2BR Loft in Tamarindo

Daniel

Excellent, 1 year ago

Pablo was / is awesome ! Knows the area and the place has the beach view ! Enjoy !

Considering how expensive Tamarindo is, this place is great value for money. It has a very rare top floor position overlooking the beach, in amongst the trees. Pretty special. The lounge & kitchen area is open to the elements, which I loved. So yes you might get more flies etc, and dust from the fine sand beach, but it’s to be expected. The pros outweigh the cons in my opinion, and I saw way more ants in other hostels. Very close to a nice part of the beach (less tourists). Decent sized bathroom, 2 large bedrooms with AC, and a huge tv in the lounge. The only down sides are the walk into town (although Tamarindo is small), and some noise from the restaurant fans etc downstairs.

The Beachfront Loft was the perfect location for our family to access surfing daily for the month. We loved the view and watching the animals. The kitchen had everything we needed. Parking was accessible. The air conditioning in the bedroom was nice and necessary. There are good restaurants nearby. We recommend the place! Here are some things that are good to know and will help: 1. Open air loft: Has a lot of dust. Bring bug spray. Don’t leave things out. Maybe bring ear plugs. 2. Water flow: There was low flow from the kitchen sink only. Other sinks were fine. If we needed a faster flow, we would just bring it from another sink. 3. Shower: Do not touch the shower head. It is wet and has an electric component. 4. Food: Keep the food sealed and in the refrigerator. The animals and bugs are attracted to it. 5. Laundry: There is a self-filling, two step washing machine. Be careful with hanging your clothes because the wind gust can blow them.

This was certainly the dirtiest AirBnB I've seen. There were hairs on the sheets on the 2 beds, so presumably they hadn't been washed. We sorted through the extra sheets in the closet and chose the least-dirty sheets to use. There were separate ant and spider colonies in the bathroom, which was generally gross anyway. The water pressure in the shower and sinks varied between weak and nonexistent, depending on the hour. By luck, we were able to park in 1 of the 4 parking spaces in front of the building, but otherwise we would have needed to park elsewhere. The location is ideal. We didn't like the layout, which comprised an air-conditioned bedroom but also a living room / kitchen that had a roof but were otherwise open-air and therefore too hot to use during the day.

Host Response

Hello Rob, I’m sorry to hear this way about your bad experience, if you would’ve told me about this we could have found a solution, Your review differs to other guests experiences where I have been able to receive better scores, Non of this was informed to me and the Airbnb was accepted by you the day of the check in, We had a cleaning team having the place cleaned and ready for an early check in as you requested, We always make sure the cleaning team washes all bedsheets even the replacements that you used from the closet. The whole apartment was completely clean at the moment you checked in, As stated in the descriptions the terrace is open area with no windows to enjoy the ocean view and breeze, it’s normal to have animals around from the national park where the apartment is located, It’s a shame you did not inform me about any situation, I could have help you better. It was a pleasure to host you.

{"__typename":"MerlinTranslatedReview","comments":"My family and I stayed in Costa Rica for two months, we visited 12 different places in total. I'm not used to writing negative reviews but unfortunately we were disappointed and believe that the price is not worth the location. We ran out of water for almost the duration of our stay (literally no water) and took our showers from bottles of water, wash dishes etc from gourdes. Pablo was a nice host, I have nothing to say about his person but the situation should have been handled differently (it seems like this is common in Tamarindo). The only solution that was offered to us (a garden hose) was also not working (it was dry too) I let you imagine the scene with two children. We paid a huge amount just to stock up on. Apart from this major problem, there were several items missing, such as towels, shampoo, hammock, wine glasses, so on. 11 stressful days","commentsLanguage":"fr","disclaimer":"Translated from French","needsTranslation":true,"response":null,"responseDisclaimer":null}

We had a great time staying here in Tamarindo, it was the perfect location to be near night life and restaurants as well as super close beach access. There’s a great view of the beach and plenty of iguanas and monkeys to see in the trees surrounding the loft!! The bedroom was large and had AC. As noted, sometimes the water wasn’t available midday, but we had no problem using the water tank on those few occasions. It’s a cute place to stay next time you visit Tamarindo!

Pablo’s place was great. Plenty of space for three of us and right on the beach. There’s a Chinese restaurant downtown which is super convenient to lots of restaurants, surf camps, etc nearby. AC works great but just in the bedroom area. Outdoor living area/kitchen with beach view and breeze was awesome. Be aware that comes with a little dust and a few insects as you are outside in the tropics. Having said that, I would stay at Pablo’s place again if traveling with a few other people.
