At CasaPocahontas, you can really unwind. You can see the love that was put into the house and its furnishings. Sebastian was always helpful and friendly. Also, the beach nearby is much, much nicer than the one in SJD.

We had a pleasant stay at this accommodation. At first, the open-layout design took some getting used to, but after a short time we felt very comfortable and appreciated the unique style. Overall, it was a great experience. Thx

We had an amazing time at this jungle abode. The house itself was perfect for us and its outdoor living concept was great. We enjoyed surfing almost every day for the month we were there with our family of 4. The trek to and from Playa Maderas definately has a good hill, but still very walkable and easy to navigate now that the construction is complete. We loved the land cruiser that we also rented from Sebastian directly. Due to the hill and uneven terrain closer to the house the high clearance was a must and even in the the dry season the 4WD was helpful on the sand. It was amazing to be able to easily check out and surf at many of the beaches in the surrounding area with the new highway in place. Thank you so much Sebastian and care taker Phillip for all your helpful advice and kindness. We loved the place and our overall experience in Nicaragua was fabulous.

Loved our stay in Playa Maderas. Beautiful, clean home, 5 min walk from the beach. Great communication from our host. Would definitely stay here again!

Very nice house. It’s on quite a steep hill, so carrying all your belongings can be quite tough. They’re working on the road, so unfortunately you can hear that. But otherwise it’s a nice location and there was good, fast communication with Sebastiaan.

Had a great stay at Pocahontas! It’s only a short walk to the beach but still super private and quiet, which made it perfect for relaxing. Philipp and Sebastian were super helpful and easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay here again!

We’re a canadian family with two adult children who stay 2 weeks at Casa Pocahontas. It was exactly what we had hoped for. A private jungle get away! We loved listening to the birds & monkeys & the surfing was perfect for our daughter & partner. Hill to & from the beach is very walkable even at 60! Cooked most meals in the casa & had numerous options for dining out. Our favorite place - Machete! San juan del sur is 20 mins away & had the supplies we needed for our stay. Food truck came twice a week & fruit made for delicious smoothies. My husband & I played tennis at a new court called Drop Shot, highly recommend for tennis enthusiasts! Sebastian was an incredible host, always available & gave us lots of recommendations for touring the area & Granada. He also arranged transportation to & from the costa rican border because we flew in & out of Liberia. The area was “very” safe & the locals so welcoming! We plan on returning, next time for much longer! Thanks so much sebastian!

The architecture is beautiful, spacious and comfy. Large kitchen. The host was responsive and helpful. Only inconvenience is the location, which is a (very) steep hill away from a large construction side, then the beach. But that's outside of his control. Overall recommended!

Such a beautiful place to stay in the jungle. Very comfortable and so lovely to hear the howler monkeys! Not much instructions for how to get to the house and not much instructions for in the house itself - otherwise, beautiful space, just be self sufficient!

Thank you so much for your review and staying with us — we’re really happy to hear that you had a great time. Regarding the missing instructions, we’d truly appreciate it if you could share a bit more detail. It also helps us a lot if you let us know already during your stay so we can react immediately and adapt things for you. We always try to be as helpful as possible, so if you ever feel you need more information, please just tell us what exactly you’re missing. For your next visit, we’re more than happy to arrange transport as offered.

Communication with Sebastian is quick and great. When we arrived, the rooms were not as clean as desired. We made Sebastian aware of this, and he immediately organized the cleaning lady for the next day. Price / performance is unbeatable.

Great house for younger, party type people. We were booked for 3 nights but only stayed 2. We stayed at 5 homes total on our trip in the same area and sadly this one was not a good fit for us. The amount of large spiders in the home made it very uncomfortable. We have homes in central america as well and 100% familiar with the bugs. Fairly close to a great beach with some great food options. Another note for anyone that is a light sleeper, lots of people up late and very early, you hear everything. There is also the construction for the new coast highway right there and they are working 7 days a week from about 630am til 8=830pm.
Host Response
Thank you for your honest feedback — we’re truly sorry that your stay didn’t meet your expectations. The issue with spiders is unfortunate, and we are taking immediate action by fumigating the house to prevent this from happening again. Regarding the comment about “party people,” we kindly disagree — most of our neighbors are local families, and the area generally has a peaceful atmosphere. However, as it’s a popular surf spot, it’s common for people to be up early to catch the waves. As for the nearby road construction, it’s part of a government highway project, and unfortunately beyond our control. That said, the hours mentioned (6:30 am–8:30 pm, 7 days a week) aren’t entirely accurate, as local labor laws limit such schedules. We always encourage guests to reach out during their stay if anything comes up — whether it’s insects, noise, or any other issue — so we can take immediate steps to make things right (like sending our cleaning team, providing mosquito nets, or speaking with neighbors). We appreciate your feedback and wish you great travels ahead.

Beautiful House perched above the canopy, the house is very nice and completely open to nature in the living area on the first floor with a superb terrace and plenty of places to chill (large hammock, outdoor living room, armchairs). The house is very well thought out, the bedrooms are located on the ground floor with a beautiful terrace overlooking the trees, as well as the bathroom. The decor is minimalist and fits completely into the space. Access to the house is quite difficult, so it is necessary to plan for a 4x4, especially with the rainy season that begins because the track is dirt and can be slippery in rainy weather. The slope is steep as well as the hill that leads to Playa Madera. Once you arrive, the walk to the beach takes ten minutes. There are beach restaurants and bars as well as board rentals and surf lessons🏄🏽♂️. Sebastian was responsive and gave good tips. Thank you

We had a very nice stay at Casa Pocahontas and felt right at home. The house is decorated with a lot of love and is located about 10-15 minutes walk from Playa Maderas. We spent a lot of time in the open living area with the huge terrace. A great place to relax, read a book or watch the wildlife in the jungle. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were well equipped. There was even a yoga mat and blackrolls. If we had any questions, Sebastian was always available and due to the keybox the check in/out was very flexible and uncomplicated. We can only recommend the Casa and would definitely come back again.
