The Space

This one-of-a-kind property combines breathtaking views with Spanish Revival architecture. It sits on the northwest rim of an extinct volcano within the Apoyo Lagoon Natural Reserve.

From the Castillo terrace, you can look across the ancient volcanic Apoyo Lake toward:

• Mombacho Volcano
• Lake Nicaragua
• The city of Granada
• The Isletas
• Concepción Volcano, occasionally visible in the distance

The 3,000-square-foot home features hand-rendered concrete and stucco, curved arches, exposed beams, and cane ceilings. Arched doors and windows are complemented by matching woodwork. Tile floors with hand-painted accent borders extend throughout the house.

The well-equipped kitchen includes a gas stove and oven. Two dining tables provide space for large gatherings, while the living room features a smart television for streaming movies and entertainment.

There are three bedrooms, each with individual air conditioning and an overhead ceiling fan. Water comes from a spring-fed aquifer, and hot water is available on demand.

Outdoor Areas

Step onto the expansive terrace to enjoy the completely private infinity pool, framed by the lake beyond. Two covered porches feature handcrafted local furniture and offer comfortable spaces for relaxing outdoors.

The surrounding area is part of an ecological reserve with:

• More than 500 species of plants and tropical trees
• A wide variety of orchids
• Howler monkeys
• Iguanas and lizards
• Anteaters
• More than 230 species of birds
• Approximately 220 species of butterflies
• A variety of fish, including species found only in Apoyo Lake

A large mango tree towers over the driveway. You are welcome to collect fallen mangoes, which are excellent in salads and smoothies. Lush tropical flowers surround the property, and hummingbirds, other tropical birds, and the occasional toucan are frequent visitors.

Guest Access

The entire house is available for your enjoyment.

The laundry area is off-limits, and personal guest laundry service is not currently available because of limited water reserves.

Dining and Local Area

Local restaurants in the lagoon and surrounding area offer beautiful views and excellent food.

Transportation

The property is approximately 45 minutes from the airport. A shuttle service can be arranged for:

• $40 for up to four people
• $70 for groups larger than four

Transportation can also stop at a local supermarket during business hours for an additional $10. The property manager will arrange the service, and the driver will take you from the airport directly to the house. The driver will meet you at the airport holding a sign with your name.

If you rent a car, use your phone’s GPS to navigate to the house. GPS coordinates will be provided.

A local taxi driver named Carlos is available for half-day, full-day, or as-needed transportation.

Currency

United States dollars are widely accepted. Local restaurants and businesses generally offer better exchange rates than banks, which charge a commission. Smaller-denomination U.S. bills are recommended.
