7BR Villa in San Miguel de Allende

This is a very special place. We were 6 women staying here, hosted by Rosario, who made sure our meals were perfect and that we felt at home. I couldn’t recommend this place more highly. Gorgeous. Spacious. Comfortable.

The house was absolutely incredible, truly beyond what we expected. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were stepping into a private retreat. The heated pool was a dream, perfect for relaxing at any time of day, and the outdoor spaces offered countless places to unwind, enjoy a morning coffee, or share laughs in the evening. Every area of the property felt thoughtfully designed for comfort and enjoyment. As wonderful as the house was, Rosario was what truly set this experience apart. She didn’t just maintain the home; she brought it to life. Her warmth, hospitality, and care made us feel completely at home from day one. And her cooking? Absolutely exceptional. Every meal felt like a special occasion, and her culinary skills turned what was already a 9/10 experience into a perfect 10/10. She elevated our stay in every way possible. We couldn’t recommend this home or Rosario more highly. It was an unforgettable stay and we’re already dreaming about coming back!

How wonderful that your visit was so terrific. Villa Mariposa is a special place and we are happy you were able to appreciate all that it has to offer!

We were so excited to stay at the villa ! It is just beautiful - very authentic, has so much character and charm. The beds were so comfortable! Ubers are extremely easy, as this house is a bit up the hill from town. We did have an issue with construction behind the home creating some unfortunate noise. However, Jason made this right. We appreciate it. Rosario is an absolute DOLL. She felt so bad about the noise, and was emotional about it. This broke our hearts. As construction company owners, we understand this occurs, we just didn't know about it. It ended up ok! Rosario cooked for us every morning, and her sister was amazing too! On our last day, they made us an amazing dinner! It was hard to say goodbye. The house is VERY large, it's easy to get lost (or at least it was for me), and this added to the privacy and grand feel. There is a lot of history with this beautiful property. We would highly recommend, and are hoping construction eases soon! Thank you!

This was our second year staying at Villa Mariposa. The house is lovely and accommodates a group. Lots of places to gather and also for solitude. The house staff is amazing, they make guests feel like it’s five star hotel! The meals are amazing. After a day exploring San Miguel it is so nice to come home to a meal that is better than any restaurant in the city. We are already planning next years visit.

The house was exactly as described and as the photos, we booked the house for our wedding guests and people had a good time staying there. We were told the staff were very helpful and attentive! Slight issue with check-in but was quickly resolved on the spot. The stay was in early January so quite cold at night, and the gas heaters didn’t work so well, am sure it is an easy fix so perhaps one to raise for next guests - the stay was otherwise very good overall it seems.

This was a fabulous location to stay in in SMA. My family of 13 was so comfortable; plenty of room. The place was absolutely gorgeous. Rosario and her sister Lolita took care of every need. Rosario‘s cooking was amazing we only got to have dinner one night because we had so many plans but the morning breakfasts were fabulous And always a supply of chips and salsa during the day for anyone to snack on. I 100% would recommend this place to anyone visiting San Miguel de Allende . five days was not enough! Many of my guests did walk to and from town but others chose to Uber/taxi and that was very easy. We did some wonderful hiking tours , music tours , ATV excursions and lots of fun shopping and fantastic restaurants. We were visiting for a family wedding but I would certainly go back. Thank you Nancy for offering this fabulous location and thank you to Rosario for making us feel so welcome.

Our family stayed here for our wedding and it was such a wonderful family experience. It was so comfortable with many nooks to relax and enjoy the environment. Rosario took care of us like family and cooked the most delicious meals. The pool was clean and we used it extensively. We couldn’t ask for anything more to make this family gathering perfect!!

What a great place to stay in San Miguel! Highly recommend!

This was the first time visiting San Miguel De Allende. It is a beautiful town, very historic. The house was exactly as described. As we arrived, we felt welcomed by Rosario. She was very welcoming and inviting. She gave us a tour of the residence and insured we had everything we needed. She was a real pleasure to have as guide for where to shop and how to get around the town. Rosario arranged breakfast for us each day and arranged a dinner/lunch for us. The food was excellent. The days were stayed were on the warmer side, so it was very nice to have the pool available. They even heated the pool for us. It made it very comfortable in the middle of the day. There were 13 of us that visited and we had plenty of room. The bed rooms were very spacious and each one has its own bathroom. Rosario and her crew kept everything clean and checked in with us before leaving for the day to make sure we didn’t need anything. Nancy and Jason were easy to communicate with. Thank you for hosting us.

We went to the Villa Mariposa as a group of 9 friends, and absolutely loved the house and swimming pool. Each bedroom was great in its own way and had an ensuite bathroom. The views were excellent, especially at sunset, and the bougainvillea were in bloom and added to the architectural beauty of the villa. Rosario made great dinners (and margaritas), including a very special birthday dinner. When we realized the electric fans were broken, the owner had them replaced right away. Some guests said they had issues with mosquitoes in the rooms, but the fans helped.

We absolutely loved our stay here! We were a group of friends traveling here for a wedding and this was the perfect oasis to relax in between the festivities. Rosario and the staff on-site were so amazing and helpful - she made us a delicious breakfast each morning and was extremely accommodating. The property is stunning and has incredible views of the city. It is slightly outside the center of town, but we enjoyed having a more peaceful home base with more outdoor space and pool. I would absolutely stay here again!

We left with an entirely new perspective on Mexico. San Miguel is a treasure, the people, the food and the weather. Villa Maraposa is exactly as described. Rosario and the staff set the gold standard for caring for guests. She is a gourmet creative cook and works so hard to be sure she cares for guests . The cobblestones are a menace to walk on but taxis are plentiful and very inexpensive. Being there during Holy Week was an unforgettable experience. We did a walking tour and 2 day trips with a local guide Antonio Gomez Hernandez who was excellent, a cooking class with Rosario and another at a nearby cooking school. We were sad to leave but know we will be back next year.

This was the greatest Airbnb we have stayed at. The pictures can't capture how beautiful and expansive the property is. We were contacted ahead of time and connected with the house staff. They had the most amazing and authentic dinner waiting for us when we arrived. The chef and House Manager Rosita made delicious food for us each day and helped with any errands we needed and provided great guidance and advice. She really made the trip extra nice and we were very thankful to have her around. The property was cleaned each day and everything is immaculate. Each of the rooms have a ton of space, privacy, something unique, and a lot of character. The trip into town was just a few dollars and few minutes in an Uber. I would highly recommend this property for various different reasons. We could not think of anything that needs improvement because the entire stay was perfect. This house could host a large group and never feel crowded.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Villa Mariposa! We had a large group and leading up to our stay, Jason was so helpful and super responsive about questions. The house management company also helped us arrange for transportation to/from the airport and made everything so seamless. The villa is stunning with beautiful rooms with views over San Miguel and the pool area is magical. What stood out the most about our stay though was Rosario, the house manager. She greeted us so kindly upon arrival and she and the rest of the staff made our group feel so cared for. A small breakfast each day is included but she and her sister can also prepare larger breakfasts, lunches, dinners, margaritas and guacamole (the best I've ever had) by the pool, upon request for an additional fee that was SO worth the cost. She also helped with local recs and so much more. Rosario went well above and beyond and made our experience incredibly memorable. We can't wait to return!

My grown family came together in San Miguel de Allende for the wedding of a close friend. It is a beautiful (and hilly) town. The house and Rosario and crew were fantastic! On the day we arrived Rosario prepared a delicious dinner complete with Margaritas. The rest of the week we had dinner plans out but Rosario prepared a full breakfast every morning that carried us to dinner time (and also left us with some midnight snacks!). Note that you pay extra for both the prep/cooking and the groceries but it is well worth it. The house itself is incredible and the pool was perfect. Plenty of space to come together in or find a quiet place for yourself. Nothing disappointed and the property management was very helpful arranging for transport to and from the airport. The house itself sits above the center of town (about a 20 minute walk down). Most days we ubered or taxied back up but we did walk it a couple of times and that was more than enough! Stay here! It will not disappoint!

Just landed after an amazing week in beautiful San Miguel de Allende. We had a retreat with 5 couples and the home was perfect - amazing views, beautifully decorated and very well cleaned and maintained. The home includes the most amazing staff, Rosario and her sister Lolita went out of their way to ensure every moment was perfect and their meals were out of this world. Rosario is a gem and made a great experience extraordinary!

This is really special place - fully of warm color, natural light, and beautiful Mexican art everywhere you look. There were nine of us and we had plenty of space to spread out and have privacy if wanted, or to gather in one of the communal spaces indoors or out. I echo the many reviews that talk about wonderful Rosario is -- she is really the warm heart of this house, and works hard to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Even though we arrived at 2am, she greeted us warmly, showed us around, and offered us warm homemade soup or tea (there was a very reasonable extra charge for her time). She arrived every morning to provide either a simple breakfast (coffee, juice, pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt and granola), or a full breakfast if we wanted it. We hired her to cook us a few dinners - all totally delicious and different, and she also gave us a wonderful cooking class. The house property manager was also responsive and helpful with ground transportation and other details.

My family and I had a wonderful time at Villa Mariposa. The house is absolutely welcoming, colorful and celebration of mexican style. More then adequate spaces for my large family to gather. Easily accessible to downtown, walking or a taxi. I have to say, the staff- is delightful. Rosario and family are all not only incredibly kind and accommodating but each dinner and breakfast was delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. Thank you SO much for contributing to an extraordinary family vacation!!! Miriam

We loved Rosario she was a gem she absolutely made our trip. We all cried when we had to leave her and her sister Lolita… One of the things that needs to be improved is the plumbing… And water and pressure for some of the showers… Other than that the beds were extremely comfortable and cozy, and everything about the place we loved… Nancy was very helpful when I couldn't get the right phone number to contact Rebecca… We had a wonderful experience… We will be back… Thank you, Nancy…

Rosario and her sister Lolita made us feel right at home. There were 9 women staying here and we didn’t want for anything our whole stay. Meals cooked and prepped, tables set, margaritas made, it was a dream! Views were beautiful and the space itself was massive. Transport can be arranged by the property management company in advance, too and from the airport. Thank you again Rosario and Lolita, we will never forget it!

About the house—-gorgeous!! Unbelievable. It’s a resort! Every room is amazing. We kept the pool heated and just had the most wonderful time relaxing by the pool. Let me tell you the pictures of the house do not do it Justice. It is a resort. About Rosario and the service—-the housekeeper Rosario and the staff are one of a kind. And went out of her way to take care of us. The food she made for us was truly authentic. She took care of everything. I wanted to take her home. All you have to do is wake up and enjoy the house and the vacation. While it’s a little extra to have her cook for you, we thought it was so worth it. We had the most amazing family vacation. About the rental place, before getting here, Rebecca the management staff communicated extremely well and she arranged trusted shuttles for us.

The accommodations were delightful; rooms were spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated with local arts and crafts. However, what truly made this place remarkable and unique was the presence of Rosario and her staff. She went above and beyond in accommodating all of our needs; preparing special meals, shopping for specialty items and even accompanying one guest to a local immigration office to secure replacement exit papers!

I wish there was a ten star rating as this place deserves one! The property was magical, authentic, spacious and perfect for a large group. As per the other reviews, the highlight of our stay was Rosario. She took care of EVERY need from food to pharmacy. I highly recommend taking advantage of her meal services…you won’t be disappointed! San Miguel is charming beyond imagination. The property is a distance from the town center and it is a very steep climb. We walked down one time and taxied the remainder. Very easy and inexpensive to get taxi. Rosario can also help with that. I recommend taking pesos for Rosario for grocery runs and tips as it was explained it can be difficult to exchange US currency. Lovely, lovely, lovely time and property. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

We can’t say enough amazing things about this stay. The property is beautiful and the landscaping coupled with the indoor/outdoor spaces made it such a wonderful stay. The pool was heated to a great temp and made it usable regardless of weather. Rosario and her sister Julie literally MADE our trip. Do not hesitate to book most if not all of your meals with them. The food and attention to detail was unparalleled. Their service mindset was better than some of the 5 star resorts I’ve stayed at in Mexico (where people are just warm and hospitable in general). We can’t wait to return. We were a group of 6 and could definitely have comfortably had up to 12 adults. If anything we felt we underutilized some space and definitely had leftovers!

The house was better than the photos. Rosario and her sisters and other staff were amazing. I can't tell you how accommodating and kind they were. Great cooks too. The pool was lovely and there are lots of spaces to either congregate or be quietly on your own. The walk into town is not easy so just plan on taking cabs to town and back. It's only minutes away in a taxi. There were eight women in our party, Ages 65 to 80. We would return there in a minute!

Wow! Villa Mariposa and staff were all fantastic! We loved where we stayed, we loved the staff. The staff cooked and cleaned for us so we didn't have to worry about a thing. And the food and drinks the staff made was delicious. The staff was so accommodating and fun. We loved how we were away from the downtown core, but we were a short walk away from all the sights. It was a great place to stay & we'd go back again. Thank you to Nancy, Rebeca and Rosario and staff for an excellent vacation!

We loved Rosario! House elegant and great for our group of eight friends. Pool was a hit and we all loved our rooms

I cannot overstate how magical this house is. It made our stay so easy and fun. Rosaria (on-site cook and house manager) and her family were so delightful and accommodating. Every room had its quirks, and there were so many nooks to hang out in. The pool was heated and wonderful. The beds were made daily. The service was just top-notch. NOTE: This house is close to town as the crow flies, but it's straight down and over very precarious cobblestone streets. We only walked into town in tennis shoes during the daytime, and we cabbed back up (6-ish mins and $4 or $5. Very easy). STAY HERE!

The home was a great choice for our group. We used all 7 bedrooms with our party. The pool was great. But the best is the hospitality from Rosario and her family. They made us feel right at home and fed us amazing food for breakfast every day and one amazing dinner. SMA was also what we were looking for. Plenty to do. Not overwhelmed with visitors. A good mix of local flavor and comfort.

Amazing all around! The property is abolutely stunning and exactly as the photos/description describe. From the moment you walk through that incredible front gate all the way down to the twin bedroom, everything is lucious. Rosario and her sister take the experience to the next level. The host and the staff are communicative, helpful and gracious. Our group of 12 adults and young men ordered several meals and asked for help with directions, transporation, etc. The food was delicious and so was the advice. I can't say enough good things - the bedrooms are private and attend to every detail, the fireplaces are a bonus, and the pool was warm and inviting. We were able to be together when we wanted and have our own separate spaces when we needed it. The views and landscaping are incredible bonuses! 10+ in all ways. We walked down the hill several times but always took a taxi back up...will definitely stay again if we ever venture back to San Miguel.

Absolutely beautiful home with amazing staff. Rosario is a true gem, and she will go out of her way to make you stay wonderful. The villa is a 15-20 minute downhill walk to the center of town, and taxis are easy to cheap to avoid the walk up hill back home. Pool heated up to about 97 degrees, which was a delightful treat. Fireplaces throughout the property make for a lovely way to spend an evening. For a large group, this villa is an amazing value.

Our group of 12 was very comfortable and the house and pool and many sitting/gathering areas indoors and out were wonderful. So glad we availed ourselves of the cooking and service offered by Rosario. Rosario and her sister made several great breakfasts, with a few options, a dinner and also delicious appetizers a couple afternoons as well. Very accommodating. Arriving first afternoon to bottomless guacamole and tacos and fresh made margaritas by the pool was a real treat (we requested) after a long day of travel. We found best option is to pay Rosario directly to cover expenses for ad hoc groceries after arrival vs paying the management company (no added fees). Everything about our stay was pretty much a 10 out of 10 rating. Our rooms were serviced each day and tidied up and beds made which was nice. Easy enough walk to town takes 12-15 minutes to get to central area. Most of us also walked back up most of the time abd yes it is a bit of a climb. taxis are easy to grab.

our group had an amazing stay. we had several meals prepared by Rosario and crew and had such a lively time in the pool.

Our group fell in love with this home and the staff. The cook and house manager, Rosario, is one of the kindest and thoughtful people I've met in a long time. She took pleasure in shopping and cooking, and we helped each other learn new words in our respective languages. The food was amazing. The home is so beautiful, warm and welcoming. It is up a steep hill (like much of the city) and it has a wonderful view. The Centro is very close walking or by taxi, and there are also a supermarket and gas stations, etc. very close out of town the other direction. I really can't recommend this rental highly enough. My friends and I wanted to stay with Rosario and the home for much longer. Thank you for everything!!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Villa. It was described well and the walk to town was lovely. Rosario was wonderful and made us one large family dinner and breakfast that were very delicious. Only issues: - “continental breakfast” is a stretch as the coffee is black (when the coffee maker was working) and the rolls were the driest in town (surprising in a town with many delicious bakeries) … I would also expect to enjoy some fruit and perhaps yogurt and real juice (not mango concentrate) when breakfast is advertised - the beds are (all) hard + the pillows are thin down, so be prepared for a rough night sleep after a long day of walking - working with management was slightly taxing and we got our airport shuttles confirmed with hours to spare, slightly stressful, but in the end ok Overall, we would stay again!

From the moment we walked through the gates of Casa Mariposa, we all (a big group of family and friends) were in a state of rapturous delight. The charm of this home was overflowing with every small detail from the tiles to the colors to the gardens., views of the City and charming sitting areas throughout the large property. We were welcomed by Rosario who was so warm and genuine and proud of this lovely house. Each room was private with its own bathroom and shower. The temperature of the wonderful pool which is the center of the backyard courtyard was perfect, the food was amazing. For my 60th birthday, Rosario and her husband prepared an amazing dinner for the party which I highly recommend. I would love to come and stay every year.

Excellent stay! Comfortable home for a family or group, enjoyed the pool and outdoor space. The kitchen is ample with an industrial type stove, and lots of cookware and dishes to use. We grilled poolside and really enjoyed it. The hot water went out in part of the house but it was being fixed the next day. The bedrooms were pretty, linens and towels were included. It’s was nice that each bedroom had its own corresponding bathroom. The house is about a 15 min walk down the hill to the center, and you get a workout walking back up. Rosario made us feel welcome and was very attentive. Our family would definitely return to this spacious home. Also, gorgeous plants everywhere!

We are a family of nine and had a wonderful time at Villa Mariposa. We have taken several really nice vacations through AB&B, but the Villa was far and away my favorite. Beautiful patio gardens, bedrooms appointed with Mexican art and antique furniture, not to mention comfortable beds. Breakfast was prepared every morning by the incomparable Rosario. She also cooked a couple of delicious dinners for us. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood, a fifteen minute walk downhill to el centro. The beautiful, bustling city of San Miguel was at our fingertips.

All of the reviews for Villa Mariposa and Rosario are completely true! The villa is such a special house, filled with love and attention in every corner and nook. Our group of 7 absolutely loved being there and Rosario made the time even more special. Her heart for what she does comes through in everything - from special made foods to adapt to allergies, her suggestions of activities, even going out to get all of the particulars to make my daughter sweet tea! The only tip I might add is to download the WhatsApp so that you can text taxis to come fetch you at the Villa. That is very effective and does not rely on much spanish language!

We had an amazing stay. We had two small children and our extended family with us, and it could not have been more relaxing. The management company helped arrange transport from the airport and even helped us change things when our flights were delayed. We had an absolutely wonderful stay, the property is gorgeous- better than the pictures. It’s spacious, the grounds are beautiful. The rooms are very comfortable and we enjoyed the (heated!) pool everyday. Rosario and her sister are just wonderful- they made breakfast for us, dinner on occasion, and one particular birthday dinner for my mom which was just amazing. They put a lot of care into making sure you’re comfortable, and it feels more like staying in a private boutique hotel than an airbnb. The property is a 15-20 min walk from town, most days we all walked down and then got a taxi back up. It’s also a similar walk to the beautiful botanical gardens. I would stay here again without hesitation, it’s been one of my most favorite trips.

This house is AMAZING! Stay here! We had an incredible vacation and really enjoyed and appreciated our time at this house. It was SO much more breathtaking in person --the photos don't do it justice with what to expect! We had a big group, and everyone had their own room, bathroom, space, private patios.... It almost felt like each person/couple had their own wing of the house!! Rosario met us at the house on our arrival. She was so kind to come late at night for us (she's the best). She had got us groceries that were waiting for us too. The pool/backyard is GORGEOUS. I was lucky to have gotten the room/bathroom that had a door that opened up right to the pool's waterline, so I could just step in and feel LUXURY. There's deck chairs and shade, you're surrounded by lush plants and fruit trees -banana plants, pomegranate tree, birds of paradise... it felt secluded and quiet, and was such a relaxing place for us. Rosario let us know that we could request massages etc. there at the house, and she helped us by scheduling taxis for us for our plans. She automatically cleans the house each day, so if you would rather not have her come for more privacy just let her know. She can also cook for you if you ask! (Chilaquiles are her breakfast specialty!) Rosario is just a gem! Thank you Nancy for sharing your home with us. Seriously, stay here!!! It is so beyond worth it!!! Tip --just make sure to connect far in advance with the airbnb management point person to set everything up before you come, and just clarify how/when they prefer you to pay for groceries/meals etc. so you can come prepared.

Nancy’s Villa is a colonial masterpiece, a sprawling multi-level home that feels real and warm. My 9 member family of varied needs and experiences all fell in love with the place. The daily strolls down the cobblestones to the Centro were an enjoyable group activity, but the older ones chose taxis back up the hill. Relaxing breakfasts prepared lovingly by Rosario were the perfect time to plan the day. We would gladly visit again, hopefully at a time when San Miguel de Allende is less bursting at the seems, which we found during Christmas week. Many good memories were made for us.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Villa! Rosario and her mom were the highlight of our trip!! they took such good care of us, preparing daily breakfast, delicious dinners upon request (even last minute), cleaning rooms daily, laundry, and even nursing us back to health when a 24 hr. stomach bug took many of us down. The rooms and beds are very comfortable. The warm pool is delightful to relax by during the day. The views are amazing and the walk to and from the center was easy and enjoyable as we took in the beautiful details of this colonial town. A taxi ride is also an easy option. Our transportation to and from the airport was arranged and excellent. We can not wait to return and will definitely stay here next time!! We highly recommend the Villa for your group!

Villa Mariposa is a wonderful oasis and perfect for a large group. We truly enjoyed our stay and could not have imagined better accommodations. Rosario took care of all of our needs and recommended a few activities we hadn't even considered, which made our visit to San Miguel de Allende magical.

The housekeeper Rosario and her sister were an absolute joy. Now that I am home I miss waking up to breakfast and a smile every morning. The house was clean, beautiful and so absolutely MEXICO! While a bit outside of the "centro" district it was worth it to be sleeping somewhere quiet, clean and safe. Taxi service to town was reasonable and easy. I feel like we definitely made a connection and I'm looking forward to staying again.

Hello The house is super well located, it has everything you need, the staff super nice, the decor, everything was fantastic! I recommended it

The house is very large, ideal for a weekend with the whole family. The rooms are also very spacious. The house has a special and pleasant touch, you can enjoy the pool with hot water and the fireplace at night. The house has no parking and on the street is unsafe, we were opened by a car and stolen. The housekeeper told us that this is not the first time this has happened. Other than that, we had a great time

This is a magical villa decorated in vibrant Mexican colors, which adds a richness and authenticity to the home. The cook, Rosario, made the trip magical by preparing delicious Mexican food for us with much love and care. (There is an additional charge for meals.) There are many places to sit outdoors so your group can enjoy private time or break into smaller groups to chat. The bougainvilleas were lovely, as was the garden, and there is a sweeping view. The pool was warm and welcoming, and it was enjoyable to sit in the sun by the pool. This villa is especially ideal for couples, as each bedroom has a private bathroom, and most of the bedrooms have a queen bed. It is perched high up a cobblestone street, so we only walked to town once. Usually we took an Uber, which is easy and convenient. Fantastic shopping in town! Check out the rooftop restaurants! FYI, the wifi worked well in the house, but did not work in the master bedroom. Our tour of the nearby ruins / pyramid was another highlight. I flew into Leon, and that was easy, then took an Uber. You can also get a shuttle to the airport. San Miguel de Allende was filled with friendly people and it has a colorful, artistic flair. As we left, everyone said how they wanted to return to this lovely location.

Villa Mariposa is like a private boutique hotel. It has spacious, luxurious rooms; multiple private terraces, balconies, and patios; and comfortable large spaces for group gatherings. My family went there for la Navidad, and we opened our presents around the heated swimming pool. Rosaria is a superb manager/concierge/head chef all in one with a good command of English. The gardens and plants are lush, well-tended and everywhere around the villa. They are full of flowers, even in winter. The location is a good balance of easy access to the town center and privacy, i.e., quiet. Walk down the hill, take a cab back up at the end of the day, (60-70 pesos) unless you are a fit walker. I recommend you fly into Querétaro and take a shuttle arranged by the host company. Don't rent a car unless you are familiar with road travel in Mexico and plan to visit other towns and sites. And plan to spend time just enjoying time in the Villa. It is a worthy destination in its own right.

All I can say is "wow." The pictures do not do this villa justice. It is a perfect place for a group stay. Rosario, who manages the house, is absolutely wonderful. We not only enjoyed her meals but also her company and warm hospitality. The house itself is great - tastefully done, authentic, and comfortable. The 12-person dining table made for wonderful group meals, and the pool area quickly became the common place where we spent most of our time. Would highly recommend this villa. Note that the walk into town is about 15 minutes down steep cobblestone, so it's best done with good walking shoes. You can also get cheap taxis back and forth, but it's much easier to get a taxi from town than it is to get a taxi to town.

Highly recommend! Perfect for a large group looking to lounge and relax in a space loaded with character and charm. This airbnb made our stay in San Miguel feel like the ultimate paradise. It was beautiful, spacious, clean, and had everything we ever needed/ wanted- including a large pool and many patio/ sitting areas. The staff was amazing. From cooking us home-made breakfast every morning to helping us with dinner reservations in town, nothing was gone unnoticed. Thanks to Nancy, Rosario, Mayra and Dulce, we have made countless memories we will never forget. Thank you again! We hope to be back very soon!

Villa mariposa is a wonderful place to stay in San Miguel de Allende. This is a beautiful-wonderful-fantastic spot! The courtyards (yes there are several), the pool, the setting, the flowers, everything is great. The best is Rosario and breakfast every morning. When I booked I was thinking we would not need it, but after experiencing Rosarios cooking, plus not having to clean-up after 9 people, and it brought us all together to start our day. I highly recommend staying here. We certainly will be back!

Beautiful villa. Perfect for large group or extended family. Wonderful hospitality and authentic Mexican cooking (Rosario - cook and housekeeper - was amazing). Peaceful and quiet location. Moderate walk or a short drive to the city.

Thank you Neeraj for your suggestion regarding the heaters. I will talk to our management company to make the changes. I am happy that you had a good time and we do hope to see you again with new heaters. _ Nancy

This is the first time we've traveled with a group and the first time we visited SMA. The Villa Mariposa is not only beautiful, but more than comfortable and spacious for our group of 10 adults. A great view, ample bedrooms and bathrooms, multiple seating/sitting areas in garden settings, a generous dining room (comfortably seats 10 with plenty of elbow room), and a heated pool (favorite spot to compare SMA notes at the end of the day). The staff is excellent and pays attention to the details and is extremely accommodating to the guests. The house is very clean, organized, and well-maintained. We could not have felt more at home here and hope to return soon.

Gorgeous space, plenty of room, and beautiful art fill the spaces. There was always something to look at in this home! We noticed new art details every day. Rosario and the rest of the staff were WONDERFUL to us. She very kindly grocery shopped for us ahead of time, as we were getting into SM later in the evening. We also even sent her husband back to store to get additional items on first night. He was so nice to do that for us! Every day the staff graciously helped us with whatever we needed, cleaned, made us coffee and breakfast. Delicious. We all could not believe the room views and space we had. The pool was also very nicely heated - and we made the MOST of that lovely pool! Loved it, would definitely go back. Uber and cabs are easily obtained to get to town, or back from town (not long rides). We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the wonders and food of SMDA and especially staying in this home.

The villa was incredible and so much more than I expected. There were ten of us (3 generations) and because of the spaciousness and common areas, we all had privacy but also lots of space for getting together. The rooms, bathrooms, gardens and sitting areas are beautiful. We were mostly around the beautiful pool or sitting at the outdoor fireplace next to the pool in the evening. I believe the younger ones may have spent a little time in the TV room and enjoyed the fact that Netflix was available. The host communication was great and the staff was fabulous. All of us are missing the villa, Rosario and her mother. It was so wonderful to see their smiling faces each morning and in the evenings when we ate at the villa. The food was great and the table set to perfection which included candlelight in the evenings. My son and son-in-law even arranged through Rosario to have a Mariachi Band come to the villa on our last night. Everyone said it was the best vacation they had ever had and that means a great deal because all have traveled extensively. Obviously, we all highly recommend the villa! Also, San Miguel de Allende is a wonderful place to visit. Besides just enjoying this beautiful villa and city, we went horseback riding, to the Tuesday market, the everyday market, got massages, and went to the hot springs. Such a fun trip!!!!!

If you want a special place to stay while visiting San Miguel de Allende, please consider booking Villa Mariposa. The house itself is exceptional. Each of the rooms have a private patio or balcony with views of the city. The spacious rooms are beautifully decorated and there are many outdoor locations where you can relax with your morning coffee or with your early evening cocktail. Every morning we were presented with a delicious breakfast, and on several occasions Rosario cooked us unique dinners with several courses beautifully served in artistic surroundings. She also gave us a cooking lesson, and took us to the famous Tuesday market to shop for ingredients. We left our hearts at Villa Mariposa and can't wait for our next visit. We all gave Villa Mariposa and staff a five star rating!

The Villa Mariposa is an incredible place to stay. The house is expansive with lots of room for extended friends and families. The pool was heated for us and a great way to spend some down time with kids in between excursions to town. Rosario - the cook and house-keeper was also friendly and attentive and prepared some incredible meals - if you get a chance - try the chicken pozole - incredible! My son ended up with a cough and she escorted us in to town for a doctor's consult and to the pharmacy for medication, what a god send! The house is about a 15 -20 min walk downhill into town. Its a beautiful walk, but the streets are made of large cobblestones, so unstable for seniors with any special needs. However - the taxis are easy to find/call and super cheap - most rides cost us 60-70 pesos - about $3.00. We are thinking already about when to come back!

The description and photos of this place do not do it justice! We were amazed when we entered the property and even further impressed by the staff, especially Rosario. She made it feel like a 5 star resort with her attention to detail and her excellent meals. The property gave our kids hours of opportunity to play and explore leaving us with peacefully sleeping babies in a quiet place with beautiful evenings to enjoy the view and a fire in the cooler evening. A trip into the center was a 15 min walk for adults or for us with a 2 and 5 year old a $2-3 dollar taxi ride. Any questions or concerns were immediately answered by owners/staff which made us feel comfortable being in a foreign place with young kids. Wish we could have stayed longer and would absolutely consider returning.

The house was perfect for our group of 12. The pictures here don't do it justice. It's very pretty and traditional Mexican decor. The rooms all have privacy so that you don't feel you are right next to each other. Although there are 2 rooms that are attached but still private that was good for family. The house is located up near the top of town so it is a good 20 minute walk down to the Jardin. That said it is quieter in that location and the grocery store is a short taxi ride or 20 minute walk. Rosario, the house manager, and her mother were absolutely the sweetest ladies. They cooked meals for us, arranged taxis and transportation and kept the house clean and tidy. And Rosario speaks good English so that was very helpful. I can't say enough good things about them. The house wouldn't be the same if they were not there.

You should expect a warm friendly comfortable atmosphere. The home is more than you will expect. I would make this choice again and again and again. We used every bit of the house with adults and children and were well cared for

Staying at this hacienda was an absolutely wonderful experience! Nancy and Dulce were great in getting all of our needs met before we even arrived. Once there, we were in Chayo and Ana's more than capable hands. The hacienda itself is lovely and comfortable. The pool warm and inviting. But what really made it above and beyond were Chayo and her mother, Ana. They made us home cooked meals every day that were filled with love and took care of every little thing we needed, no matter how small. It really was a vacation of a lifetime!
