First let me say that the property manager, Madeleine, is amazing. Super responsive and did her absolute best to solve our problem with the noise from construction next door. I have stayed in many an Airbnb, and am not one to complain, but the construction was a real issue this week. Construction is not unusual in Guiones, however it was nowhere in the listing. Not only was it consistent every day except the weekend, it loomed over us in the form of a treehouse being built right on the property line, overlooking the pool. Hammering, power saws, even a little beating of sheet metal to round out the band! The crew were literally on the roof looking down at us if we were outside. Madeleine made several phone calls and tried to get the neighnours to honour an agreement they apparently had, but with no luck. The owner of Casa Coco offered us a small refund. Under the circumstances, it was honestly not enough.

Unreliable, uncomfortable stay! Power/water outages are common in Nosara, yet host didn’t have backup plan. After a hot day surfing, there was no water to shower due to outage. Owner apologized, said they had another recently?! & it’s become a new problem, which isn’t true as a local friend (lived there 20 yrs) told me it’s a known issue. It’s even in the listing & unit book! A proactive, reliable Superhost would have a reserve tank. Luckily we got water after 3 hrs but what if we didnt? Then shower fixture was broken. We asked for a fix; told no workers until next day. I know it’s a holiday but tourists visit on holidays & workers are available; clearly host didn’t want to pay overtime. The house smelled musty, kitchen/bathrooms need maintenance, trash cans sticky/dirty, dimly lit, overall worn/dated. She refunded us $200 after I repeatedly asked for makegood, but it’s not enough. NOT worth $675 rate, just jacked up for peak season. We will pay for quality but this sadly wasn’t one.
