Luxury 4BR villa in Santa Teresa’s gated eco-community offers stunning ocean views, tropical architecture, and wildlife encounters just steps from surf. Perfect for groups seeking privacy and natural beauty.
The Space
Casazul is a fully equipped luxury villa located in "The Bosque" area of Mar-A-Mar, Santa Teresa's exclusive private gated eco-community. Perched on a hilltop, the villa offers spectacular ocean views stretching from Santa Teresa to Cabo Blanco, with the renowned surf break directly in front. Surrounded by tropical forest, the property is home to diverse wildlife such as howler monkeys, iguanas, squirrels, and numerous bird species.
The villa's tropical architecture is thoughtfully designed to provide excellent natural ventilation, allowing comfortable outdoor living in all weather conditions. Panoramic windows and expansive balconies invite fresh ocean breezes and create an elegant marine atmosphere. For guests who prefer, the house is also fully air-conditioned.
The main level features an open-plan kitchen and living room, a large covered balcony, and one master suite with an ensuite bathroom. One floor below, there is a second master suite with an ensuite bathroom, plus two additional bedrooms sharing a third bathroom. One bedroom contains twin bunk beds, while the other has a king-size bed and a single pull-out bed. The lowest level, accessible via an exterior staircase, includes a single bedroom with a private bathroom, ideal for a nanny or extra guest; this room is equipped with a ceiling fan only.
The villa accommodates up to 10 guests, making it perfect for families or groups.
Location
Casazul is situated midway up the Mar-A-Mar hill, offering breathtaking views of the coastline. The community provides 24/7 security, free parking, and access to a swimming pool.
To fully enjoy the natural surroundings and attractions of Santa Teresa, renting a vehicle such as an ATV, Rhino, or 4x4 car is recommended. During the dry season, a regular car may suffice, but a 4x4 is ideal for exploring the area. From the parking area, guests must walk approximately 50 meters, including eight steps, to reach the house. The main living area and one master suite are on the entrance level, with a wide spiral staircase leading down to the other bedrooms.

Wildlife and Environment
Guests can expect to encounter local wildlife such as howler and white-faced monkeys, iguanas, and raccoons in their natural habitat near the villa. Being in a tropical environment, harmless insects like ants, cockroaches, and geckos may be seen, especially during the rainy season. This is normal and does not reflect on the cleanliness of the property.
Additional Notes
- Power outages are common in Santa Teresa and may occur during your stay; this is typical for the area.
- The region experiences an average annual relative humidity of 74%, with highs up to 87% in October and lows around 71% in February. Due to this humidity, drying clothes can take longer, particularly during the rainy season. This is a normal aspect of the local climate.

We loved our stay in Casa Azul! Fiona was very friendly and helpful. She met us in person at check-in and was available throughout giving us great recommendations for a surf instructor and for a nearby nature preserve. The climb up is very steep so renting a car with 4 wheel drive as they recommend is a must. We walked down and back up on foot a couple times for the exercise, but most of the time we used our car to get down since the climb was not easy. We really enjoyed relaxing in the balcony surrounded by nature. The views were amazing and we got to see so many beautiful birds and even a family of monkeys. It was truly paradise.

A great Airbnb to stay at in Santa Teresa!! Would definitely go back. The view and deck are amazing. The house is in a nice part of town and the beach nearby (beach access by Ani's bowls) is very pretty and a great vibe at sunset. Kitchen is well stocked. Fiona the property manager is very responsive and helpful - she helped us organize transport and ATVs while in town. Also I know several reviews mention this, but it's absolutely essential to have a car or ATV to access this place. The hill is only good for a workout but should not be attempted at midday!!

I wanted to love this house so bad but it just wasn’t as amazing as I thought it would be. Did not expect such an intense driveway. They really aren’t kidding when they say you need a strong 4x4 vehicle. And expect quite the hike to get to the house itself. I could see someone that has issues with balance or difficulty walking not being able to make it to the house. A few other issues were that there was no microwave and that the rugs are super slippery. My niece slipped walking on one of the rugs and everyone else had a few close calls. Some positives were that the beds were comfortable and great wifi! Overall it was okay but I don’t think I would return

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Azul with our family. Fiona was an absolute gem and was great at communicating and helping us arrange activities/providing recommendations. She greatly enhanced the experience. We enjoyed monkey, bird, coatimundi, iguana and squirrel sightings from the deck. Sunsets were stunning as well. As many have noted, the road up is very steep and may present accessibility issues for some. In addition, the pool is located at the bottom of the hill, and we were unable to get down there with our kids (ages 4 and 6) without a vehicle.

The house was an okay/decent place to stay at. It’s big and has everything you need, including filtered water. However, there were some things that didn’t quite make sense.. - the tv was only in the master bedroom and not living room - no hooks to hang towels to dry - no full length mirror - lots of bugs stuck in bathroom ceilings - no real blankets, just a top sheet - pool is not at the house, but rather at the bottom of the hill (and is a public pool)

Great place, albeit you really need to hire an ATV/car to access up and down the steep hill. It’s quite a walk if you just need to pop out to fetch supplies etc but a superb home and beautiful views and setting as well as Fiona who was super helpful and always responsive.
