Excellent, 1 month ago

It was love at first sight! What a gem we stumbled upon. Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at Swin's. So peaceful and the air was nice and cool. Everything was very comfortable, especially the beds. In the morning, we took a long walk to the spring, with Onyx, the dog, leading the way. The drive up the mountain wasn't so bad in a rented 2 wheel drive SUV. It was really nice to meet Swin and her family and we are grateful for them to provide such a special place for guests to enjoy.

The most comfortable and cleanest place I've stayed at in Costa Rica! Great for 2 people who are not a couple, separate and private bedrooms. There is everything in the kitchen, the sofas are comfortable, the bathroom too, and the terrace is very nice with a view. There is also a magnificent vantage point on the property for admiring the sunsets, and a (flat!!) trail of about 2 hours that leads to Canaan, where there is a delicious cheese shop! Swin is lovely and welcoming, and every detail of the house is well thought out and beautiful. Note that the houses are close to one another, but Swin's family is quiet! Recommended!

La Cima del Mundo is a wonderful place to unwind and enjoy a beautiful part of Costa Rica. Swin and her family are great hosts. When we had problems with our car, they were very helpful and were always there, when we needed something. The accommodation was the most beautiful (of nine so far) in CR, generous space and stylishly furnished. But the best is the location. Above 1,000 meters we enjoyed pleasant temperatures and pure fresh air in a wonderful green environment, fantastic views and silence besides the sound of birds and insects. No wonder that we met many expats at the market of Chimirol and at other sights. Our daughter loved the trampoline. Swin recommended some activities in the region, we otherwise would have missed. We can warmly recommend La Cima del Mundo.

Our stay was far beyond expectation ! The guest Swin and her family were very friendly and gave us a feeling to be home, with all privacy you want during a vacation. We live in Costa Rica and are exploring to relocate. They gave us soooo many tips to help us getting around. The house is beautifully build by the owner himself including all furniture, and decorated super cosy and stylish— a house with heart. Mega clean and the internet was SUPER for the work we do online (meeting with students on zoom), uploading, downloading .. All worked good👌 Super nice beds and towels, fully equipped kitchen, the private garden was super cute too with the barbecue. And very informative book about things to do in the area, games, books … nice lights. Electricity plugs on all places you need one. It’s a stay we will definitely will come back to and that we’ll recommend to all our contacts! And to you reading the reviews ☺️ Perfect for bird spotters and hike lovers !

We loved ending our stay in Costa Rica at Cima del Mundo, in peace and quiet. Swin and his family have created a very special place, where everything has been built by hand and with a love of detail. Swin was extremely kind, she even helped me with a medical problem before we arrived. Lilo, the youngest of the family, is a great guy, so funny and friendly, and he was more than happy to show us the whole estate. If you are comfortable driving a 4x4 on mountain roads, you can take plenty of beautiful walks 20-30 minutes away, before returning to admire the sunset from your terrace. I would 100% recommend!

We had a very nice stay at Swin's as a family of 4. The place is tasteful and exceptional in design. The surroundings are very quiet and natural. We were able to use the play equipment and our son played soccer with the host's son. This made us feel very well taken care of. You should note the challenging approach. As Swin also points out, at least one SUV is required. 20 minutes uphill over hill and dale. Fortunately, we were equipped with food for 2 days, so we didn't have to go back to the village and so we could fully enjoy the peace and quiet. Bring insect spray. There are some mosquitoes.

We really fell in love with the Cima del mundo! Swin and Jedy are attentive, caring hosts, and always ready to share their valuable tips to make the most of the surroundings. Their recommendations for walks were perfect, and allowed us to discover beautiful corners of the Chirripo Valley. The setting is superb, surrounded by nature, quiet and rejuvenating. The house we stayed in was spacious, comfortable, and even more beautiful than the pictures! A real corner of paradise to escape, recharge and breathe. Thanks again for everything🙏. We hope to see you soon. 💛

What a magical place! A beautiful place, maintained with love (for detail), very clean. It is clearly noticeable that this is a project of the heart! The house is super practically furnished, with everything you need (including in the kitchen), we felt incredibly comfortable. The surroundings and landscape are unique. Swin is very accessible and takes time to answer any questions as well as to give tips. Swin & family are very helpful. Enriching and very benevolent exchange. We stayed a week and every day was worth it! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this wonderful stay!

The place is very nicely located, the view from the breakfast table outside is magnificent. However, you should be prepared for a rough approach, 4WD would be helpful. We were very warmly received by the hostess, she responded quickly to inquiries and gave helpful tips on things to do nearby. Only the kitchen equipment left something to be desired. The house itself is lovingly designed, with visible wooden elements and beautiful ribbon interior.

This place is more beautiful than pictures can show. We loved the artistic build of the cabin with lots of attention to detail and wood finishing. The location is off the beaten path but the views and wildlife, combined with the sweet local village really make it worth while. We stayed with our 2 boys age 7 and 10. They loved playing on the trampoline with Swin’s son. We really enjoyed hiking the path on the property- saw 2 monkeys- and we visited the secret garden, local cheese shop and bakery in the village. The sunset from the viewpoint on the property was spectacular! Thank you Swin and family, you have made a beautiful place to stay!

The cottage rented by Swin has been renovated recently and we really enjoyed it. The work done is of quality. The accommodation is warm, very well equipped, there were games for our young children who had a lot of fun. It is possible to eat outside or inside and the environment is very quiet, we slept very well. Thank you for the warm welcome, the walking and restaurant tips in the area, and for making the games in the garden available.

In summary: Without a doubt, a rating of 5 stars. We'd love to come again. Area: From the mountain we enjoyed the vast nature, the most beautiful views, a fantastic sunset and the silence. Even though you stay on top of the mountain, the market and the excursions are close. House: Casita del Sol is a very cozily furnished house. It is clean and there is plenty of utensils for cooking. And Swin: Swin is very nice. She received us personally and gave us a brief explanation of how to use the house. And if you have any questions, she's always there for you. We'll have a new friend in five days.

for our accommodation, large terrace on the 1st level very nice and overlooking the main road. in rainy season, quiet but at other times, certainly more lively.

Host Response

This was our last stay in Costa Rica and is was undoubtedly the very best we had! Literally everything was perfect: the house, the location, tons of toys for our kids (indoor and outdoor!) and of course the genuinely warm welcome of Swin. Very close the cloubridge reserve and Swin had enough recommendations to keep you the busy for a week. In short: Definitely recommended! And don't worry about the road: although slightly bumpy (as in so many places in Costa Rica), it is really manageable.

This house was really a delight to stay in. It was comfortable, clean, and the location was beautiful with amazing views of the forest and mountains around. Swin and her family made us feel very welcome. The temperature was cool (not too cold) at night which was an excuse to have a nice log fire in the evenings especially after going for a night walk in the rain to look for frogs, and we were not disappointed. Swin gave us a lot of recommendations about what to do in the area and this made our stay all the more interesting. If you don't feel like driving out, there's a nice forest walk up the road directly from the property, and even on the property she has a beautiful garden with hummingbirds and butterflies. If you haven't been to this part of Costa Rica it's well worth a visit.

The cabin was roomy, well equipped, comfortable and had beautiful views. The surroundings were very peaceful and there was excellent habitat along the nearby trail. Easy walking and comfortable climate. Swin was very accommodating, a great host.

We had such a restful time at Swin’s place. It was a nice break from the heat and humidity of the coast. The view from the front porch was incredible, we enjoyed eating outside and taking in everything around us. A nice bonus for our kids were the toys and books they found at the house. The outdoor play area was also great and spacious and our two kids loved playing with Swin’s son despite not speaking the same language! We liked walking around the grounds and it was not a far drive to get to everything we wanted to see. Wonderful stay, thank you Swin!

We are a family of 4 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 (with 2 young children 1 & 3 years) and we stayed for 4 nights @ Swin’s place. The house is perfectly equipped for families, appart from that, you will fall in love with the place… lovely details everywhere 😍 which make you feel right at home ☺️ but also the surroundings are very beautiful and the view is stunning! 🤩 Swin is a great host, very responsive and helpful 🧚‍♀️ We were sad when our stay came to an end, we wished we could have stayed longer… Highly recommend this place!

This property is placed perfectly to see all the views and mountains around. We could not get over how stunning the views were, and the place was super well crafted. A lot of live went into the making of this place and it really shows! Swin was very responsive and helpful! despite our late arrival she came to meet us for check in, explained all the need to knows, and showed us her booklet of things to do, hikes, and useful info. overall we had a wonderful stay here. will definitely recommend and would love to return again!

Swin was nice, communicative and always present when needed. She also did us a huge favor letting us receive a friend who needed a place to stay that night. We loved the place and the view but we don't recommend if you are looking for a super private setting, the house is next to the hosts'. We had a misunderstanding since we didn't know we were supposed to do 100% of the dishes (since there was a cleaning fee included). I usually clean when is requested by the host, this time wasn't specified. Overall, I recommend.

We stayed for two nights in this very comfortable house. Swin was an excellent host. The house is more like a home than a holiday location. It is individually designed, well built, and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The approach to the house needs a car capable of going up steep rough roads. Our aged 4x4 was ok for the road but our 1300 engine had some trouble on the steep parts. However Swin was very kind and took us down to Canaan for lunch and collected us later. She supplied us with wood for the fire which we did not really need but was pleasant in the cool evening. The stay was a highlight of our trip.

There won't be enough words to say thanks and express the quality of hosts who were Swin, their husband and children. We felt right at home and it definitely exceeded expectations. They are wonderful people, we literally felt like family. We have already started counting the days to return. Thanks Lilo, nice and helpful smart little smart, we missed you! In short, the energy that this family transmits is from another world ! *The next visit we promise that we will already speak at least a few words in the beautiful French language

Swin and his family were super welcoming and friendly. The landscape is really beautiful and the accommodation well equipped and super charming with its rustic style. Swin was very quick to respond to our messages and gave great tips (restaurant, activity, etc.) I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay there again. Consider that in the mountains it is a little colder and cloudy than anywhere else in the country.

Our stay at Chimirol was absolutely magical! Tucked away, situated right against a national park, this place exhibits spectacular views of the mountains and the valley. There is a wonderful hiking trail that goes behind the property. It is great for any age as it is pretty flat. It winds around the edge of the mountain. Swin, the owner, is a wonderful lady. She is very hospitable and knowledgeable about the area. The cabin we stayed in is very cozy with a fireplace which we loved using as nights in this part of Costa Rica get a bit crisp. Overall, our experience was a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend this place!!!

Beautiful and Cozy! Our family of 4 very much enjoyed our 5 night stay at La Cima del Mundo! We were a little worried on the drive up. (The road is very rough), but after a couple of trips down and up we got used to it and were able to explore local restaurants, stores and the Panadería. My girls became friends with Swin’s son which was good with learning some Spanish. We were able to a short lesson from Swin how to make bookmarks from Costa Rican seeds! We loved watching the birds and hiked a bit nearby. The internet was good for my husband was working remotely and Swin gave some excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

Swins place is really well equipped and great location to reach chirripo and surrounding nature. There’s the bonus of having a fireplace which is cosy for the evenings and the kitchen is very big to cater for all your needs as we like to cook a lot. There’s a lovely front porch where you can relax and take in the beautiful nature. Swin was an amazing host very accommodating and sweet we 100 percent recommend this place! Thankyou

Very cool, cozy home. Very creative design. Safe location. There is a road near the house that you can walk down that goes into the forest we enjoyed. We saw monkeys and various birds. It is flat and easy to walk. Beautiful plants, and flowers. We arrived earlier then expected to Rivas and Swin allowed us to check in early, responded right away when I asked. We really appreciated this :) Close to the small town, mt chirripo, and the cloud forest. Butterfly dome in town and restaurants. WiFi worked well. There was a binder and a map of stuff to do near by which was really nice. Thank you!

It is so wonderful to find a fairly level area to walk around on top of a mountain like it is at this place... The drive to the house is kind of like going on safari... we went in rainy season, so it was perhaps a little more challenging than during a dryer time. We had a big four wheel drive car, and I think that is recommended. Swin and Jedy are great hosts, and they have a very very magical place there. There is a very interesting history with former hydro electric infrastructure which was a very large scale project many many years ago... abandoned ultimately and then the canals and giant water holding pools were transformed into a place for people to go boating, fishing, and swimming... there is an old restaurant from that time too... right next to Swin and Jedy's place. The cottages are nestled close to each other, but with nice privacy too. The views are stupendous. There is an old road 4.5 kilometers long which was put in place for the aqueduct to the pools... etc. and this road is long and flat, and a total pleasure to walk along. Swin and Jedy allowed us to bring our dogs, and they were so safe and happy there!! The cottage is adorable, and the fireplace just so cosy and wonderful! We made fires every evening. The decor was super charming, and the artistic touches were everywhere... so thoughtful ... making the place feel infused with love. I loved the kitchen, for a small place, it was huge! Very nice to work in there. The beds were small for us, so we each took one... which was absolutely fine. It rained while we were there, and we loved it. We loved everything about this place, it was by far the most wonderful and interesting place we had ever stayed in Costa Rica, and we have been to many many places. Just pure magic... I would say that you need to be a bit of an adventurer to truly appreciate this place... it is very comfortable, but I think those who want a polished hotel like experience may feel challenged here. Having said that, it would be great for those looking to expand their horizons and do something new and unexpected. This place is by far top of my list for a truly amazing Costa Rican experience. Thank you Swin and Jedy for sharing your paradise with others... we send you our warmest regards, Nina and Chris

Well, this place is just tough to capture with words. We’ve been traveling in Central America for almost a year and it’s rare you find the combination of host/hospitality/quality/location/energy/etc., etc. I would live here if I could make it work. The house is extremely well constructed, designed, equipped and furnished. The area is absolutely magical and the little villages nearby are sufficient for all of your needs. We mainly cooked in the house and just soaked up the beautiful vistas and landscapes of the area. Highly recommend Swin and Jedy, wow.

Beautiful views, great location, cosy house and Swin was lovely and helpful with her recommendations. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking to disconnect and spend time in nature. I will be back :)

Swin is probably the most attentive AirBnB host I have ever had. The place itself is spectacular. Super cozy and even has a Fireplace inside with a chimney! So amazing to run the fireplace in Costa Rica! lol It's the good thing of being up in the mountains! The cool weather was a wonderful break from the usual heat. The surrounding rivers are stunning. The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed. This is my 2nd time staying here and would definitely would stay again. Thank you Swin!

We loved our stay! The pictures don’t do it justice. This place is more beautiful than expected! The design is so wonderful, with sweet and thoughtful personal touches in every corner. It had everything we needed to cook and stay in, but was close enough to Chirripo and cloudbridge to go for hikes and explore all of town. The sunsets are so stellar. There’s lots to explore on the property. The beds were super comfortable! It feels so calm and peaceful that I got some of the best sleep of my life at this place. We stayed for 5 nights and the Wifi always worked great. The family was so kind and accommodating. They gave us some amazingly delicious and nutritious fresh eggs, and we composted all of our scraps. Their dog Pitchie is super sweet and it was very nice to have her dog presence around, as we always miss our dogs so much while we travel. Swin also makes beautiful keychains and bookmarks, so be sure to check those out! Don’t miss a chance to stay at this property. You definitely will need 4x4

What a magical place this is, hosted by a wonderful family. First, the house is amazingly stylish and serene. This Airbnb property is special and clearly a labor of love. We enjoyed sitting around the table on the porch, viewing birds and hummingbirds. At sunset, we walked the property to catch a great view over the mountains. Like many roads in Costa Rica, the climb up to the property is bumpy but our all-wheel drive vehicle did it easily. The nearby towns are lovely. We had a great tour of the cloud forest, bought some cheese from the local cheesemaker, and dined at a wonderful restaurant.

We came with our 3 year old and loved our visit, the property is very family friendly. We explored, trampolined, played in the sandbox as well as relaxed. I loved Chirripo and its surrounding area. The mountains and crisp air are such a beautiful reprieve from the humid ocean air. The road is no big deal 4x4 and takes about 10 or 15 minutes. A lot of love and dedication has been put into this home and it shows in all the ways. We would come back happily.

This cabin is in a fantastic location to get away into nature. Lots of hikes and other nature related activities in the area. Definitely need a good 4x4 because the drive is intense but it's well worth the effort to get there. Would definitely stay here again. Place was simple, clean, and comfortable.

This place was an amazing beginning to our journey. Swin and Jedy welcomed us and provided excellent communication and recommendations for area sites to see. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Already miss the tranquility of mountains, morning hikes on the private trail, and the river views. A 4x4 is recommended. The nearby cheese factory, bakery, and Cloudbridge waterfalls and hikes are a must.
