Eco-friendly 1BR suite for two on Isla de Ometepe’s Maderas volcano slope. Enjoy jungle views, private porch, hammock, and access to farm-fresh breakfasts in a sustainable retreat.
Make yourself at home in this eco-friendly suite for two on the first floor of the Jungle House, located on the slopes of the Maderas volcano on Isla de Ometepe, Nicaragua. Relax in the comfort of high-speed ceiling fans, a private shower, Wi-Fi, an outdoor porch, and peaceful tropical forest surroundings.
The "Forest View Suite" at the Jungle House is part of Selvista Guesthouses, a "barefoot luxury" collection of jungle guesthouses on Isla de Ometepe. The island is a lush and tropically forested UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, the largest lake in Central America.
The suite consists of the first floor, which is completely separate from the "Luxury Suite with Volcano View - Jungle House" on the second and third floors.
The entire space is a masterpiece of two years of hand-built construction by a local team utilizing local bamboo, wood, and stone. The main room of the suite features all-natural walls and floors by Casa de Tierra, an environmentally sustainable building project based in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.
The suite includes:
The private bathroom (8 meters from the bedroom door) is made of coconut palms and features a well-maintained compost toilet, sink, and shower.
Your stay includes:
Guests have exclusive access to the entire first-floor suite and accompanying bathroom, as well as full access to the jungle/farm property and the open-air kitchen where breakfast is served. You are welcome to prepare your own meals in the kitchen, which is shared with three other guesthouses on the property but is used infrequently.
Breakfast is included with your stay and is offered from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. Guests are served island coffee, tea from the garden, and a plate of various farm-fresh breakfast foods prepared by a friendly local cook.
Guests are invited to take a free tour with the local site manager of the 1-hectare (2.5-acre) guesthouse property, which includes farm animals, tropical fruits, organic gardens, and examples of sustainability and self-sufficiency in the jungle.
During your stay, I am always available for guests via Airbnb message, and I am occasionally on-site when I'm not working on landscape design projects in other parts of the world. The co-host lives on-site and can be contacted via WhatsApp in English or Spanish.
The farm is home to four friendly dogs: Loki and Navi. They provide company and security 24/7. The entire property is a lush tropical forest, abundant with plant and animal life. Guests may often encounter small, shy jungle animals around the property, including birds, butterflies, bees, monkeys, frogs, toads, spiders, and small bats.
In keeping with our vision, we try to use natural remedies to manage these creatures, which we are happy to share with you upon your arrival. None of these species are aggressive, toxic to humans, or otherwise dangerous. There is only one venomous animal on the island, the coral snake, which is timid and rarely seen.
These creatures contribute to the natural beauty and diversity that make Ometepe a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
