Villa Chocolatl is located 800 meters from some of the world’s highest-ranked Caribbean beaches, at the foot of the mountains in the South Caribbean and beside the National Indigenous Reserve. Its distinctive design combines rustic details with modern architecture, offering a comfortable setting from which to appreciate the beauty and biodiversity of the Caribbean jungle.
A typical morning may begin with the calls of howler monkeys and a symphony of birds. Enjoy fresh fruit on the terrace in the morning breeze while toucans, macaws, agoutis, and hummingbirds move through the garden. Other Things to Note
The property does not depend on the public water system. If the town’s water supply is interrupted, the house has its own water source.
Drinking water is purified on-site with an eco-filter, so there is no need to purchase bottled water.

The place was amazing! It’s a nice property in the middle of the nature. Something to keep in mind: there are bugs everywhere but we don’t mind that at all, the whole place is an amazing experience and it’s such a relaxing place. Very well connected to lots of activities in Puerto Viejo.

Beautiful property with an open plan. We enjoyed the open air living area and bathroom. We loved the howler monkeys in the morning, butterflies and the wildlife that came through. It’s not an easy walk to the beach down the long hilly dirt road so plan on driving. Once down the road you are right on playa cocles.

This is our third stay here in three years and it is something we always look forward to. We can't wait to come back! The surroundings are incredible, and we love the layout of the house, which works so well for us. We come to Costa Rica for the wildlife, and we certainly get that when we stay here! We wake with the howlers and fall asleep to the sounds of the nocturnal creatures. For people wanting a private place to observe nature, this place will not disappoint: from the variety of birds, the howlers and capuchins, to the geckos that hunt at night. Thank you for being such a kind and responsive host!

Wir waren zu fünft und haben die Villa inklusive dem zweiten Gebäude gemietet. Die Lage ist sehr schön, inmitten von Bäumen, aber trotzdem nur ein paar hundert Meter vom Strand entfernt. Die Badezimmer sind offen. Da das Haus mitten in der Natur steht, ist damit zu rechnen, dass sich der eine oder andere Käfer in das Badezimmer verirrt. Das stört aber nicht in dieser Umgebung. Wir würden wiederkommen!

The house is beautiful and clean, its location is great, giving the tranquility of nature yet you can reach downtown Puerto Viejo by car in about 7 min. The fact that there is no AC has not been an issue for us since the weather at night was quite fresh and the ventilators and fans provided was procuring a nice breeze. Some maintenance on the wooden deck and long chairs by the pool would be great to give it a better appearance.

Heerlijk huis. Aanrader. Midden in de jungle en in 2 minuten rijden ben je op het strand. Goede uitvalsbasis voor de Caribische kust. In ons hoofd was het huis en zwembad iets groter. We hadden ook even gemist dat er een tweede huisje was. Matras in hoofdhuis gelegd voor ons derde kind. Ging prima. Bedden matig van het hoofdhuis. Maar plek was heerlijk. Lekker open woonkamer. Huis was heerlijk en de eigenaar was uiterst vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Aanrader.

Villa Chocolatl's open structure allows you to truly live in connection with the gorgeous surrounding nature. At the same time it feels very safe and secure. Our family of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing time at this beautifully decorated and maintained villa. We wholeheartedly recommend it!

The location was beautiful, immersed in the jungle which was great. Lots of room to explore and lounge, the design was pretty, and it was close enough to the main beaches and amenities. The host was very responsive. Pros: Very Private and tucked in 3 Open air bathrooms (which we loved) Lots of beautiful animals (guatusas, monkeys, butterflies, birds) and nature Good parking Nice breeze Internet good on the main house Cons: Doors in the house were tough to open There was half a gate at the entry, so you couldn’t really close the property. Security wise we felt a bit exposed at night with that and the fact that the doors could be kicked open very easily because of the material. No internet in the bungalow

The design is beautiful along with the grounds and we got to see many howler monkeys up close which was one of the coolest things we have ever seen. However, you must be ok with sleeping in a hot room and having bugs everywhere.
