We came here with a big crew of adults and kids and had an incredible 5 days. The beach right in front of the house is absolutely stunning and empty. You can sit and drink your coffee and watch a handful of pro level surfers tackle the waves. If you like mellow, never-ending rides, Pan Dulce is a 7 minute drive or 15 minute walk down a bumpy road. The kitchen is the best equipped airbnb I have ever stayed in- sharp knives, all-clad stainless steel pots and pans, every accessory one could need. Our 4 to 9 year old group of kids had the time of their lives building beach bonfires, spotting sloths, and making houses for hermit crabs. The array of colorful birds is unlike anything I have ever seen and I only live three hours away. Truly, one of the most special places I have ever stayed. It is IN the jungle though so you will enjoy it if you like the sound of crashing waves to lull you to sleep, birdsong at 5am, and feeling of being one with the elements.

Ted’s place is great. We visited with a large family of 9. We used two of Ted’s houses. Place was super with immediate walk out to beach and to numerous other beaches on the coast. Great place, peaceful sleeping and perfect for family meals. Lots of nature and animals close by but not intimidating. Ted was super helpful and provided lots of recommendations for local excursions, restaurants and transportation.

We traveled with another family and rented two houses on Ted's property. EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME! What an amazing part of the world! Every day we saw so many monkeys: Spider, capuchin, and howler. The capuchins are a little bold. We saw lots of blue morpho butterflies. Scarlet macaws and tucans love this property. The trees on the property are remarkable. Both kitchens are well-equipped with everything needed to make big family meals. The beds have mosquito nets and are comfortable. Ted provides lots of fans. The washer and dryer are handy and helped us pack sparingly. This is a really special place in a special part of the world. If you are looking to connect with nature and relax, this is the place to do it. You'll need an all wheel drive car to get here, but you could also hire a driver to take you there, and back into town when needed [might be cheaper than a rental]. Ted is a great host and can connect you with local guides and adventures.

Ted is extremely helpful and very attent and unspoiled shoe and the cried of scarlet macwsive. The house is perfect for experiencing the fabulously beautiful Cabo matapalo. The crashing surf and the scarlet macaw action are unbelievable. Best place ever!

We spent 6 incredible nights here with just the sea, the parrots and the monkeys for company. The house keeper was there to help with anything we needed but never in our way. The set up is relatively simple but perfect for the setting. We were two families and all of us fell in love with the place. If you like everything just so with all mid cons etc then this probably isn’t for you, but if you want a real experience and a bit of adventure off the beaten track I can’t recommend this enough.

This remote paradise is well worth the adventure to get there. The main spaces of the house are outdoors and are designed to induce endless lounging. If you surf, rent a surfboard in Uvita ($10/day) and surf in the bathtub-warm gulf about 100 yards directly in front of the house. Calmer swimming holes are a 5 min walk up the beach road. Be sure to stock up completely at the BM supermarket in Puerto Jiminez, as you won't want to go back to civilization until your time is up. We opted to have restaurant-worthy dinners cooked by the caretakers instead of cooking. We stayed at Luna Lodge later in the week but reflected on how nice it was to have time to ourselves at Ted's home, without having to interact with other guests. You will revel in isolated splendor.
