La Lodge on Big Corn Island was an ideal accommodation. The private beach access, walkability to restaurants & bars, and a peaceful location. The Turtle’s Nest was perfect Airbnb for us - beautiful views of the Caribbean, a stocked kitchen, and beach towels. Helen was extremely helpful! She helped us call taxis and the food she makes upon request was delicious. I would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay at Dons and would definitely come back. Plenty of space, clean and quiet. If you have any concerns about sleeping in a bunk bed like I did don’t worry they are very comfortable. We loved our stay there, 2 steps from the beach, the lady on site was really available to answer our questions and help us if there was anything. There are restaurants not too far away too and grocery stores.

We have stayed at Turtles Nest before.  Our experience is really good. The apartment functions nicely for 4-5 people. Staff is most helpful.

Beautiful home, but disappointing experience with the host. (Helen) The house itself was beautiful — clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The host initially was welcoming but then became unresponsive. Unfortunately, the experience with the taxi arranged through Helen was not good. We were told the taxi would arrive in 10 minutes but waited about 30. The driver picked up another passenger along the way and was rude when we arrived, demanding more money than the amount originally mentioned. We paid what he asked — and immediately the host messaged us saying we hadn’t paid enough, even though we explained that we gave him what he requested. After that, we never received a response. Our first morning at 8:46 am the power went out. Again left on read with no response. The house itself was great, but we’d recommend arranging everything else on your own as the host was unresponsive after the first day. Unprofessional.

So sorry you had a disappointment. Thank you for the chance to make sure future guests do not have the same experience. Corn Island is currently doing maintenance and upgrading the electrical grid. La Lodge has a generator that handles the lapses in energy. When the gas tanks for the generator run out they must be changed. It takes about 15 minutes. At 8:46 that  is what Helen was doing. A recent enforcement of licensing has thinned the fleet of cab drivers. Cabs on CornIsland operate similar to a bus. If you call a cab and they already have a customer but there is room in the cab for you ,are expected to get in. As to the price it is 1$ or 36 cords per "person" And per stop. Sorry if your understanding was 1$ for two and unlimited destinations for two people. Looking at it from both sides it would "given today's gas prices" be hard for a taxi driver to feed his children. There are cars, quads and scooters for rent at very economical prices. Renting them would eliminate the wait, perceived rudeness,and need to ride share. I must say your opinion of Helen is not shared by 99.9 % of our quests. She has been compared to a second mother by many. Thanks for your many compliments on the home.

The place was very nice. We had a beach all to ourselves and also opportunities for water sports. Helen cooks for guests on request and it is highly recommended. She is a great cook. I would book this home again.

Beautiful residence for spending a few quiet days facing the sea. Some attentions, rare in the accommodations, are precious here: towels largely sufficient (even for the beach), loan of body surf boards, possibility of having a meal prepared and served in the accommodation. There is hot water in the showers (which is rare in Nicaragua). Be careful if you are bringing small children: the upper beds are not safe (but you sleep very well!).

Magnifique résidence pour passer quelques jours au calme face à la mer. Quelques attentions, rares d'habitude dans les logements, sont ici précieuses : serviettes largement en suffisance (même pour la plage), prêt de planches de body surf, possibilité de se faire préparer un repas servi dans le logement. Il y a de l'eau chaude dans les douches (ce qui est rare au Nicaragua). Attention si vous venez avec des enfants en bas-âge : les lits du haut ne sont pas sécurisés (mais on y dort très bien!).

Don was great. Only had the pleasure to meet him a few times but he was very polite. The spot is amazing and just as described. The place was very clean, the AC worked great and the staff was wonderful. The optional breakfast is a must and is definitely worth the price. I ordered every morning. The balance between privacy and giving us help was excellent and I recommend this place to anybody wanting to see the beauty of Corn Island.

Wonderful place to relax and chill out. Grocery store is about a 15 minute walk down the road and if walking isn’t your thing then It’s also really easy to cab everywhere for cheap. The wonderful lady looking after the place suggested we go to the big baseball tournament happening on the island. It was a wonderful recommendation and locals were very welcoming. Corn island does not play around when it comes to baseball and are very passionate about their team! She is also a great cook and recommend the lobster! Thanks for welcoming us into your wonderful cozy place.

A well-kept house with beautiful views. It's true that you need transportation to get around the area to other places, as there's not much to do there. The beach is very large and has fine white sand.

A bit quieter being on Long Bay which was perfect. The place it self was as excellent, bunk beds were comfortable and private 2 bathroom and a lovely open deck. Ac worked well. Easy to get around, Frankie rents bikes and has a taxi. He was so helpful. Rent a bike for your whole stay. We Rented a private boat thru Frankie and it was excellent ,to see little Corn. On a map Long Bay seems out a ways,but is not . Lovely people and good food where ever we went. Thank you

We stayed a month and wish we could stay longer. Beautiful view of the blue ocean and palm trees from our balcony was such a peaceful place to have morning coffee. The kitchen was fully eqipped to cook in. We ordered Thai fish dishes from Helen a few times her cooking was outstanding and she was always so very helpful and kind. The unit was clean inside and out and not one bug inside and the grounds, Beto did an amazing job keeping things tidy and thank you for being so ready to help bring my water jug up stairs for me The wifi was great had to work and have zoom calls with no problem. We had no complaints with the AC either always worked well when we used it. Beds were so comfy best sleep. Having two full bathrooms and two showers was so convenient and so clean. Loved all the tile work and details are very beautiful. The front property was so nice to sit and ponder or go have long walks on the beach. Thank you Don and Kathy and to everyone for a great stay

Great place for a large family. Plenty of space, the high ceilings and natural  made it feel more spacious. I am a nooks and crannies type of person so I quickly noticed they need a deep clean but overall the lodge was clean. Helen was very attentive to any needs we had. I have 2 toddlers so a working TV to watch cartoons in the evenings/down time would have been great, but unfortunately the TV was broke.  My older 2 kids loved it and wish to return in the future.

The location and home was everything and more. We had so much to do and explore, Don had a private person to help if we needed it with anything g and everything. We were travelling with small children and he made sure we were accommodated in every way. The only problem is that we couldn’t stay longer :) We will definitely be back and recommend this place to everyone. Plus the beach in front of the house was the nicest we saw on the island. Thanks again and hope to see you next year!

My girlfriend and I have stayed a week in this beautiful house , the place is very quiet and a little far from the center of the island , the beach in front is very nice , however it is not a quiet beach since there are many waves by the wind that receives this quiet beach, with Hellen we have rented a scooter and she has cooked us a couple of times , Hellen the lobster was our favorite !! Finally the place was fine , we enjoyed the whole island and of course we recommend this place!! Pura Vida !!!

The house is beautiful. Exactly as described and completely matches the pictures. Everything (except the air conditioning) works and the kitchen was very extensively equipped. We even had hot showers (although not sufficient for 5 people, it is an exception!) The view is magnificent, the view of long-bay is great and the stay is pleasant. Only point: the house is quite far away from restaurants and shops and therefore you have to walk or far (at least 1.5 km for the first restaurant) or use a taxi each time.

Het huis is prachtig. Exact zoals beschreven en komt helemaal overeen met de foto's. Alles (behalve de airco) werkt en de keuken was zeer uitgebreid uitgerust. We hadden zelfs warme douches (weliswaar niet voldoende voor 5 personen, maar het is wel een uitzondering!) Het uitzicht is magnifiek, het uitzicht op long-bay is geweldig en het verblijf is prettig. Enkel puntje: het huis is behoorlijk ver verwijderd van restaurants en winkeltjes en daardoor moet je of ver lopen (minstens 1,5 km voor het eerste restaurant) of telkens een taxi gebruiken.

The bunkhouse was really lovely, even though it was one room it was designed really well for up to 4 people to have full privacy thanks to the cosy bunk beds. The house was beautifully decorated with lots of little details which we appreciated, and had everything we needed. Not to mention the view which is amazing! 10/10 would come back again!

all in all it was real nice. private. In my opnion the other side of the island is better if you want entertainment>  Dons place is best for longer stays. There was construction going on when we got there and that did not help our  first impressions. Helen was the best and her cooking superb.

We vacationed to the Corn Islands for the first time which landed is in Don and Kathy's La Lodge. The space is one of a couple of rentals on the property though is a completely private/complete unit.. It is located on the quieter side of Big Corn Island on Long Bay Beach. This particular rental  is just across the street but has the most wonderful shaded balcony that overlooks the sea. We spent a number of hours sitting there enjoying the view, breeze & sound of the waves.  Helen is the property manager and is a delight! I highly recommend purchasing her meals. She makes the best lobster on the island! This unit is clean, air-conditioned, and has plenty of hot water! it also has a generator to cover any disruption in electricity! So many perks for a reasonable cost. Thanks for having us!

It is probably the best accommodation on Corn Island in a private apartment, right on the beach with a shower… Just delicious… We take advantage of the host's above-standard willingness in the case of our troubles with a change of flight and an artful date of stay. Really dude!!!

We loved staying in this little piece of paradise! The views are stunning and you can just watch and listen to the ocean for hours! The unit had a fully stocked kitchen with a nice open layout. The decor was very nice and many small touches made this place feel like a wonderful home away from home! Don was a great host and Helen was there for anything and everything we needed, she was fantastic and her help made our stay that much better! The location is quieter than other places you’ll find on the island and walkable to several restaurants, and taxi/scooter rentals can get you anywhere else. Oh, and hot showers!!! Not soemthing you’ll find at many other places on the island! Dons place is a must stay!!!

Don’s place was perfect. It had all the amenities we needed for our family. Even though we could not swim in the beach right across, due to the weather and current, picnic beach was just a short taxi drive away and star gazing n Don’s backyard made up for it 100 times!

We had a wonderful stay. Helen the manager was very helpful and always happy. We were a group of 6 with 3 generations and stayed 3 nights. Loved the view and the beach opposite. We were able to do our own cooking breakfast and lunch ( buy provisions esp fruit and veg when you get off the ferry) and ate at the local spots for dinner. Would highly recommend for a beach break

Don's apartment is such a lovely place, neat and spacious, very quiet at night, perfectly equiped, with beautiful view on the beach and sea. The best hot shower we had in whole Nicaragua! :) We enjoyed our stay so much! Also Don, Helen and others were always there to help or advise. Highly recomend!

Turtle Nest was just as Don had described. The place is excellent if you are wishing to have a relaxing and peaceful time. The views were memorable. We were able to walk on the beach on Long Bay, but the weekend we were there the winds were a bit strong; nevertheless, the beach on South West Bay was close, so we took a cab, and ejoyed our time there. Helen, the administrator, greeted us and was also very helpful with preparing meals and arranging local transportation. We had a great stay.

We really enjoyed some quiet days in the Bunkhouse. It is a beautiful oasis that offers every comfort you need. Due to the location by the sea the balcony and also the floor inside the house gets really ‚greasy‘ though and would really ned a good clean. Other than that we would love to stay in the Bunkhouse again 😊 Thanks for everything, we really appreciated the early Check-In!

This was my first time on Corn Island and the accommodations at Turtle’s Nest Bunkhouse were absolutely wonderful. The view from the balcony is lovely and the private beach is just a short 2-minute walk away. Helen was kind, communicative and attentive - and take advantage of her cooking, her food is phenomenal! The property is just a short taxi drive away from other restaurants and the stores. Overall, I and the two other adults traveling with me enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely go back in the future.

Great place! Plenty of beds with a nice kitchen and two big bathrooms.  Plus a nice tv that you can hook up your Amazon fire stick too.  The location is nice and right by the beach.  I will be staying here again.

One of my favorite Airbnb’s ever. Take a taxi from the airport and it should only be about 20 Cordoba’s. Helen helped us check in and was wonderful and incredibly accommodating. The Airbnb is beautiful and we had the whole beach to ourselves. Highly recommend.

The house is as shown in the photos, although it is not directly facing the sea as it looks. The interior is very clean, equipped with everything needed for cooking, bathing, and cleaning. The area is very nice and quiet. I recommend it !

This is one of those Airbnb's where just everything is right, and that is pretty rare! Don is a very friendly guy that knows how to make a comfortable place. The mattresses are great, the kitchen is well-equipped, the view is lovely, it's nice and quiet, fast Wi-Fi, a lot of power sockets, warm showers. We even got an early check in because we had an early flight, which was really appreciated!

My husband, our 15-year-old son and I spent roughly 11 nights here and are almost certain it is the nicest place a tourist on Corn Island could stay. Between the relatively remote location, proximity to the Caribbean, quality of construction, comfort of the beds and hot showers, you're unlikely to find a better accommodation. Plus, there's a full kitchen. The hosts were available the few times we needed something, a nearby restaurant (Spekito's) had one of the best dining experiences of the island and groceries or anything else you might need is a 3- to 7-minute drive away. This is the place! If we ever make it back to Corn Island, this is where we'll be ; )

The place worked out great.  We set up to have a few meals prepared for us during our stay which was absolutely amazing.  Don place is highly recommended.

This was our second time staying with Cathy, Don and Helen and we will definitely be back! It is on the breezy quieter side of the island. We stayed in the Crow's Nest (one of their other apartments) last year and loved it but since they are renovating that space (it's above their house) we stayed in the Treehouse (one of their original more rustic apartments) which we loved - it has gorgeous ocean views from the big four poster bed and we also stayed in the Turtle's Nest which is their largest space. The Turtle's Nest is newly completed and it's just stunning. Lovely big balcony with chairs where we hung out and admired the gorgeous ocean view.  The kitchen is fully stocked and has a brand new gas range stove, toaster oven and blender as well as being stocked with items/kitchen tools for cooking. The couch turns into a king size bed (or remains a massive comfy pillow filled couch) and there are 4 twin size bed bunks that have very comfortable mattresses. Each bunk has a little fan, little window, electrical outlet for devices and a little light and a little curtain to draw for privacy if you want. It has two big bathrooms.  There is AC but we didn't use it as the ocean breeze and overhead fans kept it cool. The bathrooms and the kitchen have some of Helen and Cathy's art showcased - lots of glass/shell/reclaimed broken ceramic mosaics everywhere. Helen is also a fabulous cook and she cooked for us each evening we stayed there. Everything from kingfish filet and coconut rice and plantain fries to yummy res (beef) soup.  Thank you Helen! We had some meals down in the space in the front of the main house by the ocean and some nights we ate in our own little kitchen. My husband also went diving with Myron at the dive shop (which Cathy and Don own) and it was a very positive experience. He did his Padi open water with Myron last year and dove half a dozen times (loved it) and we dove together last year and this time he was excited to dive again. Myron is a fabulous instructor - very professional and thorough and made us feel very safe and comfortable.  We saw eagle rays and tons of fish.  Cathy was wonderful and she arranged for us to have snorkeling gear.  My husband went snorkeling right out front of the main house.  They also have kayaks for guest use. And also two hammocks by the ocean where I spent a lot of time. Cathy gave us rides to the hospital when I needed to get checked out (I was fine!) and also took us into "town" to get a few things.  The road that runs between the Turtles Nest and the main house has the occasional car or moto zip by but we weren't bothered by the noise at all.  Taxis are 20 cordobas per person to go anywhere on the island - there aren't many that pass right by the house but if you start walking up to the main road (it's not far and a beautiful walk) then usually one would come along by the time we hit the corner.  Spekitos restaurant is within walking distance and we saw their famous nurse sharks and had yummy fish and if you go the other way on the main road (away from Spekitos) there is a family that has very good typical nica street food a few minutes up on the right. We have spent a few nights on Little Corn as well and in the end - Don and Cathy's place on Long Bay on Big Corn is our favourite place.   Thank you so much to all of you!
