Luxury suite, pool, AC, b/fast & evening meal

Moved to a different unit for the last 2 nights and can also recommend as in my last review. Staying with Joe and Susannah was a fantastic vacation for my family i recommend staying here if you are planning Drake Bay! Best, JackM.

Southern Drake Lodge is amazing! We loved this place from the moment we arrived. The space itself is gorgeous and comfortable, and the view is spectacular. Bird song and animal life all around. Joe and Sue are perfect hosts. The hospitality, flexibility and assistance with every manner of request is faultless. We extended our stay after getting here and so glad we did. Sorry to be leaving and hope to be back! Big shout out to new chef Maria who, along with Taye, made some wonderful dinners in a very out of the way part of the world!

Outstanding stay in every possible way. Sue and Joe have created an oasis in the jungle. The lodging itself is beautiful and matched the photos but what sets Southern Drakes Lodge apart is the service. We are a family of 5 and never have we felt so taken care of in all our travels. From the moment we booked to when it was time to depart, Sue and Joe took care of every detail from taxis, laundry, tours (thank you Elsa!), amazing meals (Thai and Ellie prepared breakfast and dinner that were as beautiful as they were delicious). Five days was not enough but we all left with a sense of gratitude that we were able to experience the OSA peninsula and stay in such a special place with amazing hosts.

It’s not possible to say enough good things about our stay here, we loved every second. The property has a beautiful jungle view within walking distance of the beach. Joe and Sue were incredible hosts (going above and beyond when we arrived unwell) Incredible food for breakfast and dinner every day! Always fresh and delicious Our rooms were cleaned every day and laundry was provided The hosts were so helpful in helping us arrange our time and activities. I’m so glad we extended our stay to 8 nights to truly enjoy everything drake bay and the property had to offer. Bob, Rio and gala 🐱🐶 were great company around the property. Thank you all for the most wonderful stay.

Ons verblijf bij Joe & Sue was de kers op de taart. Wanneer je dit pareltje tegenkomt : niet twijfelen, maar boeken! De kwaliteit van deze prachtige accomodatie, het eten (Elly is een fantastische chef; we aten hier de beste maaltijden van de reis), de gastvrijheid, de hulp van Sue & Joe, de schattige hondjes Bob & Rio... Dit zagen we nog nergens. Bedankt om onze reis zo mooi te laten eindigen!

Was Sue und Joe hier geschaffen haben ist wirklich beeindruckend! Man fühlt sich gleich willkommen und gut versorgt. Das Hotel und die Appartements sind blitzsauber und sehr gut gepflegt. Das Frühstück und Abendessen sind lecker und sehr zu empfehlen! Hervorzuheben ist die wirklich tolle Kommunikation und Organisation von Sue, die uns die Tour in den Nationalpark organisiert hat. Sue and Joe’s villas/lodge are in a great location with many unique activities. As the villa/lodge owners, both Sue and Joe were always accommodating and willing to help. I cannot say enough about how great the two of them are, and how willing they are to make your stay an incredible experience. Our daughters both needed sun shirts and buffs for extra protection on a snorkeling adventure to Cano Island, and Joe let them use some of his. We had elected to pay extra to have some meals prepared there at the lodge, which were prepared by Joe, and were always excellent. Joe and Sue’s recommendations were always excellent, from the activities to restaurants, and other things to see. I suggest when booking any tours/activities to pay for those using your credit card. Our favorite activity/tour was the waterfall and river tour led by Carlos. Cheers Sue and Joe!

Sue and Jo are wonderful hosts. They were always available both before and during our stay to answer questions, help us plan our visit, arrange for taxis or dinner deliveries. Truly the most responsive hosts we've ever dealt with. They live on the property and know the area and the people who run the outfits well. They introduced us to Elsa who helped organize the excursions. Animals abound on their property and they came to get us anytime they spotted a monkey, an ant eater or particular insect. The apartments are as described, very comfortable and well appointed. We were grateful for the A/c in the bedrooms, the outdoor showers and the sunsets from the balcony were stunning. Lounging by the pool at the end of an adventurous day is a true pleasure. If you stay here you will be in good hands. They made our trip effortless. We recommend staying at their homes wholeheartedly!
