we enjoyed our trip

The place was amazing! It’s a nice property in the middle of the nature. Something to keep in mind: there are bugs everywhere but we don’t mind that at all, the whole place is an amazing experience and it’s such a relaxing place. Very well connected to lots of activities in Puerto Viejo.

Beautiful property with an open plan. We enjoyed the open air living area and bathroom. We loved the howler monkeys in the morning, butterflies and the wildlife that came through. It’s not an easy walk to the beach down the long hilly dirt road so plan on driving. Once down the road you are right on playa cocles.

This is our third stay here in three years and it is something we always look forward to. We can't wait to come back! The surroundings are incredible, and we love the layout of the house, which works so well for us. We come to Costa Rica for the wildlife, and we certainly get that when we stay here! We wake with the howlers and fall asleep to the sounds of the nocturnal creatures. For people wanting a private place to observe nature, this place will not disappoint: from the variety of birds, the howlers and capuchins, to the geckos that hunt at night. Thank you for being such a kind and responsive host!

There were five of us and we rented the villa including the second building. The location is very nice, surrounded by trees, but still only a few hundred meters from the beach. The bathrooms are open. Since the house is in the middle of nature, it is to be expected that one or the other bug gets lost in the bathroom. But that doesn't bother you in this area. We would come back!

The house is beautiful and clean, its location is great, giving the tranquility of nature yet you can reach downtown Puerto Viejo by car in about 7 min. The fact that there is no AC has not been an issue for us since the weather at night was quite fresh and the ventilators and fans provided was procuring a nice breeze. Some maintenance on the wooden deck and long chairs by the pool would be great to give it a better appearance.

Lovely house. Recommended. In the middle of the jungle and in 2 minutes drive you are on the beach. Good base for the Caribbean coast. In our head the house and pool was slightly larger. We had also briefly missed that there was a second cottage. Mattress laid in main house for our third child. Went fine. Beds moderately from the main house. But place was lovely. Nice open living room. House was lovely and the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Villa Chocolatl's open structure allows you to truly live in connection with the gorgeous surrounding nature. At the same time it feels very safe and secure. Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing time at this beautifully decorated and maintained villa. We wholeheartedly recommend it!

This property was absolutely beautiful! The open views from the home made you feel as if you were right in the trees . Very homey and private with beach access right down the road ! I’d definitely come again

What a fun place to stay! The howler monkeys were our alarm clock every morning, and we saw a toucan, white faced monkeys and multiple agouti’s every day. The place was very clean, however it truly is a glamping experience…if bugs and lizards are not your style, you may not like this place! Please note that the third bedroom is also in a separate villa.

We really liked the Villa. The place is quiet, private and beautiful. You feel in nature. We definitely want to come back.
