Staying at Sandra’s was an exciting adventure from the moment of being picked up by private boat in Panajachel for my first time at Lake Atitlan. Some of my favorite things to do were swimming off the dock, and looking up at Chuk Chuk (volcan San Pedro) sitting proudly behind and above the house. Also, seeing the hummingbirds in the garden, getting to know the cats, and the neighbors dogs were fun. Was also fascinated by how many different shades of blue the water can be at any given moment on the lake. However, the most special experiences were taking to the boat to Santiago with Nico; grocery shopping. I got to meet the Tzʼutujil Mayans in their village and spend time with the community of Santiago. These interactions were always heartfelt and touching. We enjoyed learning from one another and it was a real honor to have these experiences. In conclusion, the house is beautiful, modern, secluded, and has something to offer everyone. Puro Utz!
