Hi, I'm Ron, the proud owner of Casa Barracuda. I'm originally from Buenaventura, California, but I can't wait to return to Costa Rica! By the way, tourists can stay in Costa Rica for up to six months—feel free to look it up. The house is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. If you require anything, just ask our cohost Jeff, who has 30 years of experience living in Costa Rica.

The Space

Casa Barracuda is a luxurious 3-bedroom beachfront home situated on one-third of an acre, just under 30 steps from the soft sands and popular surf of Playa Hermosa de Garabito, Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

Playa Hermosa is known for its relaxing atmosphere, yet it’s only a 10-minute drive to the vibrant services and excitement of Jaco. This area attracts families, solo surfers, and has recently become a favored destination for weddings, honeymoons, and babymoons.

The home features a modern kitchen equipped with:

• Stainless steel appliances
• Granite countertops
• Custom Costa Rican hardwood cabinets
• Whirlpool double-door refrigerator with an ice maker
• Dishwasher
• Granite breakfast bar with hardwood stools

Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry area with a full-size washer and dryer, which can be closed off with a folding curtain.

The great room offers stunning ocean views from every angle thanks to double sliding glass doors. It includes:

• High-speed wireless internet
• Samsung 50” HD TV with streaming options and Blu-ray/DVD player
• Glass-top dining table seating up to eight guests with cushioned chairs
• Two overstuffed chairs and a comfortable three-seat sofa overlooking the private free-form pool

For fitness enthusiasts, there is an exercise bike positioned by a window with a view of the pool and outdoor table.

Outside, you’ll find beautifully landscaped grounds with tall palm and almond trees that attract colorful macaws. Friendly iguanas often entertain guests as they scavenge for table scraps and fruit skins. The manicured front and back yards provide plenty of space for fun or privacy, and fruit trees will soon be bearing produce.

Casa Barracuda also boasts a large covered terrace and an upstairs pool deck offering fantastic views where you can relax on a hammock or one of the many comfortable seating options. Outdoor amenities include:

• Dining table for four for alfresco meals
• Four additional comfortable plastic chairs for flexible seating
• Recently purchased gas grill facing the ocean

The spacious 2,500 square foot (232 m²) home has three bedrooms:

• Master bedroom with a king-size bed, 100% cotton sheets, quality pillows, an upgraded ensuite bathroom with shower, walk-in closet, and a wall safe
• Two other bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a twin bed, sharing a bathroom with a shower and ample storage

Location

Playa Hermosa, meaning "Beautiful Beach," is a world-renowned surfing spot. In May 2022, it was designated Central America’s first World Surf Reserve. You don’t have to be a surfer to appreciate this beach. Having lived nearby for 18 years, I enjoyed peaceful walks along the shore, especially at low tide, which is ideal for families with children.

The beach is usually quiet compared to Jaco, except when the waves are great and surfers arrive. The sunsets here are famous and can be enjoyed from Casa Barracuda’s second-floor deck or by walking north to the beachfront restaurant Vida Hermosa, about 25 minutes away.

The surf break is one of the most consistent in Central America and hosts many local competitions. The best surfing conditions coincide with the nesting season of Olive Ridley sea turtles, which occurs from June to November.

About the Host and Rental Manager

Jeff Fisher, the Barracuda Rental Manager, has 30 years of experience living in Costa Rica. For availability and possible discounts, feel free to contact him. The quoted price is based on accommodating eight guests, with two queen beds, two individual beds, and one king bed.

Jeff has worked in real estate for 26 years, including 18 years in the Central Pacific region, which is his favorite part of Costa Rica. He can assist you in finding the perfect place within your budget and is happy to answer any questions to make your vacation smooth and enjoyable.

Guest Access

Guests are welcome to enjoy the ocean views from the recently built viewing deck ("mirador") located next to the upstairs apartment.

Other Notes

Please use the outdoor shower located on the northern side of the house. It’s refreshing and helps keep sand outside, preventing it from getting on the floors and beds. Your cooperation in keeping sand out is greatly appreciated by both the hosts and the local iguanas!
