The Space
Casa Alegre is a three-level house featuring three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. It is located on the beautiful black sand beach of Playa Junquillal. The main living area is designed with oversized windows that invite ocean breezes and the soothing sounds of the sea inside.
On the third floor, a sundeck offers a Jacuzzi tub where you can relax while watching the sunset and enjoying a cocktail. This space is ideal for sunbathing or beginning your day with yoga and meditation.
Access to the house involves one flight of stairs to reach the main living area and a second flight to get to the third-floor sundeck.
Guest Access
Guests have full access to the entire house, with access levels depending on the number of guests in the reservation.
Important Notes
The two guest bedrooms are located poolside, so this area is not recommended for unsupervised children under 12 years old.

Access to the property varies based on the number of guests:

1 to 2 guests: Access is limited to the upstairs rooms, which include the kitchen, living area, master bedroom, and upstairs bathrooms, as well as all outdoor spaces. Additional bedrooms can be reserved for $60 per night, per person, per room. Please contact us to arrange this.

3 to 4 guests: Access includes the upstairs rooms (kitchen, living room, master bedroom, and upstairs bathrooms), one downstairs bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and all outdoor areas. September visit: Location was VERY peaceful. Only saw one other person on the beach. The beach was really picturesque & walkable, but not at all inviting (or perceptibly safe) to swim (steep beach, deep water, heavy beach break, strong rips - & I’m a surfer). Mosquito (rainy) season was in force, thus pool & bbq area were inhospitable. Top floor w hot tub was great as long as the wind kept mosquitoes at bay. Rainy season cloud cover kept the top floor cool (there’s no shade). I suspect the pool would be very enjoyable during the dry season whereas the top floor would be an oven. The master bed & bath were comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped & capable. The little dining area was nice with a good table & views. But the adjoining living room area desperately needs a furniture facelift. Neither the couch nor 2 chairs were comfortable to hang out in. Also, I suspect the living room space would be very crowded with more than 2 adults hanging about. Overall good experience

we enjoyed our time here, the house is in a great location for privacy and is pretty remote. the views from the roof top were amazing. loved all the greenery on the property, like living in a jungle, but be warned the mosquitos were really bad. the beach was nice to walk and the estuary down the road made for some good exploring. be sure to check out the turtle hatchery. the rental company was wonderful to deal with and very attentive. a welcome basket with treats and coffee were a nice touch. would love to return some day.

Absolutely gorgeous, extremely comfortable and clean. Very receptive to questions. LOVED the lightening storms from the roof each night and waking up to the ocean waves. The crabs were amazing. Bummed we didn't get to see the monkeys; maybe next time. The road is definitely full of potholes the last 2 miles so glad we had a4 wheel drive, but going slow any car likely would have worked. Definitely stock up on groceries before coming into town but there are little stores if you forget something. Could easily have stayed at the house the entire time without going out to see other things, but we enjoyed the zipline and night market. A few earlier reviews had me mildly worried about safety, but use common sense and all the security measures they provide and we felt 100% safe. Would definitely stay here again :-)

I stayed at Casa Alegre with my husband and our two young daughters. The beach was amazing, and the view was spectacular! The home was very clean and peaceful, and we loved taking walks along the beach. We felt very safe at the property while still enjoying a wonderful sense of remoteness. Although we didn’t use the pool, we did enjoy the rooftop tub during the day—it was fantastic! We also appreciated how quiet the area was, with a great restaurant (Bernardo’s) just down the road, a great local grocery store and many other things to do less than an hour away. The only challenge for us was the layout of the home. The downstairs bedrooms have exterior entries, which made it difficult for our kids to have their own rooms inside the main house. We were able to make it work, but for families with very young children (a toddler and an infant), this layout might not be ideal. That said, we still very much enjoyed our stay. Chiara was an amazing host! She was responsive and very helpful!!

Casa Alegre was the perfect spot for our family vacation. It was exactly as described; great house that allows for privacy from each other when needed, a private location and yet and not too far from grocery and restaurants. Chiara was a wonderful host and gave excellent instructions and advice. We can’t wait to come back!

We are still on cloud nine after an absolutely SUBLIME stay at Casa Alegre! Chiara was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout our entire stay, and the house and surroundings were exactly as magical as described. We chose to rent a car at the airport as we planned to do a lot of exploration during our stay, and getting around was not a problem at all as long as you plan for slower traffic pretty much everywhere. If we ever plan another trip to this part of Costa Rica, we would stay here again without a second thought.

Beautiful retreat for relaxation. The roof top space was our favorite spot to take in the sunrise at the beach and hot tub by moonlight. It was private and fairly secluded. I would recommend a rental vehicle as the road is long and winding. We felt very secure with the gated driveway and other security features. We would absolutely stay here again!
