2BR Home in Playa Grande

Mitch

Excellent, 1 week ago

Thanks for having us, it was a wonderful stay!

A spectacular place. From the moment you arrive, you feel the tranquility of the natural surroundings: pure green, birds, and silence. The construction is beautiful — wood and palm everywhere, very cool even though the Guanacaste sun is beating down outside. Everything was impeccably clean and tidy, with attention to every last detail. The private pool saved our afternoons with the little ones. And the location is perfect: minutes from Playa Grande and with everything close by. Sophie is an excellent host, very attentive. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended. 🌴

Host Response

Thank you, and yes, families really love the big pool ;)

A very very high standard of amenities, facilities and atmosphere. The place is thoughtfully planned. The building, pool, living area and kitchen are striking. All facilities and amenities needed are there. Decoration is very thoughtful and tasteful. It breathes an atmosphere of luxury without the over the top nonsense. By nature I am a restless person but even I enjoyed hanging around here and looking at the trogons pass by, the raccoon family run around and just enjoying the house in all its glory. The bar was raised by Sophie as this place is immaculate. Distance to beaches is within ten minutes (surf haven playa grande) or a little further for a more American feeling (playa brasilito), a Local feeling (playa Puerto Viejo) or wild feeling (baia Piratas).

Host Response

Thank you so much, Arlo, your words really touch me.

What a fantastic place, we absolutely loved it! We stayed here at the end of our three-week trip around Costa Rica, and it was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a few peaceful days. The house was incredibly comfortable and had everything we needed, as well as a beautiful, stylish interior and an amazing setting surrounded by lush green vegetation, with monkeys in the trees right outside. The beach was close by, and there was a great choice of restaurants in the area. Sophie’s guidebook was incredibly useful, we actually used it every single day! Thank you so much, Sophie, for putting so much thought into everything and making the house such a wonderful place for your guests. We would happily come back!

Kinamira is comfortable & easy to access with beautiful decorations and European details. A quick drive to the beach and the hosts were fast to respond to everything we needed. The wine for purchase in the fridge was an amazing addition! I stayed with my mom so the open floor plan was ok for us, but because the walls do not go to the ceiling, there is very little privacy in the bathroom or bedroom. With only 1 AC in the bedroom, sleeping in the extra bed by the kitchen was pretty hot at night even with the multiple fans. The private plunge pool is shaded and therefore more like a cold plunge. There is also a shared pool on property but we didn’t have time to use it.

Host Response

Thank you, Pierce, for your comments. However, we’d like to clarify that our listing describes a semi-open bathroom—a feature typical of the tropical architecture of our cottages—as well as air conditioning in the master bedroom; natural ventilation allows you to enjoy the cool night air. As for the private pool, it is at ambient temperature, like the vast majority of pools in Costa Rica. Its location provides more shade at certain times of the day, which many travelers appreciate for cooling off in the tropical climate. (Its temperature ranges between 84.5 and 91 degrees Fahrenheit during the rainy season.)

We had such an amazing time here. Visited daily by iguanas, monkeys and all kinds of beautiful birds. The cottage is beautifully decorated and all we wanted to do was relax outside and by the communal pool, which we mostly had to ourselves. Great communicative host with lots of local tips and a useful guidebook. Edit before review window closed: Over a week after we arrived home I received a near $200 payment request to replace pots and pans from Sophie which were already slightly damaged when we arrived. We did our usual best to clean everything up and leave it exactly as we found it, but all we did was cook using the pans. There weren't a lot of dining options considering there was no power or water the whole day before we left. Obviously not the fault of the hosts, which is why I never initially called it out in my review. Just be sure to document any minor damages and take pictures. I should’ve done the same. Disputing the charges but an unfortunate end to an otherwise lovely stay

Host Response

Well, we are also sorry that this replacement request has tarnished the end of a stay that seemed to have gone very well. However, we would like to point out that the pots and pans were in good condition before your arrival and that the damage found upon your departure was significant and irreversible despite several attempts at cleaning. We can understand that you are disputing this request, so we have forwarded the photos and materials to Airbnb for a decision to be made based on the facts. We always do our best not to charge our guests for the slightest incident or wear and tear. But when recent equipment becomes unusable, we consider it normal to ask for it to be taken care of rather than systematically bearing the cost. However, we hope you enjoy your stay.
