Casa Mathias is a family home that is close to all the necessities you may need. This location gives you the experience of Tico life. The location is in a tico neighborhood and it is very safe. We have a gate for privacy and a driveway if you wish to park your transport. Remember this is a jungle. The property is clean but you will find geckos and small insects on the property when if the doors and/or windows are left open. The space Casa Mathias is a very welcoming home where we thoroughly enjoyed our time with our visitors. It is also a place to make friends because we have visitors from different parts of the world as we accept students from Nosara Spanish Institute. Guest access Each guest will be assigned their own private room and bathroom and at the same time will have access to all shared living spaces. Shared spaces include kitchens, living rooms, and the driveway. During your stay I'm not always on site, but I'm always available to help. Just send me a message and I will answer as soon as I can. Other things to note Casa Mathias is a typical Costa Rican house with the aim of providing a cozy experience in a rural neighborhood with Costa Rican locals. Experience life as a local would. We would like you to know that there are mango trees around the property and sometimes fall into the ceiling. There are also nights of live music at the restaurant next to the neighborhood.

Casa Mathias was exactly what I needed for my 10 days in Nosara. I had a clean, cheerful room that was perfect for my need to study and I had access to a full kitchen. Plus, it had great air conditioning and wifi! I loved the neighborhood which felt like an authentic Costa Rica neighborhood, complete with chickens, dogs, monkeys in the trees, children playing in the street, and families just hanging out. This was a welcome break from the Playa Guiones vibe which is catered to visitors. Lisvia was very responsive, welcoming, and helpful. I had full laundry service and I felt right at home with her son, cats and dog. I always felt happy to come home to this green, open, healthy space. Thank you, Lisvia for this wonderful stay.

What you pay is what you get. Overall the host is nice and the place fairly clean. What I found bad is the Roosters crowing all night and that the bathroom is smelly and outside the room. Keep in mind I am a light sleeper. Then, there are insects like cockroaches, ants and spider. But another guest told me she had a bathroom in her room and no insects. Also, the air conditionning was blowing in my face I think was making me sick. So I guess it depends. If you can sleep anywhere and want a cheap place to surf, it can work. There is a kitchen and a fridge. The beach is not far, around 25 minutes by walk.

I've stayed with Lisvia more than once and she stands out among hosts in that she's a genuinely hospitable person and isn't just renting her home for the money. She's super kind, helpful and easy to deal with and having her beautiful kitchen with addons like espresso pods makes it an unbelievable stay for the price. Highly recommend.

My room didn’t have a window and was in the middle of the kitchen and smelled very damp. The pictures were of different rooms. It felt greedy to even attempt to make that a room
