4BR Villa in Nosara

Gregor

Excellent, 1 week ago

This is not a conventional holiday home – and that is exactly what made our stay memorable. Casa del Mar really feels like living in the middle of the Bocas archipelago: a house on stilts over the sea, surrounded by water, jungle and mangroves, reached by boat rather than road. We especially enjoyed the rhythm of everyday life there: watching the weather move across the water, using the SUPs to get around, spotting wildlife and dolphins, and experiencing how a remote house works with rainwater and limited resources. It felt much closer to actually living on a tropical island than simply staying at a resort. The house is spacious and very well placed for exploring the area by boat. José took us on a great trip around Dolphin Bay, to Coral Cay and Zapatilla, and we also enjoyed visiting the nearby cacao farm. A distinctive place, and one of those stays where the location itself becomes a major part of the travel experience.

It was beautiful. The villa is superb, very well decorated, ideal for 6. We were able to try out the tree house at the bottom of the garden, a nice experience. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the ceiling fans are very welcome. We used the canoes to go for a ride; it was great. The water is clear, and you can see beautiful starfish. A big thank you to Captain José for taking us on his boat. We took the cocoa farm tour: a must!! And the cherry on the cake: we could see dolphins from the terrace 💕

We spent five nights at Julia's place during the rainy season end of June/first of July, and we had a remarkable experience. The transportation from the airport was seamless. Papa Jose is the best boat captain. He is super flexible and knows many people. Chef Jose - you just have to experience his fine cuisine. Don't miss out on the chef opportunity - it is well worth it. The place is wonderful, calm water, paddle boards, kayaks and the resident sloth. Erika helped tremendously coordinating our excursions. The chocolate farm and the monkey sanctuary are an experience you will not want to miss out on. Also Papa Jose navigates the waters brilliantly even in our groups adventurous trip out during some rain (don't let it stop you). Papa Jose also took us to a mangrove island with an amazing coral reef for those wanting to snorkel-it was AMAZING! I would highly recommend this place because you are well cared for your entire stay.

My family just returned from spending a week a Julia's place in Bocas. From the moment we arrived in Bocas, Erika, Katerin, and Jose took care of everything. What a beautiful home in a peaceful and serene setting. The sunrise was spectacular over the glassy bay. We spent countless hours in the hammocks or on the porch enjoying the clear water and wildlife that was swimming by. Our adult kids spent a lot of time enjoying the hiking trails, or snorkeling and exploring the area in the kayaks and paddle boards. The Casa Del Mar team were all very attentive and available whenever needed. Jose took us on multiple excursions during our time there. We had no problems scheduling our trips into Bocas Town for a meal, shopping or groceries. Even with 6 people in the house we had no issues with power. We ran the fans in each room every evening without issue even with the refrigerator and some fans running throughout the day. I would not hesitate to book this place again and hope to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at La Casita. It was so nice to get away from the busy-ness of life and spend time relaxing by the ocean. The house is very well stocked with things you might need like boot, snorkel gear, games, bug spray, kayaks. We loved having Katerine cook for us! We did take one trip to Zapatilla Island/Reef. Maybe it was the time of year, but there was no snorkeling available there. Thankfully Jose took us to a spot much closer to the house where the kids could see lots of fish and coral. The house is wonderful, but there are a few things to note. The noseeums are awful! There are also lots of sea urchins and jelly fish around the house. We did ok with no AC but were very thankful for the floor fans! You must also be careful of water and electricity usage. It didn’t bother us, but for some it might be an issue. This was an amazing opportunity and highly recommended for anyone who is wanting to really get away!

We had a great time at this beautiful place. It’s not easy to describe, you have to experience it. Paddling with the dolphins almost on a daily base. Enjoying the wildlife in the backyard jungle and my daughter really enjoyed the 2 dogs who were always walking with us no matter how far we went. Having Jose available with the boat is a big plus, he took us anywhere we needed to go. From snorkelling in the reef to doing groceries in town.
