The place was perfect for us. It was quiet, clean, and a short 5 min walk to the beach. There were several places to tent either surf boards, boogie boards, or bikes. The beach was incredible. It was huge, not busy, had great waves for surfing or playing, and soft white sand. Despite the small town, there were at least 5 restaurants within walking distance, and they were all extremely delicious with many options. Kai was a great host; friendly, communicative, and even provided a mid week cleaning. I will definitely be back to this area, and probably Kai’s place.

We thought the casita was exactly perfect for the stay we were looking for. Kai was super nice, responsive, checked on us during our stay, but mostly left us alone. We spent a lot of time out, but when we were there we enjoyed watching the monkeys in the tree around us, the iguanas scattering about, the black hawks circling for prey…it was just awesome. While we didn’t have a/c, we found that we were very comfortable at night and slept great with the fresh air blowing through. Should we ever have opportunity to visit again, we’d absolutely stay at the casita again. Thank you, Kai!

The beach was fantastic. The house was great, but very windy inside because of all net instead of glas. Kai is very helpsam and is a great host!

Host Response

Thank you for your input. During your stay the entire area was experiencing a major high wind storm advisory. An act of God! Something completely out of my control. However, during the dry months from November to May windy conditions are normal. Those days the first week of February were greatly exaggerated. All is back to normal and all good at Casa Linda Vista, Playa Grande.

The place is beautiful, and Craig was there the whole time. However, almost no water came out of the showers, the sheets and towels were very old, as was the bedding. There were no cleaning supplies, and the staircase was dangerous, as a step broke when one of my children was going down. It was really dangerous. When we told Craig, he got mad at us, told us he had that ladder for 30 years and it had never broken. He didn't ask if anyone had been hurt. He just got angry and the next day he came to fix it. That attitude really caught our attention. The house is very nice, the place too, but it needs maintenance and the linens (towels and sheets need a good update). I asked for a hair dryer, and he told me to dry my hair with the wind, which was not within the specifications of the house. Then Craig apologized and we didn't leave early. It's a shame we can't recommend it, but that was our experience.

Host Response

I am not in the habit of writing reviews of past guests. In this case I felt the need to defend myself. I wish I had taken the advice from the other hosts reviews on Roseanna prior to accepting her reservation. After over 30 + years and thousands of great guests passing through the 3 houses at Casa Linda Vista, Playa Grande. She is one of a very few people I would avoid. Incredibly within hours, she starting looking for what she thought was missing from the house making demands. She was exceptionally upset there was no hair dry. All these requested items are not offered amenities at the property as per the listings. We work very hard accommodating or guests. All 3 houses at Casa Linda Vista. Playa Grande and the 3 acre grounds are very well maintained and clean. Hundreds of prior reviews will reflect that. The beds and mattresses are all brand new. Along with the bedding and pillows. The towels are constantly being replaced as needed. Her statement of them being VERY old just in not true. The shower nozzle in the upstairs shower was clogged and has been replaced. There is plenty of water pressure. I can’t explain how the sturdy stair on the stair case got broken?? It is a wooden staircase built with from Costa Rican Hard Woods. It was repaired the first thing the following morning. Instead of spending her vacation time criticizing, critiquing and expressing her disapproval. Maybe, take a walk on the beach, take a yoga class, watch the sunset or just relax and enjoy the gardens, grounds wild life at Casa Linda Vista. For that unfortunately,, I cannot recommend Roseanna. Sorry, but that was my experience. Just remember I told you so. It’s all good at Casa Linda Vista, Playa Grande.

Very nice house on private and safe land. Craig was a great host. He was easily available for us. We saw several monkeys and the vegetation is beautiful. 7-8 minute walk to the beach by a small safe path. It's not hot even if there's no air conditioning because there are big fans on the ceiling of each room to cool it down. We hear the sea, it's a pleasant sound, and we see it on the balcony on the second floor. Thanks again for everyone!
