3BR Villa in Manuel Antonio

Alvaro

Good, 4 weeks ago

First of all, Jean is an excellent host, very friendly and always attentive to trying to help. The location and the house itself are extraordinary. I think the only thing missing is some maintenance and equipment. I think the house, with good maintenance and fully equipped, is worth the price, but today it's missing a few things.

Families first time to Costa Rica and it was a great one! Jean's place was spacious and clean. The outdoor spaces were fantastic, expecially the pool. It was so much fun to watch the monkeys play in the morning. If you're a bird watcher this place is for you too - so much to see right outside your door. Note - there are 3 bedrooms - upstairs loft which overlooks the living room (with a great little bathroom and shower) and two bedrooms which are downstairs on the second 'floor' (also with their own bathroom) - something to consider if you have little ones. Our kids really enjoyed the space. The place is a little tricky to find (always use Waze and not maps in CR) but I used google maps to visualize the route and driveway beforehand and it was no problem. Jean has great restaurant suggestions and local info. Wouldn't hesitate to rent again.

We had a wonderful stay at this Manuel Antonio home. The view was absolutely gorgeous and one of the highlights of our trip. We actually saw more monkey activity right from the property than we did on any of the tours we took in Manuel Antonio or even La Fortuna - such a special experience. Jean was an attentive and thoughtful host, very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The location was also excellent — convenient while still feeling peaceful and surrounded by nature. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Jean’s place offers beautiful views and incredible wildlife, we especially loved watching (and sharing the space with!) the monkeys. After our morning adventures, relaxing in one of the two pools each afternoon was a real highlight of the trip. A couple of small improvements would have made the stay even better. The outdoor patio seating could use an update to make it more comfortable for lounging and enjoying the surroundings. Also, the A/C unit in one of the bedrooms is motion-sensored. Since the key must remain in the slot for power and the unit requires motion to stay on, it would sometimes turn off during the night, which left the room feeling warm and made for slightly restless sleep. Overall, we had a wonderful time and appreciated the unique setting, amazing wildlife and an extremely helpful host.

Come for the pool, stay for the sunset! The photos don't do justice to the incredible panoramic views of both the ocean and mountains. We loved having the large pool for lounging in the afternoons and we could dip into the small pool to cool off at night and look at the stars. The wildlife is amazing with cute capuchin monkeys passing through once or twice a day, along with so many amazing birds and other creatures. The house is sparsely furnished but clean and spacious.

Great view! Convenient location. Jean is a jolly good host. The interior needs some TLC. One of the a/c units is held in the wall with towels and very dirty. The pool is two stories down from the main living area and only accessible by going through one of the guest bedrooms and the garage! Kitchen and living space is equipped with the bare minimum. We stayed for two weeks and paid $7000, a price that is justified by the great location and view but not by the dated interior!

Host Response

Thank you for pointing out about the A/C unit which was cleaned in December. We will re-clean again before the next guests. The pool location has never been an issue with guests and the Through bedroom is designed so that parents have closer access to their kids.

Perfect stay for a great adventure. House is great. Pool and hot tub. Monkeys to watch in the am with your coffee as they migrate to the beach for the day. And fantastic sunsets. Jean is great and will help you with excursions, food, shopping, fishing, or whatever else you may like.

Host Response

glad to hear you guys had a great time ! just to clarify for other guests our jacuzzi is actually designed to create a soothing bubble experience, rather than heat the water like a traditional hot tub as we live in the tropics and are more looking to cool down during the day. hope to see you guys again some time as we discussed !!
