Cabana Ilse is our latest construction. The cabin features a queen-size bed and a bunk bed for two. An extra single bed can be added upon request, accommodating a total of five guests.

The Space

From our finca, you can reach the main road in five minutes. There, you will find a variety of local restaurants and small shops. Bicycle, motorbike, and scooter rentals are also available.

There are numerous short and long hikes to explore. Walking around Merida is best done on foot. During the dry season, you can walk along the lake shore for miles. The road leading to San Ramon runs alongside the lake, allowing you to discover charming, quiet beaches along the way.

Nature here is remarkable, with opportunities to see howler monkeys, squirrels, and many different species of birds and parrots. The area is also home to an incredible number of old, large trees. Hiking up Volcano Maderas takes you through sub-tropical forests and rainforests with unique vegetation. Merida is one of the most beautiful parts of the island, where the local community still relies on fishing and agriculture.

Other Things to Note

Merida is still a rural area, and the local municipality does not provide extensive support for the community. Water pipes may break, and electricity can occasionally be unavailable for hours. We have a large water tank to ensure a reliable water supply for our guests.
