brought plenty of pelicans and herons. I am told whale sharks frequent but we did not see any. The upper bedroom is spectacular with a fantastic view out over the water and a balcony to view the surroundings. The locals beach brings in a few people during the day, but they were a quarter mile off. There is also a small hotel in walking distance but there were no guests at the time of our visit. If you want a safe, secure, quiet time listening to the waves, watching the stars, or having a beach fire then this is the place. Really great host family made everything easy. A highly recommended experience.
