The Space

Finca del Sol is a small family-run eco-lodge located on the flanks of Volcano Madaras, within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and hiking trails. Over two-thirds of the 11.5-acre property consists of tropical dry forest, providing opportunities to see a variety of wildlife, including:

• Howler monkeys
• Rabbits
• Frogs
• Many species of birds and butterflies

The property features three individually decorated private guest bungalows and one loft room. Each accommodation is comfortable, clean, and offers stunning sunset views of Volcano Conception.

This private bungalow is a beautiful hexagon with a hand-woven thatch roof and cob-style walls, designed to keep you cool year-round. It measures approximately 350 square feet, including the porch, and boasts an amazing view of Volcano Conception.

The cabin is situated on a hillside with cool breezes and a large private garden space. It includes:

• A double bed with an orthopedic mattress
• Mosquito netting
• Drinking water
• A private bathroom
• A hot water shower
• Shampoo

Additionally, the cabin is equipped with two hammocks that offer fantastic views for lounging and reading. Daily housekeeping is provided to ensure your comfort, and assistance is always available on-site.

There is a common area where guests can meet, plan tours together, or explore the property and enjoy the many flowers in the park-like setting. The environment is relaxing, perfect for those looking to escape and connect with nature. There is also a Wi-Fi connection in the reception area for those who need it, along with the option to enjoy breakfast outdoors.

Other Things to Note

The Key

The key is available on-site from 12 PM to 4 PM. Late check-ins must email in advance to arrange key pickup. While we live on the property, we come and go throughout the day, so your communication regarding arrival times is appreciated.

Insects

The property is a lush tropical forest, abundant with plant and animal life. Guests may encounter small, shy jungle animals, including:

• Birds
• Butterflies
• Bees
• Monkeys
• Frogs
• Toads
• Spiders
• Small bats

These creatures are generally harmless and non-aggressive. The only venomous animal on the island is the coral snake, which is timid and rarely seen. This biodiversity contributes to Ometepe being a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, celebrated for its natural beauty and diversity.
