4BR Villa in Merida

Blanca

Excellent, 2 weeks ago

Excellent place! Highly recommended. Also, the host was very friendly, answered questions very quickly, and gave us several recommendations.

Monica is an excellent host. Unfortunately, we had problems with the water system. She responded quickly to fix it, but the system continued to fail. The stove was not there, and we had a grill, which failed, and they provided us with a new one. But this one would heat up and then turn off. We found the pool dirty on the first day. The rest of the amenities were as described. The house is very nice and comfortable . Let's hope they can fix these problems. Best regards Aida

Casa Yuca is beautiful. Its exterior doesn't reveal what it's like inside. Architectural details that are appreciated. Ideal for staying with children; the pool is deep on one side, and you have to keep a close eye on the little ones. Flawless beds. Spotless bathrooms. The best thing is Mónica's service, which is very prompt and attentive. Convenient location, especially if you have your own car. It's not that close to the most touristy streets.

The house is really cool; it has private parking (I parked a minivan); it's 5 minutes from downtown by car; and a couple of blocks away on foot, there's a market and a park where you can eat and try a marquesita. The area is quiet, the beds and pillows are very comfortable, and there is A/C in all the rooms. Simply a highly recommended place to stay. Mónica is a very friendly person and responds to messages quickly. She was able to be flexible with check-in and check-out times, and I appreciate that. She was very helpful during our stay in Mérida.

My group (there were 7 of us in Mérida for our friends’ wedding) absolutely loved Casa Yuca. Each couple or person had their own privacy but there was also great space for the group to gather. We loved the indoor/outdoor living and all of the wonderful plants. We were grateful to have both the pool and the ACs since there was a heatwave while we were there. Beds were comfy, kitchen had everything we needed, and the space was just very cool and comfortable. On a quiet street which was easily walkable to many restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Monica!

Monica’s home was extremely comfortable and in an amazing location. I was traveling with my husband and 2 other couples. Having private en-suite bathrooms in each room plus a half bath made it super comfortable, and the spacious kitchen and living room were perfect for our group. The location was amazing, we walked everywhere locally, but also had parking for our rental car to take day trips to cenotes and the beach. The amenities and appliances available were great. We walked to the market to get fresh produce and made guacamole, salsa, and blended cocktails and felt like we had everything we needed. Our only complaint was that the hot water in the showers ran out a little quick to be able to have 2 people take showers back to back. This wasn’t a big deal though and easily overlooked by how incredible everything else was. We had the best time and I would recommend staying here to anyone!

Us and 2 other couples were there for a friend's wedding, so the design and layout could not have been any better. The separation of the rooms from the kitchen/living/pool areas was perfect, giving us privacy when needed. The house had all the amenities one could need and the kitchen/living connections to the beautiful pool area and rooms opened everything up to enjoy wonderful mornings and evenings. The lighting and landscape lighting were designed very well illuminating all the landscape and pool area. Another great amenity was having air conditioning in all the living and bedrooms which made the warmer days perfectly comfortable. The furnishings and artwork were very nice and overall, a beautiful house. Surroundings were good with shopping and food close by with all other places to shop and eat a quick Uber ride away. We arrived late in the evening, and Monica as always responded quickly about where to go. WONDERFUL HOST & WONDERFUL HOUSE!!! We all loved it. Jon

My family just spent 7 great days at Monica’s house. It was just as advertised and exactly as it appeared in the pictures. We had 10 people and had plenty of space, the house was very comfortable and well equipped for a large group. The pool is beautiful, if a bit chilly, but definitely refreshing. Check in and check out couldn’t have been easier and Monica was extremely flexible and helpful with her instructions. I can’t really think of anything that the house was missing, there was plenty of towels, and the kitchen was well stocked. Some clearer instructions for the stove would have been helpful as it was confusing to work and turned on accidentally. The location was okay, it was located on a semi-busy street that was about a 15 minute walk from downtown and had a few good restaurants, a market and stores near by. The house includes a private parking spot and there is also street parking. A/C, internet, and washer/dryer were convenient. We had a great stay and can’t wait to return!

Monica contacted us a few days before our stay and gave us clear and precise instructions. The house is beautiful, the beds are comfortable, and I loved my bathroom—it had a shower with a large window and a skylight overlooking the garden. Everything was spotless. We loved the house and its layout; each room has its own privacy, but the living room is a very pleasant place for everyone to gather. We could easily walk to the city's tourist areas. Monica was very flexible with our departure time, and we would love to come back :)

I loved it, only one of the rooms smelled really bad, like a sewer pipe

Host Response

Hi Alexia, thank you so much for the observation, we are already taking care of solving that problem. We were very happy to welcome you and hope you'll be back soon!

Beautiful place. Optimal for multiple families or friends. Each bedroom is private with its own en-suite bathroom. Plus a common half bathroom accessible from the common space. The grand kitchen, dining, living room is spacious enough for two separate spheres of activity or socialization. The architectural detail of the house is extraordinary; the attention to detail—materials, line, and function—is stunning. Deep private lot with lush and elegantly illuminated landscaping. Felt like a retreat space. Proximate to all that the centro has to offer. Host was very responsive and accommodating. We would definitely come back. Highly recommended.

I can’t recommend Casa Yuca enough. Monica is incredibly helpful and responsive, the perfect host. She had provided us with essentials prior to our arrival, so we had filtered water and what we needed before going to the store. The house is spotless, everything is clean and tidy. The city center is within walking distance (main boulevard is a 25 min walk), but Ubers are easily available should you prefer that. And the house is absolutely stunning. It felt like a peaceful private oasis where you could disconnect from everything. We could have stayed there for another month. WiFi signal is good, TVs in every room if needed (though you probably won’t need it because you’re enjoying your surroundings so much). The water pressure is great. Showers are spacious and comfortable. I can’t recommend Casa Yuca and Monica enough!! We’ll definitely be back! Thank you so much for everything, Monica :)

Excellent, 1 year ago

Excellent place, which fulfills everything that is promised, very close to downtown Merida. Monica's service is unparalleled.

The house is amazing and spacious. It is within walking distance of all there is to experience in downtown Merida. We especially loved the garden and pool. The one regret we have is we didn’t use the delightful hammocks over the water because we were just so busy the entire trip! Monica went above and beyond as a host. She was attentive and accommodating and extremely responsive. We would love to stay again. I highly recommend this place!

We just saw one of the last reviews that was very bad and my friends and I can't imagine what they're talking about other than that maybe it was a competitor who stayed 1 night to leave a bad review. This place is so perfect and beautiful and we are so grateful to have stayed here! I hope to return. I can't think of any way to improve it. Everything was perfect, and exactly as shown in the photos. There was a brief problem with the electricity on the last day, but the problem was not the property's fault, and Monica was incredibly quick to respond and resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

The property has potential, it's a pity that it's too neglected in every way When we arrived at the house we realized that it was not clean, the beds did not have a change of sheets or bedspreads, there was garbage, the kitchen was dirty and smelled bad, there were no bath towels or shampoo or body soap or hand soap, the air conditioning in one of the bedrooms gave off a very unpleasant smell from the bathroom pipe when it was turned on. The shower curtain was full of mold and mildew, and in the shower area in the corners there was no hot water in the two bathrooms at the back of the house. We took photos of all this for evidence. The icing on the cake was at check-out time, at 10:50, when 10 people arrived, opening the front door and entering the bedrooms and dining room, invading our privacy and scaring us, saying that they were the next guests of the house, which Monica never communicated to me, since they were supposed to arrive at 3 pm, preventing us from checking out of the house.

Host Response

What's a shame is that Airbnb allows these types of unsubstantiated feedback, when we sent evidence that Catalina received special treatment, was allowed to enter the house ahead of time, and still did not respect the rules, did not want to evict the house at the indicated time, caused discomfort to the following guests, used false information and photos to try to manipulate us, and was conflicting from the start. Also, I insisted that I had experience as a host, but the profile she used to book is less than a month old, and no reviews. At Casa Yuca, we give a vote of confidence in the integrity of the guests, and in this case we were disappointed. Catalina's bad intention is evident, her comments are false, and that can be checked by reviewing the overwhelming majority of excellent reviews we have received from previous guests, because our priority is and will always be to offer a unique, high quality experience in our space.

The place was clean and well stocked. It was centrally located and within walking distance of the historical district and La Plancha park. Plenty of room for larger groups. Beds were very comfortable and separate climate control in each bedroom allowed the guests to choose their comfort level. Front bedroom gets some street noise but this would not keep us from staying here again. Pool was a plus. The host was very communicative and got back quickly with any questions. Loved the stay. Thanks for your hospitality.

I took my parents, aunt, and family friends to the Yucatán for a fortnight. We spent 6 nights in Merida, and choosing Monica's place proved an excellent decision. The house is exquisitely designed and decorated. Everything is tastefully curated. We had the most delightful evenings by the pool or in the welcoming living room. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms felt incredibly luxurious, with the high ceilings and light wells. The house is but 10-minutes walk from Santa Lucia where Apoala serves gourmet meals. The market two streets from the house has much simpler, yet excellent breakfast and lunch places. Monica's communication was on par with everything else. My mother had an issue with her eyes and Monica immediately recommended doctors for us. I cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks, Monica, for the most comfortable stay I've had through AirBnB.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Yuca!! We went from celebrating Thanksgiving upon our arrival to shopping/enjoying Merida, to preparing/celebrating a wedding and reception in Merida and finally having some down time to relax following the event in Merida. This place was perfect for all of the different things we were doing. My daughter-in-law reached out to Monica about us wanting to bake when we arrived...so she bought a couple of perfect little baking sheets...so we had some chocolate chip cookies and shared them with friends and family who were attending the wedding. <3 We loved our stay and would enjoy staying there in the future!! Thanks Monica!

My party of six stayed for four nights on vacation. As Americans on our first trip to Mexico we were pleased with everything. The apartment itself is gorgeous and features a blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. The four bedrooms felt private for everyone yet there was great shared central spaces too. All the expected amenities were top notch. Parking spot was helpful too. The city of Merida was a joy to explore, especially this neighborhood. There is a cute park and church a short walk away with lots of food options. The recommended places on the host list were good suggestions too! Salon Gallos was an oat mill converted to a resteraunt and theater and was a cool experience we never would have found on our own. Thank you for a great first time in Mexico!

Casa Yuca is an excellent place to stay for large groups of friends and family. We were a family of 10 and were very comfortable throughout our stay. The house is beautiful with a very modern and naturist design. The location is excellent, close to shops and even a local market. A few blocks from downtown and restaurants. Very easy to access. I do not recommend 100% booking house Yuca for your next stay in Merida. Also Monica was very friendly and maintained very good communication.
