A gorgeous and unique 6,000 square feet colonial villa in the heart of Granada, this home is a showcase of the city's colonial architecture. Built in the 1750s, it has undergone a two-year loving restoration to preserve its original architectural details while integrating modern amenities. The villa features a lush central courtyard with a 40-foot long pool, perfect for cooling off on hot afternoons.
Most houses in Granada charge separately for electricity; however, we do not. Please see our electrical consumption policy under "Other details to note."
Casa Blanca is ideally located at the top end of the pedestrianized Calle La Calzada, right next to Granada's famous cathedral and just steps from the bustling central park.
The home features five bedrooms arranged as follows:
The living areas are organized around extensive corridors. The main corridor features an antique rocking chair and coffee table set comfortably arranged beneath a powerful ceiling fan. There is another relaxed seating area situated at the opposite end of the pool from the main dining area. The home includes two classical colonial living rooms with doors that open directly into the pedestrian street Calle La Calzada.
The home is thoroughly furnished with exquisite furniture from the local manufacturer Simplamente Madera, which uses only the finest certified hardwoods. Life within Casa Blanca revolves around the kitchen table, a truly spectacular piece of woodwork with seating for 14 adults, showcasing both immensity and quality.
The home also boasts numerous televisions.
Check-in time is after 2 P.M. EST, and checkout is at 12 P.M. EST. No early check-in or late checkout is permitted without prior consultation.
If you decide to use our management company, GPS, for transportation service, they will deliver you directly to the house and check you in at Casa Blanca. If you use another service, someone will wait for you at the house to let you in. After you are settled, please visit GPS’s office to check in, where the staff will give you a tour of the house. Part of the check-in process includes reading the electric meter. If you arrive when the GPS office is closed (e.g., late at night), we can still provide access to the house, but we ask that you check in with GPS the next time their office opens. Their office hours are Monday to Friday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., Saturday from 9 A.M. to 2 P.M., and Sunday from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M.
Rates include linen and towel setup, maid service, internet, and laundry. Amenity fees are included in the rental rate. Toilet paper, paper towels, and soaps are provided for one week. Longer rentals should procure their own supplies.
Electric costs in Nicaragua are extremely high, exceeding $0.50 per kilowatt-hour (the highest in Central America and four times the U.S. average). Fifteen percent of your rental rate is applied towards payment of electrical usage. Your meter will be read upon check-in and check-out, and any excess over 15% of your rent will be deducted from your deposit. For example, if you are paying $1,000.00 in rent, you will have $150 in credit towards electricity. If the meter reads less than $150 used, you owe nothing and receive your deposit back. If the meter reads $160 in electric costs, $10 will be taken from your deposit. The homeowners are not responsible for temporary electric and water shut-offs by the city.
Any reservation obtained under false pretenses will result in the forfeiture of advance payment, deposit, and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in.
A security deposit box is located at the property for your use. If you choose to use the lock box, a $50.00 cash deposit to GPS is required for the key. This key must be returned to the GPS office to retrieve your deposit.
Any exceptions to the aforementioned policies must be approved in writing in advance.
We highly recommend all guests purchase travel insurance. If you wish to purchase travel insurance, please visit www.InsureMyTrip.com for details.
Pool service will be provided three times per week. Renters will be informed of when the service will be provided and must allow the pool maintenance person into the house. The pool maintenance person, as well as the rest of the staff, will have identification for access.
Cleaning service is provided as part of the rental from Monday to Saturday. If you would like to reduce the days of cleaning, please inform the GPS office. Cleaning must occur at least three days per week to maintain the expected level of cleanliness.
The unit is privately owned. Guillermo Suescum and/or Melanie Hughes are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illnesses that occur while on the premises or its facilities. The homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest.
