2BR Villa in Punta Uva

Jonathan

Excellent, 2 weeks ago

Super nice place to stay, located in great natural surroundings. Perfect for relaxing!

Really a perfect place. Sure, it may have a few quarks (super loud when it rains, slippery deck, gate malfunctions) but honestly we are just so lucky to have had the opportunity to visit this amazing place and country, we would be crazy to complain. The kitchen/living room is basically just screened in- so just be prepared for that heat and humidity- but the bedrooms are nice and cool and the beds are SUPER comfortable. The staff that did cleaning and repairs were wonderful people and great at what they do. We saw monkeys and about 40+ different birds from our porch every day. Absolutely a perfect place. We will be back for sure.

Loved our stay here! The quality of this accommodation was beyond our expectations. Quiet, comfortable, clean, we didn't want to leave!!! What a joy to wake up every day to the songs of birds… or howler monkeys! The beds were very comfortable, and we were able to rest deeply. No insects inside. Very clean premises despite the humidity. The cool pool, air conditioning and ventilation were much appreciated during the heat wave. The proximity to the most beautiful beach in the region is also an incredible advantage. We recommend it without hesitation! Very good communication with the hosts, who were attentive and professional. Thank you!

Host Response

Thank you so much for your kind words, Isabelle. It was a pleasure hosting you. We’re so happy to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, the comfort of the beds, the pool, and the beautiful nature surrounding the villa. Waking up to the sounds of birds and howler monkeys is truly a special experience in Puerto Viejo.

We loved our stay for 2 and 1/2 weeks!! The beach is close which is a bonus and the grounds were incredible. Everything was very clean! We had a few issues with the plugs tripping out but it may of been because we needed to charge our electric golf cart which requires a lot of power I assume. Otherwise the team was quick to help us. The pool is not heated but still a delight to have an afternoon dip. Only thing that I would suggest is to have a pool net cleaner for guests to be able to clean the pool daily at their leisure as lots of leaves and debris collect rather than needing to ask someone to come. Would definitely rent again!!

Host Response

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay, the nearby beach, and the beautiful grounds. We also appreciate your understanding with the electrical outlets — charging the golf cart likely required more power. Thank you as well for the suggestion about a pool net. That’s a great idea, and we will look into adding one for guests to use. We truly appreciate your feedback and would love to welcome you back anytime!

Robert’s place was really beautiful and matched the description well. We enjoyed having our meals outside on the patio, and it was relaxing to fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle. We also got to experience the Costa Rican alarm clock i.e. the howler monkeys right on the property. There was also a hummingbird in her nest a couple of meters away from the patio in the garden, and large iguanas going up and down the trees. Highly recommended!

Incredible place with a combination of beach and jungle! Monkeys and toucans at dawn in the trees surrounding the house, a 10-minute walk to the beach, and the photos don't do justice to how beautiful this place looks in real life. Although the pool faces the front of the house and doesn't offer the privacy we expected, it was still a phenomenal spot. My only suggestion is that they should put something on the roof to reduce the noise when it rains. Thanks

BEWARE: While this is a beautiful space and rental. The design is unique and modern, the showers and plunge pool are great. It feels safe and secure. There is an infestation of cockroaches in the kitchen and bedrooms. I understand it’s Costa Rica and there is going to be bugs. We killed over 50 roaches while staying there… I stayed in an Airbnb after this that literally has open windows with no screens to the jungle and there was not one cockroach there. The dishes were also dirty there were cups and plates with bugs and dirt in them. We communicated this to the host who didn’t respond for hours as he lives in the United States. We used the whats-app group they provided to communicate with the property manager (feels like a way to protect themselves) who came over solely to replace the empty propane canister. He opened the drawer with a cockroach moving on it, noting these aren’t typical there and then just placed it back in the drawer and closed it 🤮 He downplayed all our concerns.

Host Response

When our team arrived shortly after your message, we inspected everything — including the areas you mentioned — and found only one cockroach, not an infestation. The glass you pointed out as “dirty” had new sticker residue, not dirt. Our property manager responds both through Airbnb messages and WhatsApp, which we use only to assist guests faster. We take cleanliness and comfort very seriously, and based on our inspection, your comments don’t reflect the actual condition of the property. It also felt like you were looking for things to complain about despite our quick response.
