Jamie and Abel are very attentive people and were always available. It's a steep climb up to the house, but it's completely worth it. The house has a beautiful view and it's very quiet.

We had an extremely relaxing weekend. Jamie's house is super comfortable and offers everything you need for a relaxing, quiet stay, like being at home but away from everyday life. We would definitely choose Casa Quetzal again for a weekend getaway from the city 😮💨

We had a great stay! Abel and Jamie were super communicative and helpful. They helped us with transport and a golf cart rental before we got there, as well as super responsive to any questions we had throughout our stay. The views are incredible! Highlight of our stay

Excellent stay, the house matches the photos, it is fully equipped in every way, the views are amazing, and everything is private for the guests. I recommend golf carts; it's more accessible and fun. We enjoyed our vacation at Casa Quetzal.

If you want beautiful views from every window and every room, this is the pace for you! We loved waking up to hear bird songs and watching the birds on the roof after sunrise. The sunset from any level is simply breathtaking, set your clock and make watching the sunset part of your daily agenda. The road up is steep and technical, but our golf cart made it up! We recommend making a little trek through the jungle to the secluded beach. Thank you for the beautiful home!

There is no doubt that Jamie's place has a spectacular view, especially from the roof deck! The house was clean and well laid out. We enjoyed our stay until our last night at the house when we discovered that all of our cash had been stolen from the safe in the Primary bedroom. The website and the guest book state that you should lock the house when not there, which we did diligently. We are unsure if someone had a key to the safe or we were robbed while we were home at the house. We kept the doors open as instructed in the guest manual. Also, the guest manual states that there are cameras and there are none as they had been removed prior to our stay. Jamie, the owner, stated that he always locks the house up when he is home. Jamie confirmed that we were to be told this during check in. We were not. Want you all to be aware of the contradictions and be safe. Keep the doors closed and locked at all times even when home, which is difficult with no AC in the living room and kitchen.
Host Response
I have been owner of Quetzal for about seven years and my manager has been with the house for about a decade so we have a record of trust and accountability. We have never experienced an incident like this. We are doing everything we can to figure out what happened and to prevent it from happening again A few things to address from the review: Cameras are not allowed by Airbnb rules in living space and the outdoor hallway leading to the bedrooms is considered living space so there is no camera there. Our practice is to encourage guests to always use the safes and to lock the doors when not in use. This is why we do not allow self checkin. We want to make sure guests understand the house including how to operate safes and doors. We will revisit the checkin protocols and look for inconsistencies in language and simplify our procedures. I would encourage all guests, anywhere, to be vigilant which includes using and locking a provided safe and locking up when spaces are not in use.

Absolutely gorgeous house and views of the ocean. Everything was really clean and comfortable. A well stocked kitchen. Seemed like a pretty safe neighborhood, mostly very quiet compared to the party scene in town. The only drawback really is the crazy steep hill and road. You will need golf carts to get up or down. Luckily the hatchback car we had rented was able to do it, but we did bottom out a few times. You need a driver that is well experienced with steep curvy roads.

Our stay at Quetzal was AMAZING! You could not ask for a better view from every window. We thoroughly enjoyed the grounds, the pool and the rooftop patio. The hosts were so helpful and friendly and really took top notch care of us. Already planning our return to Sayulita!

This home is gorgeous and the view is incredible. The property manager was extremely helpful. The road up to the house is quite steep and not great for a car without 4wd, but Abel helped us get a golf cart, which ended up being a much easier way to get around.

Excellent place to spend time with family, the only complicated thing is the road to get to and from the accommodation, since not just any car can go up, other than that, it's really worth it, especially the views and the sunset looks amazing!

The house is large and well distributed, it has everything you need, the area is very quiet, only the hill is very steep, we took a van and it could not go up but we managed to park it below and we went up walking, once you are up the view is worth everything, it is incredible!! ... in general we loved the house and the excellent attention of the host, we will definitely return and recommend it!!

Stunning air bnb with plenty of space and the most gorgeous views of the ocean! Only concern is the hill it’s located on, which is extremely steep and rocky. When you first arrive, I recommend being dropped off at the bottom of the hill and having the golf cart rental (which you will definitely need) delivered to you there and driving up that way, as our sprinter van could not make it up the hills.
Host Response
Glad you loved Quetzal Emma but how to separate the house from Nanzal Hill? I"m not sure how to be more transparent about the location of the house. It is a steep hill, this information is covered in my description of the house. Its location provides one of the best views in Sayulita. We don't get one without the other. For future guests I will say again, if small and steep one-lane roads are not your bag maybe consider renting a golf cart or walking or staying down by the sea. When I rent a car--usually a small sedan--I make it to the front door just fine. Golf carts pull the hill just fine and of course my favorite pass-time, walking always works. Please ask me anything about the hill if you have doubts or concerns.

Definitely recommend. Loved being high up on the hill and the views are amazing. The place is exactly as advertised, was very comfortable, and their communication was great. It's not for everyone - as all of the other comments mention, it's up an extremely steep road (our golf cart guy said it's the steepest in town), and the road is in pretty rough condition. We actually really enjoyed the ride up/down, but it would be tough for older people or those with any mobility issues.

This was our second time in this house. We love the ocean views and not having loud or noisy people right next door to us. However, the roads have deteriorated much more than our previous visit six years ago. In order to get into town, you must rent a golf cart and navigate steep hills and basically rocks/boulders. There were times when we thought the entire golf cart was going to topple over. My older body (55+) couldn’t hack the roads and caused me so much pain. Jaime and Abel, our host, are wonderful but I don’t think I can stay in homes that far up the hill again.
Host Response
Thank you Sharalyn for the review and for returning to Quetzal. The road does go through some challenging periods but for me, the view and mountain and the sea are worth it. I am a walker though and this is as much a part of my time at Quetzal as anything else.

Unbelievable getaway in Sayulita! Quiet, and up on the hill - best view in town and a great place to relax and take in the ocean breeze. Short (but steep!) walk down to the beach. Abel will recommend a golf cart rental to cut down on the walking time if desired. We hired a private chef for one evening who came up to our house and prepared a meal for all seven of us and included the fresh bonita and mackerel we caught on our fishing trip earlier that day. The rooms were comfortable and the mini-splits are great. Altogether an unforgettable experience, and such a great casa to enjoy Sayulita from.
Host Response
Thank you Madalyn for the wonderful review. So happy to know you enjoyed the visit and the house. I agree, one of the best views in town. Please let us know if you wish to return. Discounts for returning guests.

From the moment the doors opened to the house, we all gasped at the views. It was breathtaking from every floor. The rooftop was the chef's kiss on looking over the ocean. There was plenty of room for the five of us to enjoy. Yes, we did have the golf carts as suggested, but we also did the walk down and back to town, which though challenging, was fun. The days we were there to celebrate my daughter's wedding went by too quickly. I highly suggest Jamie's house, as for us, was close to town, and to the villa where the wedding was held. We will be back to Sayulita!
Host Response
Thanks Lynne for the kind review and it always makes me happy when guests embrace the hill. I love the walk to town and back, one of my best meditations. And congratulations on the wedding.

This was an absolutely stunning and breath taking house, with incredible views from every single direction. My friends and I loved our stay, and our hosts were responsive and kind! I would recommend future guests to purchase a gas powered side by side because our golf carts barely made it up, and the road is too narrow for a vehicle!
Host Response
Thanks for the wonderful review Rachel, so happy you enjoyed Quetzal. One observation about the road; though steep and narrow, we and others do use our cars to get up and over the hill. The road is also used by trucks for deliveries.

Great location on the hill. Host should provide binoculars, so you can see the humpback whales from the patio. Lighting throughout the entire house needs to be addressed by adding lamps. Host property manager was very responsive and helpful whenever we needed something. Pool does not get hardly any sun in the winter, which was a little disapointing. Overall we had a great visit.
Host Response
Thanks Monesa for the review and pleased to hear your overall stay went well. A quick note here for future guests. Ants can be a problem in the tropics, we try and tend them without pesticides. I was at the house only two weeks ago for a week and there were no ants. Our staff will take your advise and be more vigilant with any ants. About the lights, we have an electrician scheduled for two repairs in the wiring. And finally, the pool. This time of year there is less sun on the pool but this increases as the weeks pass and there is always the roof for those who need full sun.

If you’re looking for an authentic Mexican feel with breathtaking views then this property is an excellent choice. Casa Quetzal is very comfortable for 7 with a lot of space . Abel was very responsive cohost. Always quick to reply and very helpful with transportation to/from airport and golf cart rental. We initially didn’t think we needed a golf cart since we like to walk but I highly recommend renting . If you like to birdwatch then this property gives you an advantage. You can look down and hear and see them in the trees. Bring binoculars we had wished on many occasions we had. Will definitely return.
Host Response
Thanks Rosanne, I’m headed down Wednesday and attend to the shower nozzles and you have reminded me to take my birding books.

What an incredible house that we feel so grateful to have spent a week calling our Sayulita home! Comfortable for us and our three teen boys. Love the pool to end most of our day adventures. Spent many sunsets from the pool, which was spectacular! Love being greeted every morning by all of the jungle waking up around us! So many birds and butterflies. Beds were comfortable. loved the semi outdoor showers that were private as well as the whole house being “open air style“ Definitely rent a golf cart. It takes a day to get comfortable driving up and down the hill but once you get the hang of it, it’s really not that big of a deal. Hope to have the chance to come back here again someday

The views from any spot in this home are absolutely breathtaking! We had three couples in our group and we all slept very cool and comfortably. The sheets and towels were clean, and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The kitchen was small but we did 0 cooking because the food scene in Sayulita was the best I’ve seen. Highly recommend trying the small outdoor eatery at the bottom of the hill. I will say DO NOT have the doors/windows open at night with the lights on because the bugs are insanely creepy. They are attracted to the light and this house is in the Mexican Jungle, so trust our advice. Great stay for a large group. The salt water pool is super fun and the roof top is perfect for sunset viewing. Highly recommend this spot.

Really lovely house in great location with wonderful views and a fantastic pool. Fab bedrooms with great aircon and fans if prefer. Buggy is expensive but essential when it’s hot as road is steep. If not hot then it’s doable without! Probs 20 min walk. We took an Uber from airport which was about £30, the Able met us at buggy hire shop to escort us up the hill which was helpful as not easy to find. Great cooking facilities inc bbq in the lovely roof terrace. Food shopping limited in town so we took Uber to larger supermarket. There might be a bigger one on the outskirts which we missed. Worth checking! Kitchen Has everything you need, including bottled water. Keep doors closed in the eve to keep bugs out. Fab house. Recommend. Would stay again!

Beautiful stay at Casa Quetzal! The house is so charming and authentic. The views from the terrace were unmatched. I suggest renting a golf cart during your stay as the walk back up the hill can be tiring. It's a short 5min golf cart ride or 10min walk to downtown. Would highly recommend & visit again!

Stunning views, salt water pool, spacious, well equipped kitchenette and plenty of terrace space for a big group to enjoy. Great communication with the owner and house manager who accommodated requests fast e.g. a crib for a friends child. Situated on top of the hill, the climb up can be strenuous (golf cart or car recommended), not all Taxis will take you to the front door. The key situation could be a little more efficient. Must lock every door, this can be a little inconvenient with a big group but is good for the safety of everyone.

Peaceful, beautiful spot. Located in the vicinity of town. Had a lovely time and enjoyed the privacy and unobstructed views that come with being on top. Though the incline can be intimidating in a golf cart at first. Thanks for a great stay.

What a magical home! From the view to the pool to the rooftop, this house was spectacular. Sure the walk up the hill is sweat inducing and we had many lizard and buggy friends visit us, but that’s the jungle baby. Abel, the house manager was beyond responsive, arranged transport to and from the airport, golf cart rental and an excursion day. The house was one of the first to be built on the hill so it has its quirks: One of the showers wasn’t working properly (calcium deposits on the shower head caused power washer level pressure), there was a constantly leaky toilet and at one point we ran out of running water (but Abel made sure we had plenty of drinking water and ensured the problem was remedied immediately), but honestly that is what you sign up for in a town like Sayulita that is experiencing skyrocket growth without the proper infrastructure. Lastly, it would have been nice to have prior notice when grounds keepers popped by to maintain the beautiful plants and property.

This was an amazing stay. This home is absolutely stunning, the views are amazing and it is close to beaches and the downtown area while also staying private. Jamie and Abel were very responsive and helpful. Abel was able to suggest transportation from the PVR airport and will help arrange it if needed. He also helped us get a golf cart when we arrived. Super clean and well-kept. I can't say enough good things. 5 out of 5 on all points. Thanks both!

We had a beautiful relaxing time at this wonderful Airbnb. The hill that people Mention is quite rowdy but the golf cart made it much easier. Also beware that there is a sewage spill happening in sayulita and we ended up getting really sick, all of us, so be sure to see if it has passed as most of our trip was spent sick. But it was nice to have lots of space to relax!! Would stay again!

We had a great time at Casa Quetzal. The view is breathtaking and never gets old. We loved utilizing the space during the week, especially watching the sunsets from the rooftop and using the well equipped kitchen to make daily breakfast and dinner. The local host who manages the airbnb was communicative, met us right on time, helped us set up a golf cart rental, and multiple early am taxis back to the airport. Host also has towels and a cooler that you are able to use. While the house is on the top of a very steep hill, this didn’t bother us because it was noted by the host in the listing/we enjoyed the adventure of renting a golf cart. The only small piece of feedback I have is that there should be more mention of no hot water in the listing. While Sayulita is hot and humid, it gets fairly chilly in the morning and evenings and the shower situation was pretty uncomfortable. We only had lukewarm water for a couple minutes one day, the rest of the time the water was very cold.
Host Response
Hey Patrick, Thanks for the hit water news. This should not have happened. Did you mention to Abel?

A beautiful spot up above a thriving beach town. Get the golf cart! It is a great cardio walk once or twice a day but having the cart is a must for hauling beach chairs, groceries, etc. Shower in the afternoon…the hot water is most reliable then. Enjoy the incredible views and a refreshing plunge in the pool after walking up the hill! Abel was very prompt at responding to messages and suggesting excursions (Chika Loca provided amazing service on our boat tour). Highly recommend if you are looking for beach and restaurant energy in the day but peace at night!

This is a great place for a family or friend vacation. The views from the rooftop and from living room are outstanding. A dinner on the rooftop is a slice of heaven. The local host, Abel, is great. Responsive, always available, great recommendations, basically anything you need he will assist. All the positives from others in the reviews are true- it is a great home. Would suggest you rent a golf cart for your stay as the walk up the hill is serious. But the view is worth it!! Would rent again and encourage others to also as you will not be disappointed!!

Jamie’s house was perfect for our family of 5. We had room to spare. The pool was lovely and well used. We loved the separate spaces. Everyone could do their own things when they wanted. We did yoga on the roof top terrace and the view was unforgettable. The golf cart was a must. We had it arranged with our host ahead of time which was very convenient. I believe one could have found a less expensive rental if you were able to do it many months in advance. They are a hot commodity in Sayulita. Our driver was right there at the airport when we arrived and the transfer was smooth. Sayulita is a beautiful town. If you are a foodie who loves the beach it is your dream destination. We enjoyed some of the best coffee and entrees we have had on vacation. Everything was so well done. We would definitely recommend this destination and this rental!

What a view!! Abel was very responsive. He booked massages for us at the house, which was lovely poolside (do this early in the morning before it's too hot). The pool was great. We were up the steep hill, but could still hear the ocean. Lots of birds and just peaceful and wonderful. Abel added a golf cart rental, which was an absolute must and very fun to drive around. We loved our stay here!

We had a great stay at Casa Quetzal. Beautiful home as seen in the photos and the views are even better in person as you may imagine. Abel, the house manager was proactively in contact with us and was great to speak with and always willing to lend a hand with anything needed. Large jugs of filtered water are provided; it was great avoiding constantly purchase filtered water in town. Beds were very comfortable and having AC in the bedrooms was incredibly beneficial in getting a good nights rest during late-June evening temps. I might suggest having more towels on site for shower vs pool but all in all this was really not a big deal for us. As seen in the property description & previous reviews, the hill is not for the faint of heart; this coming from a flatlander, however. Initially we thought we'd walk the hill, but ended up renting a golf cart (we named it Mountain Goat), which saved our butts (and our calf muscles). All had a blast and we'd love to stay at Casa Quetzal again!

When I think of Jamie’s house all I can say is “wow!” The views cannot be beat, decor was stunning, and the house manager Abel was fabulous. Abel was able to organize not only transportation to the airport, but also our golf cart rental for the time. He was fully available for any questions that we had and even made changes to our reservation seemlessly. The house itself came fully equipped with towels, sheets, grill and purified water. I’d highly reccomend renting a golf cart because even though it’s not a far distance to town/ the beach, the hills are very steep. Once you drive the cart down the hill twice, you’ll be totally comfortable. I will absolutely stay in this home again and cannot wait to return to Sayulita.

This place is very special! We came to Jamie’s place with two young kids and my parents. Before booking Jamie was very clear, detailed, and helpful- in the description, as well as messages. The view from every vantage point was beautiful- by the pool, in the main house, and, our favorite- the roof. We walked into town most days, sometimes again to grab dinner- but always brought it back to the roof to eat as the sun set. With a group ranging 4 to 67, we all found the walk up the hill doable- the pool feels amazing when you get to the top! And you would never have the peaceful serenity and views if you didn’t have to climb a little hill to get there. It’s hard to imagine enjoying Sayulita from any other place now that we stayed at Jamie’s.

Thanks Andrew and Carissa. We appreciate this feedback so much. We would love to have you back.

Absolutely stunning home above the town of Sayulita — very private and felt like a true get away, we often skipped the beach just so we could spend more time by the pool. The hill as mentioned is steep but Abel helped us to rent golf carts and we quickly got used to it. Would love to stay again!

The house is lovely with spectacular views. However, we had some disappointments: 1) Absolutely no hot water for showers the entire week. I imagine this isn’t a big deal in Summer but for March it was biting cold. 2) Abel was friendly and responsive. He even hustled to find a high chair for us. Unfortunately it was full of mildew, so we couldn’t use it. We were asked to pay for it regardless. 3) I know construction is a thing, I come to expect noise when visiting. Unfortunately, they were carving out the mountain side on the property next store and ran a jackhammer bulldozer 9-5pm 4 of our days. It was impossible to be at the house, you couldn’t even hear another speak let alone relax or enjoy the amenities. 4) The steepness of the hill alone is fine. Matched with the condition of the road made for a treacherous combo with the golf cart ordered for us. It was 3 person max and struggled to make it up- we had some scary unsafe moments. Electric carts should not be an option.

This is a beautiful location and many great property features. Views are amazing and many spaces to relax. Construction noise was a problem when we were there in late February and we would have used the pool more if it were heated. Abel was extremely helpful with all kinds of arrangements. And while the hill is real it wasn’t as bad as we expected but we were happy to have a golf cart.
Host Response
Thanks Lance and happy to hear from Abel that your stay was a good one. I saw images of the left over party piñatas, looks like fun. I will acknowledge here, as in the property description that the pool is not heated. It never has been and there are no current plans to do so. We also point out in the property description that Sayulita is evolving into a bustling little town and from time to time there is construction noise. I always feel a little bummed when folks write a review or give a rating based on information we have disclosed in the property and home description. We try and do our very best to disclose all the information we have about the house and it remains our hope that each guest have the best experience possible.

It is everything promised, and more! Casa Quetzal is one-in-a-million level special. If it seems too good to be true..... it's actually better, in this case. Comfort, charm, a real place to "live" in, thoughtful touches, and endless views..... live outside in the pool, and on the roof! Two notes: the construction noise and dust are real. Adjust your expectations accordingly. The hot water for showering is irregular, at best. There is not a lack, it's just the timing and flow. Be patient, and you'll catch on. Abel and his family are phenomenal with communication and care. Other notes: The lizards are delightful and come in the main level at night. One likes to hang out on the ceiling router. We called it WiFi. I do suggest a car, as small as is possible.... the hill is wild, and an open golf-cart will let you choke on everyone's dust. Keep your bedroom screens CLOSED at all times. The mosquitoes are always ready to feast. We had an amazing honeymoon, and are so glad we stayed here.

As described! Beautiful views, well appointed, perfect place to celebrate my birthday with friends I don't get to see often! The stairs and hills are definitely steep but we found them to be well worth it, just be careful! Abel was incredibly helpful while we were in town and we were so grateful to have his help coordinating shuttle, golf carts and making recommendations! Would absolutely stay at Quetzal again.

Getting up and down the hill in a rental car would be hair-raising. Let Jamie or Abel arrange golf cart rental instead…$75 USD per day. Abel and his team are wonderful.

Great time at Casa Quetzal! The reviews about the hill were accurate and we were rewarded with an unbelievable view of the sunsets as a result. The pool was salt water (loved!) and the bedrooms were on a separate floor from the kitchen/living room which made for a great separation of sleep/fun. Thanks for the great stay!

Fantastic home with all the amenities, a super responsive host and local manager and incredible views from every room. Private bedrooms below the main living area. We made good use of both the pool and rooftop. We did walk up and down the very steep hill to town on several occasions but also appreciated having a golf cart for the trip. Close to town and the beach. Highly recommend and we’d definitely come back!

this is a house to enjoy for sure. no luxury no great beds beddi g etc but if you have a large group this is a fair value. rent an off road because golf carts do not climb all the way
Host Response
Thanks Gonzalo. About the beds and bedding. Two of the three California King mattresses are under three years old. The single mattress is new. They are the best quality that come from PV. The bedspreads, handmade in San Sebastian and Oaxaca, are new from December 2022. The sheets are new and were put into use after my visit just days ago. The mattress protectors are also new, for all beds. Sheets and mattress protectors are constantly updated as the tropical climate demands our attention in these areas. There are golf carts that make it up the hill. I was just there in November and December--days ago-- and two friends rented carts that easily made the hill. Abel can point guests to the rental company for these carts.

Beautiful house with an amazing view. The hill is no joke though, the grade is steeper than any set of stairs that would be legal in the US. Even for our healthy, active group it was an undertaking to walk up and down a few times a day. Large taxis couldn’t drive all the way up, neither could most golf carts. Most US drivers probably wouldn’t even be comfortable driving up or down the last curve, even walking down it takes all your focus to avoid slipping. Also there are lots of stairs and sketchy railings in the house, super not kid or elder friendly. However, if you’re down for an adventure, the house, rooftop and pool are all amazing! The host was very attentive and helpful too, thanks again Abel!

We acknowledge in the home and neighborhood descriptions that the hill to Quetzal is a challenge. Here is one copy and paste description from our neighborhood section: We love the hill because it gives Quetzal a unique view and near constant breeze but if you don't enjoy small and steep roads, Quetzal may not be for you.

Our stay was wonderful! The airbnb itself was absolutely beautiful and we had a wonderful stay! The kitchen was well stocked and the rooms all had AC, and there plenty of space for our large group. We very much enjoyed the pool and the rooftop. The only hiccup we experienced was someone from our party had a couple hundred dollars taken. The instructions in the booklet clearly stated to put all money and valuables in the safe, so it was our error, but good to be cautious of for future stays. Other than that, our stay was great! I highly recommend renting a golf cart as the house is at the top of a steep hill and it made it a fun experience.

Amazing property - the pool was well loved and used daily. Although the hill is a bit of a trek - you can’t get views like this anywhere else - so it’s a trade off for sure and well worth it!! Would highly recommend this property to anyone with older children (not young child safe) or group of adults. The property had everything we needed and more. We decided to opt out of the cart and walk into town and taxi back for $8-16 per ride.

We throughly enjoyed our stay in Sayulita and will be back. Jamie’s! home is beautiful with magical sunsets every night. The pool was a welcome respite from beach days. If you rent a car, try and get a 4 wheel drive as our car couldn’t make it up if it had rained. A golf cart is an absolute must! Our only complaint would be the construction nearby the home which was noisy and caused much traffic via tractors and large trucks. I’m sure over time this will calm down and really not much the owner can do about it.

Abel's house and attention. My respect, I have nothing to say everything beautifully, it has an amazing view, the only detail is the way to get to the house, which is a bit complicated.

We loved our stay at Casa Quetzal. The house is spacious, has everything you need, and we loved having to go outside to reach the bedrooms, which we were super excited to learn had brand new A/C units. We do recommend turning them off if you can stand it so you can enjoy the ocean and night sounds. The pool is a great respite from the heat, and sunset views from the roof are beautiful. Abel was incredibly helpful- he arranged our airport transfers, golf cart rental, and helped us figure out food delivery for our first night since we were so exhausted. Speaking of golf carts- it’s a must if you are visiting during hot months, but going up isn’t exactly safe if you have small kids or older adults riding in the back, so keep that in mind when deciding your mode of transport. The road’s incline and bumpiness cannot be overstated, although our teen daughter enjoyed the thrill of the ride as she held on (she described it as a scary ride without the safety guarantees) and after the first couple times, we all got the hang of it. There’s a beach right at the bottom of the road, and ice cream/popsicles for an evening cool-off. Plus a few restaurants, all before you get into town. This may become an annual tradition for our family. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Jamie’s home was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. Amazing views, comfy beds, super fun pool and roof deck! We had everything we needed for our group of 5 adults. For the price this house is a great value. Abel was an amazing host, super accommodating and was quick to message me back if we needed anything! He also helped me set up a golf cart to be delivered to the house. We most definitely needed the golf cart!! The hill is steep (not for the faint of heart)!!! If you have older guests or very young kids this may not be the house for you! I would recommend this house for an adventurous group of friends! It was a blast. 😁

The stay at the house was very good. Clean and harmonious spaces, a very nice view from the house, and good living areas. Everything was excellent in the rooms. There is no AC, but the fans are more than enough. It has everything you need for cooking. It is very well equipped. The only comment would be the location of the house in terms of distance. It's not very far from downtown, but the way to get there is a bit complicated because of the hills you have to walk up. If you consider that there is taxi service that can pick you up and take you back, everything is excellent. For walking, it's something to think about. Very good stay and excellent service from the host, very good communication, excellent service ☺️

Jamie’s place is amazing. Te views are unbelievable. If you are felling a little lazy it is totally worth it to rent a golf cart to go up and down the hill. Looking forward to come back!

The photos do not do this place justice. The house is so beautiful. Abel met us when we arrived to town and led us up the hill to the house. We had a hard time the first evening finding our way back, but after that we had no problem at all. There were six of us staying at the house and we all had enough room to spread out to have alone time if we needed it. The views were absolutely unreal and the location was perfect. We watched the sunset from the rooftop nearly every night. The kitchen had everything you could want/need. The common areas were comfortable and spacious. The bedrooms were comfortable and it was so nice to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and wake up to the roosters and Chachalacas. Abel was so quick to respond if we needed anything and was able to set us up with Covid testing prior to departure. The entire stay was incredible! Sayulita is a magical place. We hiked, surfed wandered the streets and ate some of the most delicious food ever. Highly recommend Casa Quetzal!!! We will be back.

The views from Casa Quetzal are out of a movie. Everything about the house was what we were looking for. The pool was enjoyable and refreshing, and the home’s aesthetic is beautiful. One of the more underrated things about this house is being able to constantly hear the sound of waves crashing from the beach below. A few members of our group opted to rent a golf cart, but most of us found the walk up to the house invigorating and not too bad. I would 100% stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Quetzal. It was just my wife and I so we had ample room during our stay. The bedrooms are situated below the living room/kitchen with individual entrances to them. You have to walk outside to get from the kitchen/living room to the bedrooms. But we didn't mind this at all since it gives you a chance to walk outside and soak in that great view on the way to and from your bedroom! The house is basically 4 stories tall. The first floor has a single bedroom, the second floor has 3 additional bedrooms (one standalone with private bathroom and 2 more bedrooms with jack and jill bathroom) in addition to the pool, the third floor is the living room/kitchen, and the fourth floor is the roof. There is also a cozy little hidden garden area in front of the house but we didn't spend any time out there. The bedrooms are simply appointed and the bed we slept in was quite comfy. All bedrooms in addition to the kitchen/living room have great ceiling fans that can move a lot of air and provide good ambient noise at night. We spent most of our time on the third floor (kitchen/living room) and the fourth floor (rooftop). We love the open floorplan and found the kitchen was large enough to move around in without running into each other. It could handle a much larger group than us with no problem. We loved how 2 walls of the living kitchen/living room floor were basically floor-to-ceiling windows that could be opened up. This allowed you to bring the outside in while preparing dinner or watching a movie. The rooftop, as expected, was amazing. There is a hammock, a large table, plenty of seating, and even a charcoal grill which I used a couple of times to cook fish that we bought from the local market. There is also a great spot to lay down yoga mats for morning yoga if that is your thing. The views from the third floor and roof are simply spectacular. Truly some of the best I've ever seen at any beach location. And the house is pointed in the direction of the sunset which makes for truly memorable evenings. Few random notes/considerations: -The kitchen has plenty of plates, dishes, and cookware, but very little in the way of ingredients/spices, etc. If you plan on cooking at the house much, be sure to bring whatever seasonings you like to cook with. We had our driver drop us off at a large grocery store near the airport to pick up the essentials. While Sayulita has markets, I recommend going to a standalone grocery store closer to the city for items upon your arrival -TV had a huge selection of channels to watch. While many would prefer not to watch TV on their beach vacation, if that is something you are like to do, you will have lots to choose from. There is only 1 TV which is located in the living room -Sayulita is dealing with a historical dry season (a local told us that they had not received rain since last October) so I feel a little guilty mentioning this, but the showers are set up to preserve water. What this means (at least from our experience) was that you would get about 20 seconds of piping hot water followed by nonstop cold water. We tried showering in all the bathrooms and the results were the same. So plan to take very brief showers during the dry season! -At night, the insects come out. This is of no fault of the house and simply part of Sayulita. This means you will likely see ants coming in to forage for food in the kitchen and we also saw some lizards on the ceiling. Be sure not to leave any food out in the open at night! -We read review after review about "the hill". And after experiencing it first-hand, it is no joke. Our cab could barely even make it up the hill to drop us off! Having a golf cart is essential. Once you get the hang of driving up and down the hill in the golf cart, it isn't too bad -The bedrooms, living room, and front door all require different keys to access/lock. This wasn't a huge deal for us but it did make me feel like a janitor when we were locking up to go to the beach! -There is a lot of construction going on. The house immediately next to Casa Quetzal is undergoing construction in addition to the house right down the hill. The workers seemed to start at around 8 to 830 in the morning and would go until sunset. Some days they were hardly noticeable but other days the machinery they used was louder -Abel was a huge help. From booking our cabs to having a golf cart delivered to the house to setting up excursions to arranging for a person to come up to the house to administer COVID tests, he was a great help during our trip. Make sure to tip him if he helps you out! -Favorite places we ate in town: Tapas at Barracuda, Mary's, Achara for Thai, Pizza Venezia, and ice cream at Buonissimo -Highly recommend doing a hike/yoga with Diane, sound therapy session with Adrian, hidden beach (beware the water is cold!), and renting a lounger at the beach from Las Sirenas Overall, we had a great time and would highly recommend staying here!

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Quetzal! The views were amazing from the rooftop deck and all accommodations were as expected. Abel was an amazing local host and was very helpful/responsive to all our questions. As noted in many other reviews, the road to the casa is very steep cobblestone road. So be prepared with good shoes (my flip flops were not the best choice) or a golf-cart that can handle the grade.

Beautiful home with great views! The rooftop is fabulous for watching the sunset and birdlife. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking. The price you pay for the incredible views is a rough golf-card ride up the hill, which is a must!

Jamie’s home is nothing short of beautiful. His co-host, Able, was very accommodating with helping us with transportation to and from the airport as well as booking us with a doctor who came to the air bnb and administered our Covid tests before we left. The home is on a pretty big hill and definitely recommend renting a golf cart. It helps tremendously. Taxis do go up but some decline in bigger groups/vehicles. Sayulita is a beautiful beach town with so much to offer. I highly recommend a surf lesson! I can’t wait to visit again.
