The Space
Welcome to Casa Marimba, a calm and welcoming guesthouse on Apoyo Lagoon. The property has five rooms in total; this listing is for the Mombacho Room, our most spacious and beautifully appointed accommodation.
Designed like a family apartment, the suite includes:
- Two separate rooms
- One king-size bed
- One double bed
- One single bed
- One private bathroom
- A private terrace with an impressive view of the lagoon
Guests can enjoy several relaxation areas throughout the property, including hammocks and deck chairs positioned along the lagoon’s edge.
Lagoon Access and Activities
Casa Marimba has private access to the lagoon directly from the guesthouse. Because Apoyo Lagoon formed inside an ancient volcanic crater, its water has inviting temperatures that are ideal for a relaxing swim.
Kayaks are available for exploring the crystal-clear water and surrounding nature. Several diving opportunities can also be found near Casa Marimba, offering the chance to observe the local flora and fauna.

Our restaurant serves French-Nicaraguan cuisine prepared with fresh, local, organic ingredients for lunch and dinner.

Additional Information
- Air conditioning is available for an additional $10 per night.
- Guests are asked to respect one another by keeping noise to a minimum after 8:30 p.m.

Great stay overall. The place was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, and easy to find. Check-in was smooth with clear instructions, and the host was responsive throughout. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Casa Marimba!! The location is absolutely a dream, right next to the water, and very private. The grounds are extremely well kept, and there was never an issue finding a lovely, peaceful place to spend our time. The food was so delicious and healthy, and even though the restaurant has hours for certain meals, snacks and drinks are always available. The service was impeccable, with everyone from the front desk and the servers to the kitchen staff and the groundskeepers being very friendly, approachable, and responsive.The room was absolutely lovely, with a balcony,but just know that in our 2-bedrooms, one room had ac and the other one didn't, but my kids didn't seem to mind. The one thing I would recommend is to book your outings through a local company. We had luck with TripNic (tour guide El Tigre) and Nica Up (tour guide Gustavo- really informative!!!) Casa Marimba helped us to find a driver, so we hired Henry for the week, and he was amazing!

This accommodation was lovely. We were welcomed with a free drink which we enjoyed lakeside listening to the waves and the sounds of nature. The service was excellent and our room was spotless. They went above and beyond with little touches like putting fresh flowers in our room. Will be coming back here again.

Beautiful tranquil property but walls are paper thin. You will hear literally everything your neighbors say & do. Found my bed quite hard & uncomfortable. Included breakfast was great & very friendly staff there & grounds keeping does an amazing job. We tried to shorten our stay but could not. I totally understand as we did not try to cancel until shortly after our arrival. Tried to cut our 4 night stay to 2 with no success as we would lose it all & it was pricey. The brightest part of our stay was def the driver they had pick us up at airport Yader he is an absolute gem we travelled to Masya, Grenada & San Juan del Sur with him. He is great fun & full of wonderful tips.The grounds are a garden of eden so enjoy. Its a lovely place but did not suit our group at all Also finding a scorpion in bathroom was something we wont soon forget!

We came as a family of 4 people and loved everything about our stay. Nice staff, delicious food but most of all, the magical place with always warm water for swimming. We arrived later in the evening and they even saved dinner for us. I needed to teach a class while there and the receptionist let me use one of the empty rooms. Everyone went far and beyond to make everyone feel welcome.
