We had a great stay at Jays place. It was peaceful and beautiful and we all had a great time. Jefferson, the caretaker, was very friendly, and was always available if we needed anything. Thanks for a great stay!

Had an amazing time here, so close to the beach and a great big pool in the backyard. Jefferson and his mother were great and answered all of our questions about local restaurants, places to get groceries, and tours. We even had a power outage at one point, and Jefferson came over to talk to us, something that happens from time to time. But the power was back on within the hour. Really appreciated the fresh towels since we left ours outside to dry and the rain got them even more wet. The house itself was very spacious, and everything worked great. Would definitely stay here again

This place was better than expected. The pictures don’t even do it justice. It’s a little out-of-the-way, but that’s exactly what we wanted. The beach and the views on the bay were beautiful. We might have seen a total of four other people on the beach. We felt completely safe. Jefferson and his mom live on part of the property and they were so helpful. Jefferson booked massages for us. We ended up accidentally scratching our rental car pretty badly so we were trying to look at the damage and see what we could do to fix it. But Jefferson‘s mom came out helped us wash the car waxed it for us and fix the damage that we had. She was amazing. She even got coconuts for us and opened them up so that we could have them to drink. The Pacific Beach is a little rough at high tide but this was the perfect time to use the pool. We saw turtle eggs and monkeys on the inlet. We got to walk out and get mangoes to have a breakfast. This is an excellent place to stay!

Casa Blanco was exactly the peaceful retreat that my children and I needed. The location is remote enough to feel secluded and close enough to town to easily access groceries or a meal out. We intentionally chose not to stay in a high tourist area, however, we were close enough to access all of the activities if we chose too. Manuel Antonio was an easy drive and we really enjoyed the Manuel Antonio Beach for swimming in calmer waters. The house itself was the perfect amount of space for myself and 3 teens. As a woman travelling solo with her kids I felt safe. Jefferson made sure that we had everything we needed and the grounds were impeccable. My kids enjoyed swimming in the pool and combing the beach for sand dollars. I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a simple, quiet, authentic Costa Rican vacation. Pura Vida 🌊☀️

I had a misunderstanding with Jay at check-in regarding the parking spot, and I sent a very rude message. As a business owner, I would suggest that there are more polite and respectful ways to address a customer. Also, I asked him well in advance about the possibility of a late check-out; he told me we would discuss it later, but he never got back to me. We arrived earlier than scheduled because we came early due to the Easter weekend traffic, and we asked if we could leave our luggage and check in later. The lady who attended to us said yes and opened the house for us, but apparently, this also bothered Jay, who used it as an excuse to tell us that we had to check out at 10:00 a.m. “without exception.” I hadn't had a vacation in 3 years, and after those setbacks, I wasn't able to enjoy it the same way. 😔. Likewise, when we left, we left the house before 10:00 a.m. We left it swept, everything clean, tidied up, and put away… with an incredible amount of stress, because the last thing I wanted was to get any more messages.

Host Response

I normally don’t ever leave a bad review and didn’t this time either but this needs a response. They arrived 3 hours before the check-in time parked the car in the middle of our yard. Asked politely to move the car. Did not until later. Was told the house was not ready and decided to make lunch for her family. Was incredibly rude to my caretaker that with all our reviews is the sweetest person maybe in Costa Rica. Asked them to check out on time because we had another group checking in that day. With the arrival being such a pain I wanted to make sure they knew it was a 10 am checkout. I even got a text from Luz Marie about how rude they were to her which was further upsetting. Not sure not having a vacation in 3 years is a good reason to be rude to anybody.

We had an awesome stay at Jay’s beautiful property! We rented one cottage while friends of ours rented the cottage next door and it was so great! We loved that the beach was RIGHT across the street and enjoyed our coffee in the mornings from the covered high porch. While out running in the mornings we saw lots of wildlife including monkeys! The property managers were super friendly and helpful and were able to help with recommendations. The area is quite secluded so you’ll definitely need a vehicle. There’s a great little restaurant right down the road when you come down palo seco road. We will definitely be back and will absolutely recommend this gem of a place to others!

This is a wonderful place in a beautiful and peaceful setting. It is a compound with 3 houses yet also very private. The beach is right across a sleepy dirt road and within 3 minutes you are in the water. The beach is very wide and great for walking anytime of the day. The compound also has a pool and is bound on one side by a tidal estuary. There are lots of iguanas, birds and some friendly beach dogs. In front of each house there is an open thatched roof room up on stilts which has a beautiful breeze all day long. The house is very comfortable and was very clean. Luz, a local host, is right next door and can help with most questions or issues if they come up. Although we did not come with small children this is a great place for families as the pool is right there and the beach / ocean is fairly calm and very warm. We hope to return
