This house was a wonderful spot for our family of 2 adults and 3 kids. Very close to our favorite place in Oaxaca, parque el llano. Also very easy to walk to Santo Domingo, zocalo, Mercados. Fantastic location. The house was very clean with cool art. The AC units were very helpful at night. Eddie was very responsive and a great host.

Great place to stay and very comfortable for my whole family. Convenient location and Eddie was always responsive and proactive - providing recommendations or advice and welcoming us. A wonderful place to stay! My only warning: there’s a restaurant / bar nearby that often plays music late. The house is insulated but you’ll still hear it at night so fair warning to light sleepers!

Everything was fine, no problems, excellent communication and location of the house. The only issue we often struggled with was that motorcycles (belonging to the employees next door) were parked very close, blocking the parking space, since the parking is outside on the street (a safe area but very busy). It's a real challenge to maneuver, and even more so to ask for help to move. Please consider this if you have a large car like we do. The house itself was perfect.

The house was amazing - spacious, clean, and fully stocked kitchen! We are a family of five with three kids under 5 yrs old, and we found the house very comfortable and safe. It’s in a great location - walking distance to the zócalo, many bars and restaurants, and beautiful and lively parks. It’s also super convenient to have the a small shopping center next door with restaurants, quick groceries, and laundry. Eddie was a great host who made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed, including personalized recommendations for our family during the World Cup and Guelaguetza! We would love to stay here again next time we are in Oaxaca!

Excellent option to go with the family. The house is beautiful, with many details, beautiful decoration and super clean. We felt at home. The location is unbeatable, close to everything. This is the place to stay in Oaxaca! The house and the location are wonderful. It was very private even though it’s right in the center of everything we could want. We loved that the property is next door to a variety of restaurants and stores. It was very convenient to have a grocery store so close, with other places like the gourmet pizzeria and Agavera for drinks! We brought ear plugs based on the reviews so the noise wasn’t an issue for us, we enjoyed the live music that filtered through from the businesses close by. The air conditioning in the bedrooms is perfect for cool sleeping and the decor is beautiful, inside and out. When I come back to Oaxaca I will definitely hope to stay at Casa Sheela. We tried the restaurants Casa Oaxaca and Copal based on our host’s recommendations and both meals were extraordinary! Our week was super busy as we wanted to explore and experience the many wonderful things to see and do. Don’t miss the chance to call Matia and have a massage!

Such a beautiful location! It feels extremely private, but you are close to almost everything. The store is close, amazing restaurants next door and close to the main town for shopping and some Michelin Star restaurants! Highly recommend staying here!

Eddie’s place was exactly as described—if anything, even better. The location is truly incredible, right in the heart of Oaxaca and easily walkable to everything: restaurants, cafés, markets, all the key spots in the city, and even the business meetings I had to attend. It made the entire experience seamless and enjoyable. I stay in many Airbnbs throughout the year, and I can confidently say Eddie is one of the best hosts I’ve ever had. He was extremely accommodating, flexible, and responsive, making sure everything was smooth from start to finish. Overall, a fantastic stay. We had a fantastic stay at Casa Sheela! The home is in a great location in Central close to amazing restaurants, shopping and museums. The outdoor space was such a treat - there is a massage table in the back and we were able to coordinate a masseuse to come to the home! Eddie was an incredible host - quick to communicate and had recommendations on the best things to do and eat in Oaxaca to make the most of our time there. When we needed to book an early morning taxi, he knew who to connect us with in order to confirm hassle free travel to the airport at the end of our trip. We look forward to staying here again!!

Casa Sheela was amazing! The location was perfect for walking to everything in central Oaxaca. Very close to great restaurants and shopping. The patio is gorgeous! We loved just hanging out on the patio together after a busy day sightseeing. The house was well-appointed and comfortable for 6 adults. so close to the action and yet so quiet and convenient. restaurants, grocery, drycleaners all within 1 minute. the courtyards were amazing. beds were comfortable. kitchen had everything we needed. such a beautiful place and would stay there time and time again.

We had a wonderful week-long stay at Eddie's home in Oaxaca Centro. The house itself is spacious, interesting, and eclectic...not just a cookie-cutter place. We especially loved the private outdoor spaces (not a single window of another home looks into either the front or back patio spaces) and all the plants and flowers. It really was an urban oasis! The house location is exceptional, right in the middle of things with lots of restaurants, bars and shops close by, and a pleasant short walk down to the Zócalo which is always lively and interesting. Several reviews have mentioned noise; it being an urban location, city sounds are inevitable but we were not bothered in the least. (Light sleepers might pack earplugs.) Eddie was always responsive and full of local recommendations including restaurants, bars, and touring options in the region. Excellent, excellent stay.

Casa Sheela is a true gem. The location is superb; restaurants, parks, shopping and everything in Oaxaca City is readily accessible. Taxis are readily available for visits outside the urban area. The house itself is very comfortable and pleasant. The gardens and outdoor areas are a beautiful sanctuary in the city. The house was supplied with plenty of towels, blankets, water and other supplies; when we needed more for our 12-day stay, Eddie responded most promptly and provided everything we needed. We had an issue with check-in, but Eddie responded and resolved the problem quickly. The issue was one that couldn't have been prevented but the response was immediate. Eddie's recommendations for local sites and restaurants introduced us to some new favorites. I hope we'll be able to return to Casa Sheela on a future trip to Oaxaca -- we found it to be a delightful home away from home, to explore this wonderful city.

I really enjoyed my stay at Eddie’s place. The kitchen and bathrooms had everything needed. Something I found particularly unique and lovely was that there was rainbow on the floor outside my bedroom door each morning created by light shining through a window in the bathroom. The location was really great and everything was within walking distance. Eddie was always quick to respond to answer questions and provide recommendations. We were close to wonderful restaurants and next-door to a beautiful mall that had a health food store, yoga studio, bakery, and a grocer, which made shopping super easy. It also has a wonderful roof top restaurant with a panoramic view of the surrounding Sierra Madres. I do, however, recommend packing ear plugs if you are sensitive to late night noises coming from this very same restaurant, especially if you happen to be sleeping in the orange bedroom that faces the mall. To sum up, I was very happy with our choice and highly recommend Eddie’s place.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. It was wonderful! Great location - close to everything you could need. The parking spot right in front of the house was so convenient. The house was amazing. Lots of space to relax Really enjoyed all the outdoor spaces. The kitchen was very well stocked with good quality essentials. Cooked a couple meals and it had everything we needed to do so. Eddie was very responsive. Check in/out was a breeze. Would highly recommend this place.

Casa Sheela is a dream. If you are traveling with several people, each has a retreat, 3 terraces invite you to linger, the large kitchen is a pleasure for all cooking enthusiasts. Eddie was always immediately available and answered any questions courteously. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Eddie's listing is spacious, beautiful, and architecturally interesting. The paintings, prints, and ceramics were tasteful, with local crafts and decor througout. We were two couples, but the place would be very comfortable for 3. The shower upstairs is beautiful with a great view and is private at the same. We loved the little porch attached to it. The house is just inside the Oaxaca tourist "bubble" making it easy to explore nearby, less touristy areas like the Mercado de la Merced. This is the perfect location for the uninitiated who are hoping to come back and know the lay of the land.

An amazingly designed and decorated property - definitely added an artistic and thoughtful touch to our stay in Oaxaca. The house is close to everything, yet tucked away enough to get some privacy and quietness. Eddie was very communicative, accommodating and helpful. Our stay at Eddie’s place was great! The pictures don’t do this place justice. Amazing space and spectacular location. Just an FYI, since you’re so close from the city center specifically, Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán. That area is very lively. Always something going on. On the weekend you can hear music being played until pretty late but that would not stop me from staying again. I will definitely stay here again when I visit the city again.

We had an amazing stay at Casa Sheela! Eddie was such a great host, super attentive and easy to communicate with. The place was cozy and comfortable, and the beds were great. The location couldn’t have been better. Everything was within walking distance, including great restaurants and local attractions. Having a market and laundry service right next door was so convenient. It can get a little noisy in the early mornings and late evenings, but that’s pretty common for the area, and things quiet down around 9:30 p.m. We really enjoyed our stay and would absolutely book here again without hesitation!

We ended up having a second Airbnb for a significantly larger group in the rest of our time in Oaxaca, but we really wished we could have stayed in Casa Sheela the rest of the time. He provided a complimentary water jug, recommendations, the house was unique and homey and had interesting art work. The neighborhood was extremely walkable and so close to everything we needed. We also felt extremely safe with all the security of the street entrance and house entrance bolts. Overall, very lucky to have found this house!

We had a great stay! The house is beautiful, super spacious, and in an awesome location — tons to do nearby and just a quick 5–10 minute walk to the main area. Eddie was so communicative and made check-in and check-out really easy. We also loved the list of restaurants and activities he shared! Only thing to note is that since the house is right on a main street, you can hear some traffic, construction, and dogs from the primary bedroom. But overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a walkable place close to everything.

Had a wonderful time in the house. The house is a nice place in a super place in the city, everything within walking distance. Kitchen is well equipped with stuff. Bathrooms idem. It is indeed noisy, not until late on weekdays, on Saturday it was until late. We didn't mind because we knew from the ad. Eddie is a very good host, gave a lot of tips and responded immediately. Eddie's property is very nice, very well maintained, and very close to museums, restaurants, and downtown Oaxaca. We specially liked the peaceful front patio surrounded by typical (to Oaxaca) plants. Our family had a great stay at Eddie's home. The house was such a rare find right so near the center of town. There are many nice businesses and restaurants within the block, including a grocery store right next door. And El Centro is just a few blocks away. It was easy walking distance from all the places we wanted to visit in town. The house itself is very comfortable and spacious - with two great outdoor spaces for sitting, eating, relaxing together. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Eddie was super helpful with information and recommendations and very responsive on the messaging app. Because it sits right in town, there is some noise from the street and local businesses so bring earplugs if you are sensitive. But it really wasn't an issue for us. We'd love to stay again.

Can’t say enough about this lovely space in Oaxaca centro. One block from the Santa Domingo but on the quiet side. Stroll to the Zocolo and take in all of the sights along the way. Spacious yet cozy and comfortable. Immaculately clean and relaxing outside spaces. Good water pressure and hot showers. Next door to a little strip mall with a market, veggie restaurant, rooftop bar, restaurant, shops. Across the street from a gelato shop. Book immediately and marvel in all that Oaxaca has to offer!

Our stay here was amazing! Great location, we easily walked to everything we wanted to do. Next to a mixed use complex with lots of bars, cafes, restaurants and a convenience/grocery store. None of us thought there was too much noise at any point during our stay. The place was very clean and somehow nicer in person, decorated very nicely and we enjoyed looking at all the plants! Would recommend to friends and family, and would stay here again!

Our group really enjoyed the house! It is extremely walkable to tons of restaurants and other spots. For those reading the reviews about the noise around the house - we stayed over a weekend and could hear some of the music from the neighboring restaurant, but it stopped fairly early and did not bother us. I'm a light sleeper and was able to sleep perfectly! Beautiful outdoor spaces to spend time. AC units worked well. A great place to stay as a group!

We loved staying at casa Sheela. The home is lovely. It’s spacious and perfect for a family of four. It’s well decorated and clean. We enjoyed the special outdoor spaces this home provided to take breaks during the day. As a host Eddie was very accommodating and an exceptional communicator. He reached out several times to us during our stay and responded very quickly to all our questions. The location was perfect to us. We wanted the convenience of being located at the center of Oaxaca so we could walk everywhere and we understood this meant more sounds and noise (music and cars) at night. It didn’t bother us that much and we all slept and rested well. We highly recommend this place and we will definitely stay here again if we return to Oaxaca.

Eddie and family are marvelous, responsive, and kind. This is an amazing location, nearby to many cafes, restaurants, and main attractions. Road noise was not bothersome. House is exactly as pictured and well equipped for the whole family. Newly added massage station in the back patio with excellent privacy, easy to book appointments by text, and Marcia is a magnificent person. Edrel is a kind young man and also offers many helpful recommendations. There is honestly no need to look further - great stay for new or regular visitors to Oaxaca!

Staying at Eddie’s Place was so easy. Eddie was attentive, had great instructions and suggestions. The house was as described. The front and back outdoor seating areas were especially lovely. The house was spotless- even smelled clean! Kitchen had everything needed to cook- but so many great restaurants in Oaxaca - why cook!! We would definitely book Eddie’s again. Things to keep in mind: - 3 bedrooms and one bath are upstairs with the 2nd bath on the first floor. Non- issue for us. Stairs are well lighted, so up and down at night was not a problem. - The house is next door to “Casa Barro” a small mall with a little grocery store, some restaurants and a roof top bar with an amazing view of the city. Definitely go to the bar for the view!! The bar does get to rocking at night especially on the weekends and is loud. If you are a family with young children- bring a white sound machine and earplugs. The city does have noise ordinances and the music was off at 10pm.

What an amazing place and great location! We were so close to the market and downtown, yet the street felt safe and relatively quiet. The rooftop restaurant/bar next door was both delicious and convenient. Eddie was so quick to respond to any inquiries and gave us many recommendations throughout our stay. We rented a car for our last couple of days and it was very easy and convenient to park out front on the street. We hope to visit Oaxaca City again and would love to stay at Eddie’s place again!

I can't say enough good things about Casa Sheela. My husband and I were traveling with our 1 year old and 3 year old and had a wonderful time. If you're a young family this is a great find as it's big and spacious with 3 bedrooms and multiple floors, but still walkable to Santo Domingo, city center, and local parks. There are many restaurants, cafes, bars and artisan shops within walking distance. We enjoyed the organic market with its food stalls. It's also close to many conveniences -- there is a laundry service, car rental shop, and small grocery store next door. The space is as pictured, and you can be self sufficient if you'd like to cook. The only downside is that it's a bit loud -- there's music you can hear from the restaurant next door and a lot of road noise. We were traveling with noise machines for our young kids, so it was fine, but if you're noise sensitive this may be a small inconvenience. Eddie went out of his way to help us have a great stay and was communicative.

We’ve rented many places in Oaxaca over the last 5-6 years and this was by far our favorite! The two different sitting areas, front and back, were perfect for our large group of six - we found both quiet space to sit individually, and space to gather together and share news of our adventures each day. The bedrooms were spacious and beds very comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with everything needed, from cooking supplies in the fridge and cupboards to all sorts of pots & pans for cooking. Location was ideal - close to two big parks for walks in the evening, and just a block off the pedestrian-only street to the Zocalo and markets. Eddie communicated rapidly and generously. And oh! The potted plants everywhere are lovely & well cared for. This was an A+++++ rental!

My stay at Casa Sheela was an exceptional experience. This house is a true gem, simple but decorated and remodeled with exquisite taste. It combines modern hotel amenities, like its elegant bathrooms, with charming local style. One of the highlights are its multiple areas of coexistence: terraces, patios and a cozy room in a perfectly harmonized space. The garden is impeccably maintained, creating a quiet and serene atmosphere. The kitchen is fully equipped, which facilitated our stay, and a unique detail was the designated area and ready for massages. The massage therapist recommended in the informative triptych of the house, Marcia, offers exceptional service. Their professionalism and skill are superior to those I have experienced in spas, and all this at a fair price. Definitely worth every penny, and I plan to return in the future. We can’t say enough positive things about Eddie’s place, just as every review before ours! Our little family traveled all over Mexico before landing here and this was by far the easiest house to get into with the best accommodations. Most importantly were the recommendations that Eddie shared! He gives entire days planned out and has a spreadsheet of favorites restaurants, bars, coffee shops, taxi companies, tour guides and geographic destinations. He was always quick to respond and we appreciated that so much. The house is better than described and you should look no further!

We loved our stay. There was so much space for our family. We loved the outside spaces and the neighborhood. We really appreciated the water cooler, which made the trip better because we weren’t buying bottled water constantly. The neighborhood is fantastic, with so many wonderful restaurants and museums all walking distance. Also really helpful is the upscale and tasteful shopping complex right next door. You wouldn’t notice the shopping complex at first, which is kinda amazing, but you can get grocery essentials, shop, fantastic laundry service and many restaurant choices which is really helpful as a traveler.

Eddie was really helpful and let us drop our bags off early and retime for checkin. He gave lots of good recommendations and was quick to help us when needed. The place was quieter than expected with the perk of being right in centro!

This is a great place for a bigger family or in our case if you want more room. I love the fact that each room has AC this is a must as Oaxaca is hot. The location is ideal you step out and you can grab a cab or walk a couple blocks and you’re in the downtown area. This place is next to several restaurants, so you will hear some music/noise at night. We definitely took advantage of the recommendations and we were not disappointed. Overall my stay here was great. Amazing host that’s quick to respond. The Oaxaca team the host has is also helpful.

Excellent place for a family vacation

Our stay was absolutely fantastic. We wish we could’ve stayed longer. We will definitely stay again. It’s the perfect location… close to everything but still private . great outdoor spaces as well. Very helpful on-site management was super friendly and accommodating.

Eddies place was great. We stayed with 2 young kids. It was close to everything in El Centro (aside from the Zocalo), little market and quick dinning options next store. It was also in a generally quiet part of town which was nice, although there was some construction happening around but that was pretty common everywhere in the city. I’d definitely stay again.

This place easily has everything you can ask for: prime location, very clean, beautiful house, lots of linens, no water problems, AC, everything is within walking distance and it is located right next to a complex with bars and restaurants yet is is very quiet. Everything at this air bnb was great. We were a group of 4 and felt entirely at home and comfortable. There were great areas inside and outside to hang out. The place was clean, quiet, and the beds extremely comfortable. Eddie was incredibly responsive to questions and helped us figure out restaurants and other fun things to check out. Highly recommend staying here!

This place is literally closed to everything we wanted to do in Oaxaca and it has A/C!

Eddie was an amazing host. He helped us coordinate activities, getting in early and even called a taxi for us to get to the airport! The place was incredibly equipped and well cared for. There was drinking water and coffee provided, air conditioning in all rooms and even Netflix, which our kids appreciated. The outdoor spaces were really inviting and beautiful. He obviously takes pride in providing a positive experience for his guests. There were restaurants and cafes right next store and a convenient store, only 3 minutes away. We loved this place and experience! One of our best yet!

Casa Sheela was a perfect location for exploring Oaxaca. We considered staying in Reforma neighborhood. Very glad we decided to stay in Centro.  Eddie’s place was close to restaurants, craft, breweries, live music, and all the cultural sites of Oaxaca.  Eddie was a fantastic host, providing lots of great recommendations before our trip and during our trip. Casa Sheela outdoor space was a great sanctuary in the afternoons to rest and refresh before going out in the evenings.

Eddie’s place is really lovely and it was perfect for our family. It is on a quiet street right in the center. We could walk to everything. It was clean and comfortable. I highly recommend staying there!

Great location with nice outdoor space and good accommodations. Close to great restaurants, bars and historic sites. Eddie was super helpful in providing good suggestions for outings and restaurants/bars. We would definitely come back.

The house is delightful - attractively furnished - lovely outdoor seating areas with wonderful plants. Right next door to good restaurants and a small grocery store. The morning after we arrived there was noisy construction in the adjoining house - Eddie resolved the problem extremely quickly and efficiently. One of the bedrooms has a desk. Large bathrooms with good showers. Lots of towels. Really nice to have the large bottled water dispenser, so no need to carry large water containers from the store. Oaxaca is a gem - museum next to church of Santo Domingo is a must - as well as a trip to Monte Alban. Great restaurants - fun shopping. Would certainly go back.

We had a fantastic stay. Eddie was really prompt in communicating to answer our questions or offer helpful suggestions. His home is very well appointed and charming. The front courtyard especially is inviting and restful. I felt like this was an oasis in the city as the neighborhood has a hustle and bustle vibe. The Caso Barra shopping area was very convenient for incidentals, food and laundry. Eddies staff were really helpful. We loved our stay and hope to return next year.

The Casa Sheela Oaxaca, located just north of the Ethnobotanical Garden complex, makes a wonderful base to explore central Oaxaca City, all of which is walkable. With a high wall on the street side of the property, the Casa Sheela provides a private and serene living space, including two outdoor sitting areas. The kitchen is well equipped (although, given the quality of the restaurants in Oaxaca, you may not make a great deal of use of the kitchen). There are full bathrooms on both the first and second floors, and the second-floor bathroom, while private, is flooded with natural light during the day. The three bedrooms on the second floor are quite large and comfortable. The house would work well for a family, or for several couples traveling together. Host Eddie was responsive and helpful, and provided useful suggestions about what to see and do in Oaxaca, as well as an introduction to a good tour guide.

Eddies place was great! I loved how responsive Eddie was and always had lots of recommendations of things for us to do. His place is within walking distance to major sights and restaurants. I would stay here again in the future.

Stay here! So clean, comfortable, as described and pictured and more. Eddie keeps in touch, made us feel at home but is not intrusive. Well stocked kitchen, baths, with all you need. The decor is charming, festive but not cluttered. Home away from home.
