Great house for family time! It’s spacious enough and comfortable. It’s close to horseback riding and zip lining and the Mistico Bridges. The house is rustic with several stairs upon entry but the view from the entry balcony is just lovely. The bathrooms are spacious. The house is kept clean and Ac and dryer worked great! We appreciate the deck of cards and chess board for some fun family time. It’s a peaceful place to relax, but just in case the neighbors rooster decides to wander over have some earplugs. Other wise it’s set in a perfect country side feeling with boating, kayaking or lake shore fun nearby.

The good - house was very private with gorgeous views of the lake. Very open floor plan with lots of room and we truly appreciated the air conditioning. The house had no washcloths, one hand towel for each bathroom and 2 towels for each bathroom. The blankets on the bed were a single couch throw blanket with one extra. I contacted Melissa right away, and when she got back with me she didn’t want to make the 30 minute trip from La Fortuna to accommodate us. The dryer does not even have a plug hooked to it so we couldn’t launder the only towels we had, or our wet clothes. Forget hanging them on the line because it takes 2 days to dry with the rain and overall damp atmosphere. We ended up flying home with a bag full of wet clothes. The hot water didn’t work in master shower. You can’t use the tub. The second shower has electrical to the shower head which began smoking during a shower. After I contacted Melissa, she changed the description of to show they only offer limited items.

Very in the natural accommodation. Beautiful barbecue area. Great view of Lago Arenal and the volcano (if it didn't have any fog). Chickens around the house which crow from 3.30 a.m. Unfortunately, there is no dryer because it is broken. Alternative was late. Dish drying cloths and dish soap were not provided

This was a most beautiful setting. The views of Lake Arenal and the volcanal were spectacular. If you climb to the top of the property (very easy to do as it is open pasture) it is even more beautiful and the volcano is easier to see. The property both inside and out had room for a larger group than the four of us except for sleeping area. There were two queen beds and two bedrooms and also a pullout couch in the living area. The only reason I mention this is the kitchen, living room, outside patios and size of the outdoor area would lend itself to a much larger group than current sleeping arrangements afford. Melissa, our host, was very responsive to questions and problems. One bathrooms hot water was not working and she offered to have it fixed right away. We opted to just use the one bathroom so as not to interrupt our stay. Melissa seemed genuinely interested in making any suggested improvements and was a pleasure to deal with. Great location 20 minutes from La Fortuna.

Fully equipped house, perfect for spending a few days as a couple or family and feeling at home there. Very functional and quite modern, between the balcony, corner to make a fire, open kitchen, two bedrooms and sofa, washing machine, traditional outdoor kitchen (but not used), chickens, the view, the calm, you really feel at home. Even the people of the village who pass through the street greet you by the way! Amazing, one of our favorites from our stay.

Fun place to stay with a wonderful view of the lake! A little off the beaten path, which was very nice. There were chickens up in the morning, so maybe not the best place for sleeping in, but who would want to here :)

The house is very rustic. Comfortable enough, but rustic. It overlooks the lake with a great view. Cute mare horse in the backyard - loves bananas. Overall perfectly comfortable place. If you are expecting a nice updated (US style construction) house, this will not meet your expectations. I think the owner has a fairly accurate description of the house and surroundings. We enjoyed our stay there.

Beautiful little house perfect for a family. view of Lake Arenal. Lots of parrot birds we saw. No reliable internet network and no wifi at home. The lights turn on and turn off all night a little tiring motion detector and we couldn't turn it off. The garage is not accessible. Fully equipped. We didn't really miss anything.

El castillo is a great alternative to the Fortuna business. The casa de Melissa allows you to enjoy Arenal in a quiet and beautiful environment. Cleanliness of the impeccable casa and cherry on the cake, coffee and a box of welcome cookies.
