We loved our stay on our own little island. it was very peaceful and the scenery was spectacular, an absolute must for bird and view lovers. The hosts were very helpful and responded to all questions very professionally and promptly. Thank you all for a wonderful time.

Wow! The pictures didn't do this spot justice. A true paradise. Clean, spacious, quiet and relaxing. Dips in the pool, naps in the many hammocks (Charlie thinks the one under the thatch roof was a little out of balance but that's where he napped most. Spotless too. Captain Richard and his wife were there every morning to tidy and primp. The flowers were in bloom and just beautiful. We will be back and recommend to friends. Thank you Franco!

This location is amazing, and the communication was good. We appreciated being picked up in Granada. Having Richard across the way to help out was also reassuring, and he does a good job of keeping up the grounds outside. The grounds are lovely, and we really enjoyed relaxing there. However, the inside of the accommodations was disappointing. There were visible stains on curtains, rugs, and pillows. There was toothpaste splattered on the bathroom walls. The shower curtain was moldy, and the refrigerator smelled bad. Some of the kitchen supplies were dirty as well. The worst was the teapot, which when we opened it, was crawling with 10+ roaches. We understood that it might be more difficult to clean these more remote locations, especially since they aren’t always occupied, but for the price (which also didn’t include boat fare), it’s just not up to expected standards of cleanliness. It would have also been good to know there is no hot water anywhere, even the jacuzzi. We did have an issue with mosquitoes in the evening, but that might vary by season. We had a good time by staying outside as much as possible, but it’s rustic at best — it might be okay at a much lower price.

In case there's any doubt, this is an actual island home, the sole occupant of a tiny lake island that is part of a small island chain in a sheltered bay southeast of the city of Granada. There are a bunch of other little islands around, with homes or tiny resorts on them, and everyone travels by boat around and between them -- from locals just getting around, to tour boats, to a procession of very cute school boats loaded with kids passing back and forth every week day. The groundskeepers, a husband and wife pair, live on another island just across a small channel, and boat over every morning to take care of the place. They only speak Spanish, but a few common words and Google Translate got us over any barriers, and they were very nice folks. They ran a ferry boat to take us to and from the dock, for a modest fee. The dock was about 15 minutes south of Granada, and the ferry ride from there is about 25 minutes, so if you want to go into town, it's a bit of an excursion. The home is very separate from everything. There is power and water, but no internet; I relied on cellular data while I was there, but even the local LTE service wasn't very fast. (Good enough for e-mail, but only low-res streaming.) . So, bring your own entertainment. There's a paddle boat for touring around the local islands, and fishing gear -- though I'd *thoroughly* cook anything you catch. Fresh, drinkable water is provided. The home is very reminiscent of a rustic mountain cabin, all hardwood and peaked ceilings, with a queen sized bed in one room and a set of bunk beds in the other. There are fans in the living room, and A/C in the living room and bedrooms -- we were encouraged to only run it at night, but that's about the only time you'd want it, thanks to the regular lake breezes. There is no hot water, so showers and the jacuzzi are both cool -- which can be pleasant, given the ambient warmth. I was surprised to find almost no mosquitos, maybe 3 in the 11 days I was there; I think they prefer still water, and the lake was constantly in motion. The trees dropped excellent mangos the whole time we were there, and I was told there might be almonds, though I didn't spot any. The kitchen has a wide selection of basic equipment, and you can fix most standard meals in it. Be sure to stock up on groceries before you go to the island, as there's nothing but fish and mangos at the island itself. :-) The island is super quiet; sometimes there's a motorboat passing by, and sometimes a barking dog from a nearby island, but mostly it's just wind and waves and bird song, and the occasional distant howler monkey. It's a very peaceful place to just hang out in the...

Una de Leon is a magical place to relax for a few days. The island is beautiful with lots of nice seating areas outside and stunning views over the lake and other isletas. We enjoyed the outdoor spa and taking a trip round neighouring isletas in the pedalo. The caretaker, Richard was extremely helpful. He picked us up from the mainland in his boat and came with his wife every day to clean the island. He also brought us some fresh fish and BBQ fuel so we could have an excellent dinner. I would highly recommend staying here as an add on to a trip to Granada

Absolutely loved everything about it!! My family and I had the best, most relaxing days in the island! Loved the strolls in the pedal boat, my boys fished from the island and the boat, loved the fruit, the birds everywhere, the local way of life. Simply some of the most enjoyable days! Suited every single one of us! The weather was as pleasant as it gets with warmth and always a breeze, just dreamy.

The place was amazing and the boat service that the hosts provided was very punctual and friendly! Only thing that was difficult was getting to the marina because none of the cab drivers knew where it was, so grabbing a map would be helpful! Otherwise, incredible experience.

Beautyful Island which is a ***** location. The outside area was really fantastic and we spent much time hanging out in the garden and sitting in well made garden furnitures, sailing the pedalboat, fishing and swimming in the jacuzzi. Inside the beds were clean and nice with a towel on top. The kitchen works in its rustic way. There is a newer fridge and a new gas stove. The owner soon needs to check up on the house. It's a good location, but inside it's a special experience and it's too worn out compared to the price. We really tried thinking the many private items, the dirt and the rusticness as part of the charm, but in the end we looked forward to getting away. My daugther was close to injuries when the sink fell from the wall as she washed her hands. Water all over the place and it was clear, that water has been going from the first floor bathroom and down before. The caretaker neighbour, Richard, is pure gold and was really helpful. Very charming Island, but NOT worth the price. Maybe good for young people but really not family friendly/ready. We had trouble finding transportation from the mainland. Franco and Cristian had descriped how to get to the port where the neighbour should pick us up. Embarcadero los Cruz was really hard finding and the taxi driver could not find it and asked many locals. So for future guests you should find SURANT BOAT Nicaragua in Google Maps, South from All the islettas.
