Guest Access

As a guest of Avara House, you will have access to the Hacienda Pinilla amenities, including:

• Three white sand beaches:
  • Playa Avellanas: Home of the Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club and a famous two-mile stretch of surf.
  • Playa Mansita: A flat water lagoon at low tide, ideal for snorkeling, fishing, and exploring tide pools. Home to the JW Marriott, where you can enjoy hotel restaurants and bars.
  • Playa Langosta: Offers large trees right up to the shoreline, perfect for a relaxing beach day.

Beach Club

The Hacienda Pinilla Beach Club is located right on the white sand of Playa Avellanas. Features include:

• Infinity-edge pool overlooking the waves
• Open-air restaurant
• Poolside sunbeds
• Tiki bar
• Gymnasium
• Soccer and volleyball courts

As a guest, entry to the beach club is $5 (paid once per day for ages 10 and up). Please note that the beach club closes annually in October for maintenance and upgrades.

JW Marriott Hotel

Hacienda Pinilla is home to the JW Marriott Hotel. As a guest of Avara House, you have access to numerous restaurants. You can also purchase a day pass for use of the JW amenities and pool, which is the largest pool in Central America.

Golf Course

Created by Mike Young, this par 72 course can play up to 7,200 yards. It is designed to enhance the natural landscape of Hacienda Pinilla, weaving through tropical forests along the Pacific shores.

Tennis Courts

Hacienda Pinilla offers three hard court tennis courts with an onsite instructor. Tennis and pickleball clinics, lessons, and court rentals are available.

• Clinics:
  • Monday 8:30-9:30 AM: Fit-tennis for all levels, $15
  • Tuesday 5-6:30 PM: Advanced clinic, $20
  • Thursday 4-5:30 PM: Intermediate clinic, $20
  • Saturday 8:30-10:30 AM: Pickleball clinic, $10
• Lessons:
  • $60/hour
  • $70 for two persons (1 hour)
  • $200 for a package of 4 lessons
  • $450 for a package of 10 lessons
• Court Rentals:
  • $10-$15 per hour
  • $25 per hour with lights
  • $5 per racquet or paddle
  • $5 per person for pickleball sessions

Horse Stables

Explore sixteen kilometers of scenic trails that wind through the dry forest and lead to the white sands of Playa Langosta. Guided horseback tours are available and can be customized to fit your group, ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Mountain Bike Trails

The property features:

• Pro trails: 30 kilometers throughout the ranch
• Amateur trails: 15 kilometers

These trails are also great for hiking and exploring the 4,500 acres.

Surfing

Hacienda Pinilla is an excellent location for surfing, with six waves at Playa Avellanas and private access to the beach breaks of Playa Langosta. The famous Playa Negra reef breaks are just 10 minutes south, and the river mouth and beach breaks of Tamarindo are 10 minutes to the north.

Additional Notes

Please note that we want all of our guests to enjoy their stay at Avara House. This home is located in a private, gated community primarily occupied by full-time residents and families. There is a very strict no-noise policy outside between 10 PM and 6 AM. This is not the house for hosting parties or events. It is suitable for groups of adults and families who respect the neighbors and community rules. If you plan to host a large party or make excessive noise, please consider reserving another property, as noise will not be tolerated and you may be asked to leave without a refund.
