Fernando was such a friendly, likable person. He was also attentive to our needs when we needed more towels, and having breakfast included was a lovely surprise. My two kids loved playing on the beach that was within walking distance from the AirBnb house and seeing the locals wash their clothing in the lake and meeting all of the stray dogs. This was definitely worth the money, especially since there was air-conditioning within the unit helping us to sleep better

Beautifully located and very helpful people

Place was just as described, awesome location right on the beach! The on-site restaurant was very convenient and served delicious food. Place shuts down around 10-11p local time, so would suggest getting anything you need from the host/staff before then. I read other reviews and knew to expect a very bumpy road leading in, and a good amount of ants inside the room. The cabin itself was very clean, however. All in all great stay, highly recommend!

everything was perfect... Location on the lake, great reception facilities, friendly staff, range of activities, very nice accommodation with air conditioning, excellent breakfast... in short, everything was great.

Very charming little place by the water. Very calm and relaxed vibe which was exactly what I wanted. The place is basic but clean and comfortable with very kind people around the restaurant and Fernando was very easy to communicate with and flexible with my checkin/checkout which I highly appreciate when backpacking and constantly on the go. There's not much around the area but as long as you have a scooter or an ATV, you are just a short ride away from restaurants.

We had a really nice stay overall! The location is great and the view is absolutely beautiful — definitely one of the highlights of the trip. The place itself was comfortable, clean, and just as described in the listing. They also offered a complimentary hour of kayaking, which was such a fun bonus and made the experience even more special. Breakfast was included and it was delicious — we really appreciated that thoughtful touch. A couple small things to note: there were some ants in the room during our stay, and the road leading to the property is not in the best condition, so just be prepared for a bit of a bumpy drive getting there. Other than that, everything was wonderful and we truly enjoyed our time. Would recommend for the views and peaceful atmosphere!

Beautiful location with beautiful sunset views, the restaurant was good, the host was proactive towards our requests, for the price it was worth it, I recommend it.

The place was really great. Right on the water and with its own delicious restaurant at fair prices. Fernando is a super cool guy and host. I can recommend everyone to go there. The only thing I might advise against is having the laundry washed because it was not completely clean but otherwise everything was great!!!!

Great spot! It’s a little tricky to find but you can always ask a local and they will help you. Ideally rent a motorcycle to get here as it’s a bit far from the dock but worth the drive. The on sight restaurant has great local food and good beer prices. The staff are all very friendly and some have great English. The cabin is right on the water and you can swim or relax on the beach right there. If you want a proper local experience and directly help local workers and business owners go here!

Lovely place right by the water which gets beautiful sunsets every night. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the AC in the heat. The room and bathroom weren’t the cleanest or most insect-proof but what made up for it was the on site restaurant and the delicious fried fish (we got it 4 nights in a row). All in all very good value for money, you get a tasty breakfast included too. Don’t arrive in the dark and rain with all your bags like us! The dirt track to get there is rocky, it was possible but difficult on a scooter - better to arrive in daylight or rent a motorbike. Also - do the hostel’s sunset kayak tour down the river! We saw caimans, monkeys, bats and lots of interesting birds, would recommend.

We stayed for 3 nights on Ometepe - Fernando organized the taxi from the ferry for us. The accommodation has a reasonable bathroom and we slept well on the beds. The AC is quiet, but thanks to the fly screens we slept with the window open at night. In the morning it is quite noisy early due to the roosters and dogs etc. Fernando & his team answered our questions and also helped with the organization. The food in general and also the included breakfast were delicious. At the beach and in the restaurant you can watch the sunset perfectly :)

I had an amazing stay at Al Caballito, a truly special place in Mérida, Ometepe. From the moment we arrived we instantly felt at home. The place is cozy, surrounded by nature, and offers beautiful views that invite you to relax and unwind. The food was definitely one of the highlights—homemade flavors full of care and love. Plus, everything was very reasonably priced, which is perfect for longer stays. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a genuine smile that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot with great food, beautiful views, and warm hospitality, this is the perfect place. I’ll definitely be back!
