Cabina Harlequin is a container home located in the jungle in the neighborhood Cocles which is 15 minutes from Puerto Viejo. The home is built bordering Rio Negro and neighbors the owner's home on a 3 hectare farm. There are free-range chickens, ducks, and rabbits. The bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor and the kitchen and sitting area are on the second level where you can enjoy farm fresh eggs and coffee watching the birds. There is 100Mbps fiber optic internet for work-ations. The space A 20 foot container has 1 wall knocked out to expand the size of the bedroom. The bathroom is an add-on room off the back of the container which has natural stone tile throughout. The bathroom sink has a live edge wood pedestal (found on the farm). The container doors open up to the heliconia garden. There is a desk inside the cabin with a view of the garden. There is a trundle bed with a queen size mattress for an additional person. The open air kitchen is on the second level. There is a 2 burner induction stove, toaster oven, blender, and refrigerator. There is a hot/cold water dispenser supplied with spring water. There is also a breakfast bar, a hanging chair and sofa on the second level. The cabin is surrounded in trees and a small river so it is a lovely spot to relax and experience life on a jungle farm. Guest access The Harlequin Cabin is located on a farm 2km from the main road with hills. There is covered parking. Other things to note There is a UPS backup of 45 minutes inside the cabin for the router in case of power outages. There is also a gravity rainwater tank available in case of power outages (pump requires power). The water for the cabin is harvested rainwater. There are full house filters and a UV lamp filter that process the water. It is potable and can be used to cook with or wash vegetables. I do prefer the taste of spring water so that is also available in the dispenser. The cabin has a tankless hot water heater. There is a septic treatment plant installed which minimizes your impact to the environment. Please be careful to not flush inorganic waste down the toilet.

I stayed here for 3 unforgettable months and truly felt like I was living in a jungle paradise. The property is a lush, peaceful farm surrounded by nature—cacao trees along a beautiful green river, monkey and toucan families passing by, and stunning jungle views from the upstairs cabin. The host, Tree, and her family were incredibly kind and generous. I was regularly gifted fresh organic eggs, plantains, exotic fruits, and even homemade pine nut hummus made from trees on the land! She always made sure I had clean spring water, and any issue that came up was addressed right away with care. The housekeepers and groundskeepers were equally lovely—just a great, welcoming community. This place is perfect for nature lovers and those seeking a tranquil, off-grid experience. A couple of things to note for future guests: the cabin has friendly cats that love to hang out nearby (and leave their fur as souvenirs!), so if you’re not a cat person, it might not be ideal. Overall, highly recommend!

Tree is without a doubt the best Airbnb host I’ve ever had. My fiancé and I lived in Trees beautiful home for 1 month where I teleworked with no problem. The place is better than the pictures. The open air kitchen is fresh and clean and feels so lovely to be in all times of day. We loved all our furry friends (Mimi will be missed) and the farm fresh eggs were such an added bonus. We did not end up getting a vehicle, we took the 30-40 min walk to grocery store/beach and that worked well for us. This place is a gem and we are eager to return!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Margarita Hills. We felt right at home during our stay. Tree and her pups kindly greeted us upon our late arrival. The fresh fruit was a nice welcoming gift. Her farm fresh eggs were very tasty. She was beyond accommodating and full of suggestions for things to do and tips for getting around the area. The open, yet covered second floor kitchen and living space really made the space special. The grounds were beautifully gardened and it was fun to visit the goats and Tree’s menagerie of birds. Her staff was very friendly and happy to help. Two days was not long enough and we can’t wait to stay here again the next time we’re in the area!

super thanks to the host. it was just amazing, no words... the pictures do not describe how beautiful is the place. the house is so cute and every detail is well thought through. we stayed for 2 nights and I wish I could have stayed longer. the host showed the place, super friendly and showed the red eyed frogs 🐸 that she has in the property , also gave us cacao fruit for our way back. she also gave us her own eggs from the chicken farm she has and cold water. a part of that, the terrasse was super cozy and relaxing... we had one evening rainy weather and we were just relaxing at the hammock and listening the rain. one more thing... it is hard to find a place with hot water in the showers and this property has it.

Staying at Tree’s place was the highlight of our trip! It is so incredibly well built, comfortable, and open to nature. Everything inside was new, clean, and well maintained. The setting was perfect with lots of nature and animals all around. Tree was super flexible with our check-in and had so many great recommendations of things to do while in Puerto Viejo. Plus, she gave us lots of great fruit and nuts and farm fresh eggs! The whole farm is a haven with lots of birds, friendly cats, fun dogs, and happy farm animals. Can’t wait to come back another time!

Stunning woodwork. Home is built with incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail. Spa like bathroom. Awesome kitchen facilities - could not wish for anything that wasn’t provided. Fridge is small so plan your groceries accordingly. There is one significant detail missing from description that was only disclosed in checkin instructions. Tree has rescued 10 dogs who you share the property with. They were beautiful and sweet animals that we enjoyed visiting with. During our stay they barked (as dogs do) intermittently both day and night. Fortunately we travel with earplugs which were required. Very attentive and friendly host.
