Excellent, 1 year ago

An excellent place to spend a pleasant weekend with family or friends, highly recommended

Chris's place was quiet and beautiful. It was just what my family needed. Although it was 1 hour from Penasco so the drive was a little long. But we loved it,

Host Response

I’m so glad you made it to our place and had a nice time. Sorry about the broken kayak paddle, I was down there this weekend and replaced it. Try to visit again when things warm up!

The stay was great and peaceful at the house. It accommodated greatly to the large group we had. We loved that it’s more secluded and private, away from the ambience of rocky point. Unfortunately our GPS sent us the wrong way and delayed us by about 2 hours, this is no fault of Chris. They were very accommodating and were open to late checkouts and even staying an extra day. The beach is great, with views of the dolphins playing around in the morning. The only brutal part is walking up the sandy hill back to the house, Considering we went during a really hot month.

Beautiful house, incredible view, on a very private beach! The walk down to the beach from the house is quite steep, so prepare yourself. But, once you get down there, it’s worth it! Also, there’s an inspection point about 40 minutes from the house, so be prepared to stop and answer questions. We hit a few bumps on our trip, but Chris respond my quickly and resolved everything in a timely manner. If you’re looking for a spacious house in a very private location for a great price, this is the one for you!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is such a hidden getaway!! Just breathtaking!!!! Everything about the location is just perfect !! I took the drive out leaving from Los Angeles took about 7 hours well worth the drive!!! The host went way above and beyond to make sure we were okay with knowing about different stores and which location was best to get things!! We rented the horses to ride along the private beach and also the bonfire was just the added touch for the nightly perfect weather!! Will DEFINITELY BE BACK THIS SUMMER!!!

Gorgeous location right on the beach. The ocean is shallow so you can wade out quite a way, and the water was nice and warm even in March. The host has 2 kayaks and a stand up paddleboard available for use. There is also a restaurant two streets over that has good food and will deliver to the house. Host was very responsive and had everything ready for us when we arrived. Would highly recommend if you want a beautiful and remote beach getaway.

Easy to find, clean house, only 40 or so minutes farther than Playa Encanto where we typically stay, very nice host, guard gated very small community, beautiful views, very few people on the beach to the point that at times we would be the only family there, quiet and relaxing. They key thing to know about this or any property in Santo Tomás for us was the very steep incline to the beach. My mother in law could not make the climb up to the house from the beach. We wound up driving down the ramp to the sand each day to bring her and others that didn’t want to make the climb back. You will need a 4x4 to do this as the sand is very soft. Separately, there are far fewer shells here than Playa Encanto for the kids to pick, there is quite a bit more wildlife however, as we saw quite a few crabs, jellyfish and even stingrays.

We had a lovely stay at Chris' beachfront house. The house was perfect for our group of 9, with each bedroom having its own bathroom. The location was just what we wanted--easy to get to, but enough off the beaten path to really feel like we had the peace and tranquility we were all craving after the holidays. Chris was quick to respond with any questions we had. The house had all the amenities we could need and the kayaks were an extra bonus--we spent each day paddling alongside dolphins and playing in the small waves. The beach was perfect for walking and beach combing. We will definitely return!

This home is beautiful and the location is great! The views from the living room and back patio are amazing. The home is clean, up to date and spacious. Nice big kitchen and living space made relaxing from a long day at the beach very enjoyable as we ate, visited and enjoyed the amazing sunsets. Chris is very helpful and awesome to work with! He has an attention to detail and has a large assortment of beach equipment for your enjoyment. It was a pleasure to rent his home. This property is a little further south of Rocky Point but easy to get to and you will find that the quiet beach, beautiful home and community are so worth it. This is truly an incredible find and our family plans to go back again and again. You will not be disappointed!!!

This is an amazing home with a breathtaking view. It is a little difficult to find, but Chris was so quick to answer his phone and help provide clear directions! It is well worth the drive and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with incredible views, just steps from the ocean! The home is equipped with many beach amenities making it enjoyable and EASY! We used the kayaks to see dolphins up close, made smores in the firepit and relaxed! Chris is flexible and accommodating in every message!

Thanks so much for sharing your house. We walked in and about died from the view. It was really a great place...well-cared for...clean and fresh towels, fresh hand-soap, dishwasher, etc. Excellent heating...it was pretty chilly some nights. Also, loved the balconies and chairs. Thanks also for making the water toys available to us. Great house layout, too...perfect for 3 families with a total of 5 kids who bunked happily! We’d certainly visit again!

This is a great house. We all enjoyed our time here very much. It is a beautiful secluded community in the sand dunes on the Sea of Cortez. The sunsets are the best we have ever seen compared to Rocky Point. ATV’s and four wheelers are encouraged since the houses are on top of the sand dunes and it is a bit of a hike down to the beach. We ended up taking our truck down to carry supplies down to the beach because we had small children. Overall we loved this house and it’s amenities! It was perfect for our group of 8 adults and 2 infants to have a nice relaxing get away. We would definitely rent it again!

Overall: We had a lovely stay at the beach house. The beach was gorgeous, when the tide was high there was a lot of shallow water to splash around in, and when the tide was low there was really wonderful little tide pools and lots of shells to find. We loved the kayaks and the paddle board (although we had a hard time not tipping the canoe) and took them out to swim with the dolphins. The dolphins came by nearly every morning and got close enough to swim and play with us, although I imagine it depends on the time of year wether or not they show up. We did use binoculars a lot to spy on dolphins and sea birds and boats. The sunsets were beautiful and we slept on the roof a few nights to look at the stars (after the moon had set), although it did get pretty chilly in the mornings. Location: A little over an hour outside of Puerto Penasco, this gated community was a nice getaway. It was private and the guards were very helpful and friendly. There were a few other people on the beach and out in boats, but it never felt crowded. We took a day trip into PP to rent jet skis, go shopping, and eat some tacos. There was not much besides the one convenient store in the little town next to Santo Thomas; but they do sell basic amenities. House: The house was huge -true to the photos. There were six of us and plenty of room. The house was not hotel-quality clean or comfortable, but there was plenty of space to spread out. The water pressure was low, so showers and laundry had to be planned and we gave up on this dishwasher. There were some funky beach smells around the house. The overall feel of the house is open and airy, the beach is serene and calm. Six days was a perfect time for our family to enjoy the house and the beach. Thank you to Chris for being easy to communicate with and opening his house to us.

Chris was very helpful.. everything that was listed including kitchen appliances was in great condition .. we do recommend bringing a lot of bottled water and food since there is nothing around for miles except the mini market 20 minutes away that does have some basic things.. drive is a little rough part of the road in construction and the last part all terrain but when we got there it was worth it (about 6 hour drive from san diego) walk to the beach is not far .. we brought tents and beach chairs (beach chairs werent needed).. house has ac which is great .. beds were comfortable no cel phone service but wifi signal was good and if someone is wondering no pokemon around great trip :-)

Chris was very helpful with any questions we had, and with directions. He was quick to respond as well, which was greatly appreciated. The house was GREAT, clean, and ready to use. The kitchen had everything we needed. We brought all of our own food and drinks, so we did not have to stop in at the closest town for anything. The community guards were also helpful with anything we needed and the people we ran into on the beach and community were very friendly. I would definitely recommend staying here, it is well worth it.

Thank you Chris for letting us stay in your beach house. It is a beautiful area and a very quite neighborhood. It is about an 1 1/2 hour drive from Rocky Point, unless you drive really fast, then you can make it in an hour. The house has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Three of the bedroom have the bathrooms in the room. One bedroom has 3 sets of bunk beds, so it's a perfect rental for 3 families with kids. My girls loved playing on the beach and even swam in the cold water. Since this beach is quite, it was a great place to collect seashells and bird watch. We never found a store in town, but we stopped in Rocky Point for fish and brought every else we needed from home. Currently the house doesn't have wifi, but Chris is adding it this year. Cell service is very spotty. The kitchen has everything you need. Bring wood for the outside fireplace or the inside one. I would recommend renting this house. You can enjoy and relaxing vacation.

House and location were amazing! We saw maybe a dozen people near by on Labor Day weekend. Water was warm, house was clean, beds were comfy. We were made aware the stairs leading to the ocean were under repair. This made the hike up and down to the ocean challenging. It made it difficult to bring chairs, toys, etc. downhill let alone back up the hill. The lack of stairs put a bit of a damper on our vacation, especially for the elderly in our group. Our trip to a couple local grocery stores was disappointing. Choices there are minimal. Fortunately we brought enough of our own food for the weekend.

Host Response

Thanks for staying with us Mason! Stairs are now fixed (originally planned the weekend of your visit), please check out new photos on Airbnb. Some folks at Santo Tomas like to use their 4WD SUVs to ferry seniors and heavier gear down to the beach, but that necessitates tire decompression for sand driving and then an air compressor for re-inflation: not a bad system, but just be prepared. The small markets in the village definitely have limited choices, just basic supplies (definitely not Whole Foods or Trader Joe's!). We advise people to bring lots of their food supplies or stop in Puerto Penasco on the way down. There are a few excellent grocery stores just beyond the turnoff to Santo Tomas/Caborca in Penasco. The house has lots of spices for all to use, too.
