Fantastic location. So close to town. Very walkable. The pool is a huge plus for those hot days or as a great alternative to a beach day. Plenty of space in the house. Secured parking. This is my go-to house for family and friends in this area. Highly recommend.

Beautiful house with all the amenities and extras you'd need for a stay in Puerto Viejo. The pool, patio area, kitchen, living room and bedrooms were all spotless and felt very well cared for. My wife and daughter were completely comfortable being outside at night as they enjoyed evening swims. the privacy gave us a real sense of comfort.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay at the Surf Shack. Beautiful home and property in a great location, walkable to town and the beach and an easy drive to several other beaches and restaurants. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare a few meals. The bathroom was newly remodeled. We enjoyed relaxing at the pool each day after the beach. We had a minor issue that the hosts responded to and resolved quickly. The guide book was provided shortly after we booked and helped us plan for our time in Puerto Viejo. Great hosts - highly recommend the Surf Shack! Would stay again!

My family enjoyed stay at the house

I loved the place, and in the early morning, with the sound of the birds, it was magical. The pool was just perfect.

Olivia & Julian’s are great host, the went above on beyond to help us out for an early check in, they didn’t rush us on check out, they periodically checked on us to see if they could be of any help. They are great, I recommend their place 110% and ask new comers to help them keep it like that by following their simple house rules, they are very nice people that are willing to work with you so you have a great experience and find a home away from home.

This home was amazing, and honestly more than we could have expected! Wonderful location, super relaxing and private, and beautiful! perfect home base for our traveling family of four. we loved returning every evening, and enjoying the pool and other comforts after exploring the beautiful area. Easy walk to food, beaches, market, etc. Couldn't have been better! Host was great, clear, responsive, and vested in guests having a great experience.

We loved staying at the Surf Shack. It was as described and we enjoyed every minute. The pool was great and we spent a lot of time outside. Loved listening to and spotting all the tropical birds every morning. We saw iguanas and sloths in the tree opposite the house. It was also a great location to explore the area. We rented bikes and explored the town and surrounding areas. It was hard to leave.

The service from the first moment you book with them is wonderful, super helpful at all times, they are in contact with you. The house is spectacular, super nice, well equipped and above all very central, everything is very close to walk to. The pool is appreciated when you arrive from the beach to take a dip. The tranquility of being at home. I would recommend it one hundred percent. I hope to be back soon. Thank you for everything Olivia and Julián.

This is the second time we have stayed here and have absolutely zero regrets. Hope to stay here a third time next year!

What a great spot! We had a lovely stay at Olivia and Julian's home. The home is comfortable and spacious. The design-- spiral staircase leading to lofted master bedroom --is charming. The beds are comfy and we slept well. The kitchen is well-appointed; we had no problems cooking meals. Numerous AC units kept the heat and humidity out. Unfortunately, the couch felt cheap and uncomfortable. We were excited to use the little outdoor gym, but ultimately found the heat too draining. The small ceiling-mounted fan was broken during our stay. The location could not be better! A 5 min walk to lively downtown PV, but far enough to avoid the noise. For surfing, Playa Cocles is a short drive, and Punta Uva / Playa Grande are about 15 minutes. This was a working vacation. While there are two desks in the home, there are not chairs comfortable enough (for us, at least) to sit in for a full day. We were glad to have brought our own (bough from a Maxi Pali). Would stay again!

This was by far our favorite stay in Puerto Viejo. The pool, the grounds, the home were top tier. Our adult children loved the location for the PV nightlife, and we all enjoyed the proximity to the seaside walking trail. The tree across the street gave us front row access to view a family of sloths go about their daily rituals. Olivia was a gracious and responsive host. We will be back!

What a great place to stay. Comfortable beds, great AC, beautiful pool. Fantastic location with an easy walk to great restaurants and the beach. Wildlife was crazy just sitting by the pool. Tons and tons of birds. Saw a mama sloth and her baby three different days in the tree right by the property. One day, the tree was filled with iguanas-- very large ones. We are already planning our next trip back!

Great place for our stay. Clean and well presented. Liked the 4 stage Reverse Osmosis system for drinking water, but we drank the tap water (boys did not know at first about the seperate tap) at the house and in town. Good location and walk-able to town with restaurants close by. Loved the pool! They could improve their cookware like a bigger frying pan. Would stay here again. My wife and boys (young adults) loved the house and pool. Can't wait till our next visit. Pura Vida!
