Modern tropical 5BR villa on two lush acres near Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Enjoy panoramic views, a natural pool, and direct beach access in a serene, wildlife-filled setting.
The Space
Casa Aguinaldo is situated on a two-acre property filled with native trees and abundant wildlife. You can relax on the patio, breathe in the fresh tropical air, and enjoy the refreshing pool that offers panoramic views. The climate provides year-round warmth, allowing you to fully embrace what we call Pura Vida.
Designed with a modern tropical style, the open floor plan features sliding doors that open two walls entirely to the outdoors. The home is just a short walk from a beautiful white sandy beach, which boasts seven surf breaks suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced surfers.
My husband and I designed and built this home in 2012. We first camped on the land to understand its natural flow—the path of the sun and moon, how to best capture the ocean breeze, and the routes of the local howler monkeys. We made a conscious effort to preserve as many indigenous trees as possible, fostering a rich habitat for wildlife.
The surrounding tropical environment offers a natural symphony of sounds, including exotic bird calls, chattering squirrels and iguanas, singing frogs and insects, and, most notably, the howler monkeys.
The home features modern tropical architecture with indigenous hardwood throughout. The open-air living area includes tri-sliding doors that open two walls completely to the outside, providing stunning views of the natural landscape.
The pool is designed with natural rock and turquoise Spanish tile. Inside, an 11-foot single-plank, natural-shaped hardwood dining table seats 12 guests. The island kitchen is equipped with a Tapan-style cooktop and granite countertops. Hardwood floors and ceilings made from indigenous wood extend throughout the second level, complemented by handcrafted wood doors and windows.
There are five bedrooms in total, each with its own balcony. The custom master bathroom includes quartz flooring.
Guest Access
Guests have full access to the entire 3,000-square-foot home, the pool, and the full two-acre property, which features a seasonal creek.
Location and Surroundings
Casa Aguinaldo offers an authentic Costa Rican experience. Unlike gated communities with paved roads that have replaced native flora and fauna, this land and its surroundings are classified as agricultural. We are original pioneers of this area, committed to preserving the natural environment and living in harmony with nature.

I can’t recommend casa aguinaldo and Jennifer enough. We stayed for a month with our family of 4, working part of the time. Jennifer and I connected ahead of time to ensure internet would work for our zoom calls (it did!) and helped find a wonderful community member to care for our two sons. The home is perfect for spending time playing in the pool and barbecuing, and with the beach just a short drive away you’re never bored. Thank you Jennifer, we hope to return soon!

Our stay at Jennifer’s home in Costa Rica was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, Jennifer was a wonderful hostess—warm, welcoming, and full of great recommendations that truly enhanced our experience. Her earthy and inviting vibe made us feel right at home. The house itself is beautifully designed, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, it was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, making it the perfect retreat for my whole family. The pool was a lifesaver in the tropical heat and quickly became our favorite hangout spot. One of the most magical aspects of our stay was the way the property was built with respect for nature. Many of the original trees were left undisturbed, allowing us to experience the local wildlife up close. Watching the howler monkeys from the wraparound balcony as they passed by was an unforgettable highlight! Playa Avellana was charming and breathtaking—a true gem. With the area growing, we felt l

What a beautiful place! Jennifer was such a wonderful host so friendly, very attentive filled with lots of ideas of where we could go and things we could see especially locally owned places. Definitely suggest renting a car or renting an ATV if you are staying here to get to the beaches and other things easily .

the house is trully beautiful and located in a nice an quiet corner of playa Avellana. We were a group of 10 people and found the irse to be spacious enough for all of us. Jennifer was very quick to fix an issue we had with the AC, and the cleanliness of the pool... overall we found the place to be fantastic and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone! thanks again Jennifer.

I stayed at Jennifer's place for a month in February and hosted a 7 day yoga retreat for 9 attendees. The home was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities to live comfortably (stocked kitchen, washer drying, ceiling fans, A/C in bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, towels, sheets, comfortable seating and gathering areas. The wild life on the property was also such an incredible gift. Jennifer is an extremely kind and helpful hostess! I hope to be able to stay there again in the near future.

We had an amazing time sharing Jennifer’s home with our friends. We had twelve people in all - 6 adults and 6 kiddos, ages ~2 to 7. We all enjoyed the sounds of howler monkeys, the serenity of the area, meals together in the amazing kitchen, walks around the property and refreshing dips in the pool. Everything was simply wonderful. Just a few heads ups (by no means complaints) - there is no zip line, no TV (but a tv screen with hdmi cable for mirroring your computer screen) and there is only AC in the rooms. The pool was our saving grace when it was super hot around midday. Enjoy your stay and Pura Vida!
